Nick Swisher, an integral part of the 2012 Yankees team that was swept in the ALCS, has reportedly signed with the Cleveland Indians. According to Mike Feinsand of the New York Daily News, Swisher’s contract is worth $56 million over the next four years. What a bargain. Swisher’s numbers have historically dropped off from the regular season to the postseason, but that shouldn’t be a concern in Cleveland where there generally is no postseason. Again, Cleveland is going to pay Nick Swisher $14,000,000 annually to play the sport of baseball.

So, less production and more cost than going after Josh Willingham last year. Woof.

And somehow with the new CBA, teams can’t spend more than around 10 million total on amateur talent. But the Cleveland F***ing Indians can afford to spend 56 million on Nick Swisher.
