J.R. Smith Hit the Game-Winner Against Phoenix Because He Didn’t Get Ejected For Undercutting Goran Dragic
J.R. Smith hit two incredible shots last night to tie and win last night’s Knicks game against the Phoenix Suns. He did it after he intentionally ran underneath Goran Dragic in the second quarter and received a flagrant foul. On the same night that Dwight Howard was thrown out of the Lakers’ loss to the Nuggets for a hard foul, hopefully the Knicks hero isn’t forgotten about for this much more dangerous play. Perhaps if Smith had salsa danced underneath Dragic people would be talking about it.

Cause and effect fail?

JR Smith is a horrible human being. I concur.

Cousin Ronald, you must embrace the Knicks.

The NBA is by far the worst officiated sport. Just no consistency or logic to what they do. A lot of calls are judgement which makes them tough, but still. On what planet is this not worse than Howard’s?

There should be pass interference in the NBA. Perfect storm of shitty judgement officiating

I’m the first to insult NBA officiating and the NBA in general, but really can you be upset about that call? They gave him a Flagrant One? Your issue is the fact that they didn’t give him a Flagrant Two? Yeah, I probably agree he should’ve been tossed, but it wasn’t like they only called a personal foul on JR Smith.

You can run under people or kick them in the balls but by no means can you rest anyone.

This. Adding another note on the previous post with Dwayne Wade. He is such a bitch. I liked him in college and when he first came into the league, but he is a nasty player and all around jackass. LeBron is the class act of that team. Very unselfish. Dwayne on the other hand, it’s all about him. Watched the game Christmas nite and I know he was responsible for at least 10 turnovers, lazy ball handling, drives to the hoop that were bad decisions. All the hate goes to LeBron but I think it’s wade that deserves it

definitely a cheap play and he got a flagrant foul called. not sure it warranted being ejected unless TBL is a Knicks hater.

I’m not sure the Suns would have hung in the game very long had Smith been ejected.Sure the guy made the game winning shot but he was bricking shit left and right and keeping Phoenix in the game.

I was mainly meaning in contrast to Howard’s ejection for something far less flagrant. Not sure Smith’s warranted ejection either, but if Dwight was ejected for what he did, than this is a no-brainer.

The Smith foul isn’t even in the same category as the Howard foul. Smith try to run close enough to Gorac to make him nervous and effect the shot, and he wound up brushing against him. That play happens in the NBA all of the time. Howard put a forearm into the neck and shoulder area to purposely knock Faried out of the air. Intent is the difference.

I’m sure Smith and the Knicks would have reacted calmly if Dragic had done this to Smith.
December 27th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
The intent when undercutting an opponent in the air is to always make sure they land safely on the ground.

Agreed. Where is the “Dwight Howard is a Douche Version 77.0″ post? Another filthy play by a filthy player. The Skill-less Wonder strikes again

I have to go NFL. I’m amazed by how many calls they botch USING REPLAY
December 27th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Also the two hardest sports to officiate…human beings are too big and fast now
December 27th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
so, after all that, lin turns out to be a decent PG after all

I get that argument, but I just hate the replay system. Possibly my least favorite thing about the NFL is “the ruling on the field”. We know the call is wrong, but there is a .0001% chance it’s right, so let’s keep the wrong call! Fuck that. Just make the right call. The ruling on the field should be totally irrelevant

exactly. if a shitty call is made on the field, the onus is on the replay to have overwhelming evidence to the contrary. any replay should be a ‘first look’ at the play

Replay doesn’t always provide definitive proof though so you need some basis to fall back on
