Rob Parker Suspended by ESPN Over RG3 ‘Blackness’ Comments
ESPN just announced that Rob Parker has been suspended “until further notice” due to his comments Thursday about Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III.
Here were the worst of Parker’s comments Thursday:
I am an African-American in America. That will never change. But I don’t have to be defined by that…We always try to find similarities in life, no matter what it is so they’re going to try to put you in a box with other African-American quarterbacks – Vick, Newton, Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon…That’s the goal. Just to go out and not try to prove anybody wrong but just let your talents speak for themselves.”
We keep hearing this so it makes me wonder deeper about him. I’ve talked to some people in Washington D.C. My question, which is just a straight, honest question, is he a brother or is he a cornball brother”
He’s not really. Okay, he’s black, but he’s not really down with the cause…
He’s kind of black, but He’s not really the guy you want to hang out with. He’s off to something else.
We all know he has a white fiancee. People always talk about how he’s Republican. There’s no information at all. I’m just trying to dig deeper into why he has an issue.
This shouldn’t be a surprise at all. I’m surprised the NFLPA hasn’t chimed in (though it sounds like they may).
Parker has always been a clown with no substance. How about the time he went on TV to say that Kirk Cousins, then at Michigan State, was involved in a brawl that resulted in a hockey player going to the hospital? Cousins was actually with his dad that night, and Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio had this to say about Parker:
“I think what’s not fair to do is to do what Rob Parker … from The Detroit News did,” Dantonio said. “I don’t think I need to spell that name, Rob Parker, who went on TV and he made reference to Kirk Cousins being at the heart of this whole matter, which is totally inaccurate.
“I take offense to that, and Cousins’ family takes offense to that, and I think that borders on slander. So here’s a young man who does everything right, and he’s thrown under the bus by somebody who has no credibility in my mind.”

He’ll be back and get a raise. FIRE THIS CLOWN. Have some balls ESPN. He keeps getting fired and re-hired. What a joke.
December 14th, 2012 at 11:48 AM
RG3′s “cause” is to win football games. Parker is a buffoon.
December 14th, 2012 at 11:48 AM
I’m sure ESPN is devastated that everyone is talking about their intentionally controversial talk show, and they now have to replace Parker with one of the literally hundreds of “Tell it like it is” talking heads they can summon at will.

Craig James’s accomplice.

Zero chance he gets fired. He’ll come back as an even bigger asshole

Parker was the dude who asked Rod Marinelli about his daughter’s marriage choice in a PC. I don’t care what ESPN does because who watches this shit anyway, but it does remind me that ESPN consciously hires these people to do exactly this, and I’m happier I don’t watch.

Not to attempt to derail this, but here’s very NSFW video of a TCU cheerleader pleasuring herself on a cell phone cam: http://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/this-tcu-cheerleader-is-one-mean-lean-bean-flickin-machine-nsfw.118399/

when Stephen A. is uncomfortable with how the direction a conversation on race goes, you know you are in trouble, Rob.
December 14th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Are they going to suspend the producers who re-aired First Take yesterday?
December 14th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Stephen A came out of this looking pretty good.
Also fuck Skip for playing along with the race baiting asking about his braids, that guy is such a cocksucker. I hope Aikman beats the fuck out of him someday.
December 14th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
My guess is that he will be suspended for a couple of weeks, and then be back to doing the same thing again. Like others have said, problem lies with producers of the whole “embrace debate” culture at ESPN. As long as programs like First Take continues to get good ratings, ESPN will take the occasional suspensions that come along with that type of programming. Other than ratings drop, only way this changes is if Leagues start putting pressure on ESPN to tone down the bullshit.

Remind me later to check out that video ms. Is she at least decent looking?
The people who matched her up to a roster shot make it seem like she is. But I have to admit that the video quality is less than great. And she keeps her phone in front of her face most of the time. But everyone at TCU seems convinced that it’s her.

“I mean, Kirk Cousins is white, but he’s not down with the cause.”
Now, if a white dude said that, what’s the first thing that would come to mind?

Sometimes I wonder is Kevin Love is white enough. Or about that guy that was on VH1′s “g’s to Gents” show.

My best friend went to Carnegie Mellon. He said on Pi Day (March 14), a hundred asians ran around spelling out the numbers of Pi. Sounds cool.

missed rg3 and his fiancée by 10 minutes at the Nationals Pasttime grille Saturday nite at the Gaylord hotel in Washington. Went there to see the ice sculptures and we ate there before we went. Waitress said he was there with his fiancée and he had his hoodie up, and then this kid spotted hm and got his picture taken with him. Said he was very cool about it. Kid and his dad kept showing people at the bar the digital foot. Good for the kid
I like RG3, seems to be a standup guy and class act.
This rob Parker, not so much.

*digital photo, not foot. That would be weird

Damn, johndewar, that was excellent.

I’d like to hear Rob Parker explain all the things he’s done to show that he himself is “down with the cause”.
December 14th, 2012 at 12:27 PM
This is excellent. I wish someone at that panel had asked him that question.
December 14th, 2012 at 12:33 PM
Has anyone mentioned that Rob Parker has to be one of the whitest names possible? The only way it would be whiter is if his middle name was Todd.
December 14th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
cornball name.
December 14th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
my thoughts exactly.
December 14th, 2012 at 1:17 PM
When Stephen A is the voice of reason there is a serious problem.
December 14th, 2012 at 2:04 PM
Rob Parker also tries to pass himself off as a smart baseball guy. This is the same guy who called Keith Law and other sabermetrics people “geeks”. Oh and he also had the marlins winning the world series. Needless to say he’s a clown.
December 14th, 2012 at 2:42 PM
Who the hell is Rob Parker?
He is the guy that ESPN hired to judge which athletes are “black enough” and who are “down with the cause”.
They are famous for producing inane lists. I would like to see who the top 10 are in each category. And the bottom ten, of course.
December 15th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
I agree with RoB Parker any negro thats with someone white is a cornball brother and not done with the cause. I could tell before I knew he had a white woman that he was that type of negro black as he is he probably cant spell black.
