Christmas Day: Lots of Quality NBA Games
There’s wall-to-wall NBA on Christmas Day on ABC/ESPN, so when you’re done opening gifts and have had enough of the family, there’s this:
12 pm, Boston at Brooklyn: Both chasing the Knicks in the Atlantic.
3 pm, New York at Los Angeles: In September, if you asked, I would have thought LA was 20-7, New York 13-14.
5:30 pm, Oklahoma City at Miami: Rematch of the 2012 NBA Finals.
8 pm, Houston at Chicago: Jeremy Lin and James Harden against … whoever the Bulls line up in the backcourt.
10:30 pm, Denver at LA Clippers: If you’re not hammered, check out the most exciting team in the NBA. Yup, the Clippers currently have that label.

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a great day.
December 25th, 2012 at 12:33 PM
Wish the NCAA would throw a few bowl games on Christmas day…
December 25th, 2012 at 12:35 PM
Merry Christmas all. Looking forward to the games today. Lakers/Knicks looks like the showcase game but also the one where I have no idea what will happen.
December 25th, 2012 at 12:37 PM
Actually OKC/Miami is the marquee game. Lakers/Knicks is most intriguing.
December 25th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Yeah, I say again – merry Christmas. Holla!
December 25th, 2012 at 12:49 PM
For the life of me I can’t understand how a marathon of NBA games is desired viewing for anyone on Christmas Day.
December 25th, 2012 at 12:55 PM
You can address your “Thank You” cards to the NFL league office and BCS conference commissioners.
Meanwhile, I’m happy to have five games to gamble on while I steadily intoxicate myself. Gambling and alcohol: keeping families together since forever!
/needs it to tolerate certain people

Amen. I miss the Aloha Bowl.

Where is my damn figgy pudding?
December 25th, 2012 at 1:21 PM
that’s funny jim…i actually looked up the recipe for that. will make it next year. i will drink and gamble with you trojans. kids woke at 430 this morning. wife and me have since each napped. may hit Rise of the Guardians in an hour to get out of house
December 25th, 2012 at 1:23 PM
dikembe i thought yesterday was a worse sports day…one bowl game. no cbb, cfb, nfl, nba or hahahahahockey
December 25th, 2012 at 2:18 PM
Bowl games are pathetic. 99% of the time after about 15 minutes, the game winds up watching me more than me watching the game. I’m loving the matchup of games the NBA has lined up today.
December 25th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Goodfellas is on
December 25th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Goodfellas is on
Watching it. A Bronx Tale was on before it. I was hoping to get Casino out of this.

Not as bad as that damn abused animal commercial.

I’ve been on the 80′s comedy kick until Xmas dinner – Fletch, Naked Gun, Turner and Hooch, etc. Flipped over the Ind. Jones and the Last Crusade for a while.
December 25th, 2012 at 3:06 PM
I like the new one where they show the guy going after the baby seal with the hakapik.
December 25th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
Fletch? Top 50 movie all-time. Also a beat I would use if I was a modern rapper!
December 25th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
Sctrojans, you like the UNDER 205 for the Heat/Thunder game? MIA seems to bring the defense on the home games, especially for this big a matchup. Thinking mid 90′s for both teams. Your thoughts?

Harold Farltenmeyer was the go to guy for 80s movies. He did Top Gun and Running Man as well as BHC II.

KC Res merry christmas! you got me to youtube the running man. Great book, under Bachman, but what a cinematic epic. “Once Sub Zero – Now, Plain Zero”
December 25th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
Happy Birthday, Dopeman! The wife is napping and my boy is playing with his new DS games. I don’t have much going on today. Gotta work tomorrow, so I’m boozing at a minimum this afternoon.
December 25th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
Well, shit. Either Dopeman is Jesus Christ or maybe this one beer has messed with my head.
Merry Christmas, Dopeman.
December 25th, 2012 at 3:55 PM
Happy Birthday KC! Its all good. Goodfellas, Beer, Dinner w the parents at thier new house in the mountains. I might be jesus christ or I might be cool rick…
December 25th, 2012 at 4:00 PM
Caribou, I don’t think I’m betting the total in that game. I expect high defensive intensity from Miami, but OKC are so explosive and play so fast offensively that I don’t have much conviction. I’m leaning towards taking Miami -2.5.
I had Celtics moneyline, Nets under 93.5, Knicks moneyline, and under 210.5 Knicks-Lakers so far.
FWIW, I’d lean toward under 205
December 25th, 2012 at 4:04 PM
It’s all about rebounding for Miami, which comes down to effort, because they need to force tough shots, box out, get tips, etc. to mitigate their lack of size.
Miami has been tough for me all year because I’ve expected more effort, but they’ve coasted a lot. I’m hoping hosting OKC on Christmas is enough to bring their first big time effort of the season.
December 25th, 2012 at 4:04 PM
Oh, I’ve been offline for several days up until yesterday afternoon. I just now noticed McIntyre had another kid. That’s explain his grumpiness recently. That last month of carrying a kid wears down on the wife so Jason was probably double time busy doing life stuff.
Congrats on the kid, Jason.
December 25th, 2012 at 4:48 PM
Thanks for the input sctrojans, leaning the UNDER right now and prob parlay it with MIA -2.5 Usually play pretty tough on Christmas Day.
December 25th, 2012 at 4:55 PM
Ray Felton single-handedly letting the Lakers back in the game. Why he plays consistently is one of the great NBA mysteries. I understand Prigioni can’t shoot, but Felton is an abomination on both ends of the floor
December 25th, 2012 at 5:03 PM
Merry Christmas. Its all about the cookies.
December 25th, 2012 at 5:03 PM
Hey y’all. Bou..i dug out Saturday and Sunday so all good. Took nc state big Saturday then went 6-3 sunday…all nfl and knicks game
Today got overs on knicks and heat games. Havent studied night games yet
December 25th, 2012 at 5:24 PM
How many 1-2 pick and rolls do the Lakers have to run, in order to switch Felton to Bryant, must Woodson watch before pulling the fat midget?
December 25th, 2012 at 5:31 PM
regardless of today’s outcome Lakers are in the mix
December 25th, 2012 at 7:26 PM
I destroyed my nephew in Monopoly. Young punk got all the green and park place/boardwalk but had no cash to put on it. My railroad monopoly drained his cashflow and then 4-house on the red properties dropped two quick haymakers. Game. Over.

Add that emotional foul reaction to Westbrook’s reel. Grow up, kid. I haven’t seen such unbridled wasted energy since a Duke home game

Good job by Russ to leave his hands down, thus opening a perfect passing lane for Lebron. Explosive talent, but yet again, a rube in hoops theory/fundamentals

Set up kindle fire with some apps…practiced juggling rings…saw rise of the guardians…drank mole beer…made bets
December 25th, 2012 at 9:18 PM

I had no idea that was around. Will pick some up. I received many a Smokestack Series and Free State beers and have been enjoying them the past few days.

So my parents just bought a ridiculis house “near” denver. Fuck that noise. I just got back from there and it took 1 hour to get there from denver metro. Beautiful scenery and everything but the shear drive alone kept me from drinking.

December 25th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
Dopeman – Oh, shit. You were out there in the hills. I used to live in Parker when I was a toddler. Amazing to see how the Denver metro area has spread. Smart move on drinking when you get home. Where do you live in Denver?
December 25th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
KC- I will give you this: the metro out here knows no bounds. This is the complete wild west when it comes to economic growth. The marijuana law will just increase dispersion. Man, I need a finance man to help me make money in the mj business. Its gonna be a cash fest for three-four years
But I live in the highlands. amazing.

December 26th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Congratulations Jason!
Yep, me too. On the other hand, almost no one is here at my office today, so I’m hoping for an annoyance free today with an early out.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Me and two others are the only people in my dept at work today. I feel like I’ve been hit by a train. Today is going to suck.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
First day back at the office after 6 off thanks to the blizzard (20 inches in Madison, that was a treat)…it’s a wonder I remembered my log-in information
December 26th, 2012 at 9:08 AM

Yeah, she was a syndicated humorist/columnist. The thing is, she died over 15 years ago. Christmas has been overdone for a long time.

I’m at work but have dick to do. Plan on meeting some friends for a three beer lunch and then hoping the boss sends me home early. Assuming my boss even comes in.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Erma Bombeck
I remember my mom taping some of her best work on the fridge.
One line in particular, regarding boys’ rooms in a a constant state of chaos: “And of course, the orgy of dirty socks reproducing in the corner.” As a kid, I found that very amusing.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
I just had all my kids presents hidden under a pile of tarps and whatnot in the garage. Time to go clean that garage out now so I can begin parking my car in it for the winter.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Most of my team of 6 is here working.
Three of then will get axed soon after the 1st of Jan.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
It’s so dead in here I’m listening to my co-worker tell a story about going to Blockbuster yesterday. I honestly didn’t know Blockbuster still existed.

squawkbox team 6.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
My boss told me a month ago that there is absolutely nothing for me to do between Christmas and New Years, but here I am at work. With no Internet access so I’m stuck using the mobile site. At least we’re supposed to get a bunch of snow and ice this afternoon which likely means I go home early.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Htown I thought blockbuster went out of business too. Haven’t seen one thy was actually open for seemingly years.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:20 AM

December 26th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
I have nephews (my sisters kids) that have grown up with shooting sports and activities. Their dad was the 4H shooting coach for 15+ years. With regular family stuff going on, it’s always been hard to get my kids with them to learn the basics.
Saturday, my oldest son got the complete firearms etiquette and usage training from my brother-in-law. Nice bonding day.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
this is so obligatory, it’s not even funny.
That guy is amazing.
I didn’t get to go hunting over the holidays but me bro’in law bought my kid the Cabella’s Big Game Hunt Wii game. My kid and I played that all day yesterday. I had to keep telling him it was completely unrealistic. That you can’t just kill six gazelles, a rhino, two lions, and boatloads of whatever birds where flying around.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
That’s a good one.
I watched much less NBA yesterday than I usually do on Christmas. The Knicks uniforms I found somewhat eye catching, but I only had the game on for about 5 minutes.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
no reason for you not to profit from their stupidity.
True story.
My last contract, after about 6 weeks, the work I was doing was not challenging and really not occupying much of my time. I felt bad and told them they needed to get me more work, they kept promising more but I was getting bore and felt terrible burning their cash, so I left – on good terms.
I jumped from that to my current gig, working 60+ billable hours per week minimum and catching constant grief from some Chinese dude that has no idea wtf he’s doing.
Be careful what you wish for.
December 26th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
