Torii Hunter Is Not Happy That Angels Owner Arte Moreno Somehow Found Money to Pay Josh Hamilton
Torii Hunter played outfield in Los Angeles through last season. He will be turning 37, and despite coming off a good year, the Angels let him walk in free agency. He settled in with the Detroit Tigers for 2 years and %26 million, so let’s not feel too sorry for Torii. However, he wasn’t happy when the news of Josh Hamilton’s contract averaging $25 million per year for five years was announced.
I was told money was tight but I guess the Arte had money hidden under a Mattress. Business is business but don’t lie.

Business Don’t Lie

Lying is part of business. In fact, there is a business code word for lying. See: negotiation. Grow up

Maybe money was tight because they planned on spending it elsewhere.

Will the WAH-mbuluance make it all the way to Detroit?

Looks like Torii should have waited for Greinke to sign elsewhere before moving on. I am sure money was “tight” while they were trying to sign the pitcher.

I’m sure Torii and his agent told Detroit that money was tight in Anaheim, and were completely honest with them.

Well, Torii, he’s not 37, so yeah. Deal with it. Plus, his BABIP being insane last year doesn’t help.

Didn’t he just leave a $100 Million contract? Feel for the guy.

Torii’s not really down with the cause…

Tight rhymes with white.

I think Torii’s sentiment comes across clearly in that tweet. I don’t think he is complaining about Hamilton getting paid and not him. He’s just complaining that they sugar coated negotiations with him. He wanted DiPoto and Moreno to play it straight with him. That being said, the 2015 Angels will be the funniest, geriatric squad west of the Mississippi.

Torri is washed up. Smart move letting him go.

Torii had a higher WAR last year than ol’ Josh. That Arte….he’s clever that one.
