Arizona Wildcats: Incredible Comeback Seals 49-48 Win Over Nevada in New Mexico Bowl
Most expected this point total. Few expected this ending. Arizona trailed 48-35 to Nevada with 1:53 remaining. The Wildcats scored on a touchdown pass to Austin Hill with 0:42 remaining, converted the onside kick and then scored again on a touchdown pass to Terrence Miller. 49-48 Arizona. One hell of a way to end the season for Rich Rodriguez.
For those who like stats…Arizona and Nevada combined for 187 plays, 1,228 yards of total offense, 97 points, 75 first downs, a 5/6 rate on fourth down conversions and six turnovers.

Is this a good ending for Rich Rod? His team showed up completely unprepared, had an embarrassing side line incident and luckily ended up beating an inferior team in the final 20 seconds.
Seems to be par for the course for the underachieving coach. No D, behavior issues from the players, poor preparation, etc.

Yes it’s a good ending. Any time you end the season with a win its a good finish
This team has been winning high scoring games all season. The talent on defense just isn’t there. Hopefully they will be a little stronger next year.
The big difference today is they held the other team to 2 points and came back.
Was it an inferior team, yeah
Was it lucky, yep
Do I care, no!

Gus might have combusted had he been calling this one.
In that case, I could have sat through four hours of this game knowing he’d be in flames by the end and never again to ruin a sports telecast for me.

Do I care, no! Full
Yep.

There was only a high school crowd though. Also known as a soccer crowd.
Let’s get rid of bowls? Let’s get rid of soccer.

I half agree. American soccer is fucking torture to watch.

Add in inability to kiss the asses of multi million dollar boosters, and you have the reason he’s no longer coaching in A2.
