Ugh. That might be the worst roundup pic ever. White trash week?
December 10th, 2012 at 8:15 AM
I hate websites that make you repeatedly click on a new page to cycle through the list.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:23 AM
So does Romney now officially have “The Stink”? This is eventually going to lead to him being scheduled to give a motivational speech to a team before a big game by some owner who donated to his campaign, and the coach/team ban him from the locker room because he’s bad luck, right?
December 10th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
Good 2nd half hillbilly.
Anyone wanna talk Homeland?
December 10th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
Coyote vs. a Goose in the parking lot.
That was a waste of 38 seconds.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
Hey diddle diddle Kirk Cousins up the middle.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
I’m two weeks behind. All the negative comments on twitter left me less inspired to watch last week’s episode, so it’s been on the back burner.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Pacquiao still has no idea where he is…
December 10th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
The Bo Jackson 30/30. Tremendous

The Pacquiao photoshops Tremendous

Out of all the Beastie Boys songs, the pick Paul Revere? I fart on that list.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
i’ve just jumped in the last 3 weeks. not a bad show at all. am i lost? sure.
never let twitter impact your TV habits! be your own person!
December 10th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
No it wasn’t. That director should never get another job. And did he just walk around ESPN and ask if random ass people wanted to talk about BO for his shitty film?
December 10th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
You mean you picked up in the middle of season 2? It’s one of those shows that’s best viewed from the beginning.

No just hungover from watching a horrible team and organization every fucking week.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
50 Cent belongs nowhere near that top songs list. Other than that, its pretty good. Really like TROY.

Any 38 seconds that ends with one of those flying vermin dying horribly is fine by me.

On Wednesdays, Matthew Stafford stops by and shits in the driveway.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
I got sucked into that RS 50 song wormhole on Friday, thought given the nature of those lists they did a decent job all things considered.
And yeah Paul Revere was a good choice. Gave License to Ill some cachet. Because it wasnt the song on the radio but everybody knew it.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
You said what I was thinking, or at least thinking about what I was going to type. thanks.

foreshadowing. Romney probably thought Pacquiao was the Mexican guy.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
never let twitter impact your TV habits! be your own person!
False. I never continued watching Lost after seeing all the negative feedback on here and on Twitter. I did, however, fire up Breaking Bad again after the comments on here, and I’m contemplating starting The League based on you fine folks here and elsewhere in the blogosphere.
/peer pressure’d
December 10th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
I fully intend on continuing to watch, but was less enthusiastic about it than I might have been.
I do probably pay too much attention to the critics and word of mouth, in general.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
i like it so far…started way late. easy to burn thru a bunch of em on netflix.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Saying how the Giants would have RG3 all figured out because it is the first team he has played twice, and then hibernating for a week after the Giants got their ass whooped…TREMENDOUS
December 10th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
I do probably pay too much attention to the critics and word of mouth, in general.
You can be your own person but heed the advice/warnings of others, or disregard it and learn for yourself. For example: I saw Killing Them Softly last night. Reviews on it have been kinda “meh.” One of my friends saw it and didn’t like it. I really wanted to see it, so I went with the wife. We both enjoyed it, but could see why people wouldn’t like it.
Same thing with a TV show, but the commitment is greater. I watched the first 2 seasons of Lost years ago, and then when I came here and finally got on Twitter, enough friends and/or commentariat were like “dude, you’re going to be TREMENDOUSLY disappointed” so I took their advice and just stopped. Conversely, a friend told me that the final season of Battlestar Galactica was kinda “meh” and the series finale would be either pass or fail (I was on season 2). I still watched it anyway. And yes, she was right.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
yeah, because Bo’s high school and college coaches, George Brett, Mark Gubicza, Howie Long all happen to work for ESPN.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
agreed…now excuse me, im going to go write a post about the ratings for last night’s WWII HD replay on the H2 channel: where history repeats itself.

I take my Great Dane down to the pond to chase geese. She poops out fast but it’s fun to watch.

you sir, are an american treasure. the entire geese hating community applauds you.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
The League has been fantastic. I think it’s easily supplanted Always Sunny as the funniest show on FX.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
The coaches, Gubicza and Long were good as well as BO. Not nearly enough BO.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
dunno if it was a new episode or replay, but last week when taco holds up a pipe and says “i figured out how to smoke weed out of this” with a proud look on his face was fucking priceless. i have rarely related so much to a character…not since wilfred.
December 10th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Browns are hanging tough at 00.9% to make the playoffs. Never give up.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
gotta watch a replay. missed it. he was simply a fascinating athlete.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
bo knows mythbuilding.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Schedule related or do you think the coaching is finally making an impact?
December 10th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Nice read on Reggie Evans, the Nets rebounding machine who has a “gleeful nasty streak.”
HA. He’s so nasty he got fined twice already for flopping. He’s a punk bitch. Nasty? Not so much.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
not sure if it’s coaching…but there’s oodles of young, raw talent on this team on both sides. it’s great watching them get more and more experience and get better each week. really fun team to watch.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Booing is not the same thing as “rooting against your own team”.
/good job, good effort WSJ
December 10th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
You play enough close games and eventually a few will go your way, seeing the same thing with the Panthers now too…the only team that seems to win every one of their tight affairs is the Colts which makes them an early candidate for Regression Team of 2013
December 10th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
Fear Mark Reynolds.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Heldover what did you like best about KTS?
December 10th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
I find it much easier to root against your team than to boo them.

Can’t trust Rolling Stone. They give every Yoko album 5 stars.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Schedule related or do you think the coaching is finally making an impact?
A bit of both. I’ve felt that Shurmur has been a good MON-SAT coach, who’s two main weaknesses have been playcalling and game management, both of which IMO are ridiculous to pay millions for on-the-job training. However, they have been taking advantage of the schedule but no complaints. It’s obvious they are trending in the proper direction, ceiling TBD. They play hard, play together. They are a curious group if nothing else.
Yesterday Shurmur gets a very good grade. He’s finally installing plays that cater to player strengths. The maturation of use of Greg Little in the game yesterday was tremendous. Now, why has that taken so long on getting those plays in the game plan? Is it because the team is so young they have so much else to focus on? Or is it b/c he was not doing his job as a HC? Not sure I have that answer.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Only counter to that, Butters, is that they have – FINALLY – cap space and a GM who appears willing to spend. They are doing everything this year with scotch tape and tissue paper. This team is by rights about a 4 win group, but with Luck a year more experienced and hopefully some actual blockers on the O-Line, I’m holding out hope that they can maintain

That was actually a pretty cool professor. I had some that would rip your balls off for sleeping in class.
And, somebody needs to give that coyote a gold star for taking out that goose. Geese are horrible, filthy animals.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
I’m a Giants fan who lives and works in the DC metro area. I didn’t run from going to work (non telework days), paying my co-worker 50 dollars, or living, so I wouldn’t run from showing up to post on a messageboard. That was a game the Giants should have thrown 40 times against that horrific defensive backfield, made the Skins one dimensional, and teed off on RGIII in the end. For all of the talk about the great offensive showing by Griffin, they only scored 17 points, and it was Morris who killed them in the end.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
two more batted down balls on short slants where the OL didn’t cut block…what week is this again?
i cant be too critical tho, cuz i agree with a lot of what you just said. maybe shurmur just needed to get out from under holmgren…maybe he needed some independence and not some fat walrus fatting up the joint.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
50 fucking page slideshow? Could someone just tell me that Slick Rick’s Childrens Story, Kwame’s The Man We All Know and Love, and Li’l Troy’s Wanna be a Baller are on there so I don’t have to click through, find they’re not, and throw my CPU

Maybe, but let’s wait till Archer comes back in January.

December 10th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
nothing mythical about a guy playing a full baseball season, taking a week off and diving full boar into the middle of a football season putting up 100 yard games without a training camp or pre season.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
LL Cool J is on that list 3 times, and Big L is on that list 0 times. (cue up bullshit chant)
December 10th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Most importantly, the anti-Mike Lombardi crowd is gaining some inertia. You had Heckert picks Richardson, Weeden, Schwartz, Hughes, Benjamin, Winn, JMJ all play meaningful downs and impact the game, UFAs Bademosi, Fort, Gipson (INT), and Robertson also playing. Heckert has done a really good job and creating some depth and position battles.
Browns had all 53 players in practice on THUR and FRI, only healthy scratches on SUN.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:19 AM

December 10th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Odds on the “woeful” Jets actually making the playoffs?
December 10th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
When it comes Weeden, apparently every defensive player is JJ Watt.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
.250 hitter.
The only stats that mattered back then were length of home runs and Sportscenter highlights.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
The off-season for the Browns will be the most interesting in the league. As Butters said, quite a few close games the Browns have been in. I wonder if ownership would make finding a GM who would work with Shurmur a priority instead of letting the GM make his own hire.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
I’m rooting for it
December 10th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
they are when you’re throwing a 5 yard slant while your OL just stands there instead of cut blocks like every other team that’s run slants in the play’s history.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Last week’s selections would like to have a word with you.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Remember all the talk about the Orioles run differential this year?
Just noticed that Cleveland is actually 8th in the AFC in point differential. Better than the 9-4 Colts, in fact.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
I knew you;d be pissed on that first batted down pass, that was the definition of not having a lane for your pass. The 2nd one looked like a really great job by the DL (Jackson) upon seeing the replay, as that came on his 2nd or 3rd read. I think some of it is teams are sensing they are scuffling against the OL now and resorting to just sitting back and swatting away. Browns have to compensate for that.
If RG3 is gimping around on SUN, Phil Taylor or Parker is going to come in there are wreck him.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
In a debate regarding the best running back in NFL history, I would throw Bo Jackson and Jim Brown into it. But I won’t because it would be considered racist.
/yesterday’d
December 10th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
The Lions. If I was in charge. Can’t wait for Black Millen to re-sign and overpay all those awful defensive players then draft some more skill position players to surround hillbilly.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
I completely agree. That was beyond disappointing. It was basically a rerash of the Bo Knows Bo videocassette I had back in 93, learned absolutely nothing new. The editing with the cut to cartoon storyboards was fucking awful too.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
Jets could totally back their way into the playoffs, if PIT and CIN keep shitting the bed. Remaining schedules:
Jets (6-7): @ TEN, v. SD, @ BUF
Steelers (7-6): @ DAL, v. CIN, v. CLE
Bengals (7-6): @ PHI, @ PIT, v. BAL
December 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
or just don’t fire the current GM…if a change has to be made its the HC not the GM in my opinion.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
There is no BONE on that list. I think they might squeak in “thuggish ruggish bone” or “first of the month.”
December 10th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
At least the Colts have a marquee quarterback who will still be worth watching when they go 4-12 next year.

December 10th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Did you know Adrian Peterson has 8300+ yards and 74 TDs already? And he’s only 27? Greatest of all time when it’s all said and done.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
or just don’t fire the current GM…if a change has to be made its the HC not the GM in my opinion.
I am cautiously leaning on the side of continuity at HC and absolutely for keeping Heckert. But I am still thinking it’d be wise to wait 3 weeks and evaulate. If this team lays down and takes some brutal beatings the next 3 weeks, that would cause some consideration.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Kazzy – Jets don’t have tiebreaker vs. Steelers and Ravens likely won’t have anything to play for in final week of the season.
That being said … yes, been talking about the Jets backing in for a couple weeks now (since Rams win).
It won’t happen. And they’d likely get whipped badly in the first round by someone.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
What ..no chub rock?
December 10th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
…said no one outside of Ohio.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
I’d make fun of the Jets screwing up their draft position, but the 2013 draft looks 2005-level bad.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
It’d most likely be NE as the 3 seed. That would be awesome.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I’ve found this ends up ruining the actual song for me when I listen to it. Which is sad
December 10th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
When ownership changed I thought a GM change was inevitable. I’m also a front office NFL expert.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
Who ya got as the 2 seed?
December 10th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
The Georgia Dome is already obsolete
December 10th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
I’m starting to get there myself (can’t believe I am saying that honestly). There is something to be said as to how hard the players seem to play under him. Spencer (I think) mentioned it earlier but you can see these young guys getting better every week, I would think coaching has something to do with it.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:47 AM

Falcons have been talking about a new stadium for years.
Georgia Dome will be empty when the Falcons lose their first playoff game again.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
If Heckert/Shurmer stay, the Browns off season will be really quiet. Extend or let Cribs and Dawson go. Re-sign Parker. Find agreeable terms to extend Haden and Ward.
Then its just another draft and position battles. They need a slot WR, CB2, DE, FS. I dont see any major FA signings unless they have to replace Dawson.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
yeah this nfl draft looks as bad as last years looked good. shitshow.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
NE would have to lose their next two games, which is totally possible, though they’re both home games in December. Gotta say I am so glad Peyton didnt fade into oblivion this year, I was really gonna miss rooting against him in the playoffs.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Browns do not need a new GM. Heckert has been fantastic. The Browns writers (mainly the great Terry Pluto) has been calling BS on the Lombardi to Cleveland rumors, saying that it has been Lombardi and his cronies planting the information.
I am still iffy on the head coach. He definitely has their attention from Monday through Saturday. They looked like they had a plan yesterday.
If they choose to go another direction with the head coach, Jauron MUST stay though. That guy has that defense playing lights out. They are strong, physical, and fast. They need another corner, plus a safety or two. A rush end wouldn’t hurt, but not necessary.
The Browns are a few pieces away now, which is nice considering how long it’s been since they’ve been that close.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Dawson should be extended and I think cribbs will(should) not be resigned
December 10th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
The Ravens are going to be 9-6 going into week 17, playing DEN and NYG the next 2 weeks. Both games are @ BAL, however.

That is one too many.
didn’t manage to shoehorn Jack White in there somewhere.
That’s funny. And true.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
what are the chances of a coaching change and the new guy not wanting to hire his own assistants? Same situation as a GM not being able to hire his own HC
December 10th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I hope the new stadium in Atlanta will have a retractable roof. We already have a fickle fan base, last thing we need is for fans to use a 50 degrees and overcast day as an excuse to not attend Falcons game.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Agreed.
Also there was no Gang Starr and only one Tribe entry, ridiculous. Decent list overall though.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
This and This.
Dawson must stay. Benjamin makes Cribbs expendable.
And, please tell me that Week 17 is for Pittsburgh’s playoff life. Please, please, please.
December 10th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
I know it is possible to win both, but playing HOU and then SF on a short week? Brutal.
If I were NE, I would much rather be the #4 seed and play IND, than be #6 and probably play PIT.

December 10th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
Yeah I forgot Denver got their 10th win, I am still skeptical they close out the season on an 11 game winning streak though. I leave it in the hands of Flacco or Weeden(gulp).
December 10th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
Scenario is maybe the 8th best Tribe song too.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
Steelers were smart enough to keep LeBeau… Actually, they demanded it.
That’s the difference between the two organizations. The Browns need continuity, not change. They’ve been changing for 12 years. It’s got to stop. I want Heckert to stay, period. His drafting has been top notch. I want Jauron around as well. If that means that Shurmur stays, then so be it.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Can the Steelers still win the north?

“Handyman kidnapped by couple; forced to fix dishwasher, other appliances before escaping”
Crazy story. Nice Ottawa Senators windbreaker on the dude kidnapper. What’s amazing is that when they made him pain the foyer, he insisted on applying two coats for a quality finish.

I mean a one billion dollar stadium and the only public funding coming from a hotel tax, that’s not that bad of a deal for the city.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
It’s hard to believe that Georgia Dome is only 20 years old. You could easily convince me that it was built during the 60′s. It’s nothing but a huge concrete slab.

If they win out and the Ravens lose out they will win it, not sure what the tiebreaks look like if they end up tied though as they split.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Yes, although I can’t imagine the tiebreaker would be in their favor after dropping that game to Cleveland…plus I don’t think they leave Dallas with a win
December 10th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
They win out, while BAL loses out.
*I meant to say NE #3 seed in the other comment, but that was obvious.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:05 AM
I’d put a lot more money on the likelihood of the Steelers losing out than winning out. They are not good.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:05 AM
Scenario is maybe the 8th best Tribe song too.
Indians’ Fever, I’m a Believer is good. It’s Tribe Time Now! is catchy. Talkin Tribe though is probably the best Tribe song.

I’ve never been, but I guarantee you the Metrodome makes it look like Taj friggin Mahal
December 10th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
They’re shitty.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Steelers division odds are 3.6%
December 10th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
I think they manage to get one of the games, but fall behind Denver by that one game and end up the 3 and play whoever limps into the playoffs (PIT, CINCY, BAL).
The thing I don’t like in that scenario is having to go play at Denver, with their injuries it would remind of them having to go to San Diego in 2006 and winning there. Possible but tough sledding.

Goes to Experia, see’s hotel for $59 a night. Prepares to ring out, total comes to $121.60 per night due to taxes and some county temporary residency fee.

Exactly, although it will be odd to watch Peyton have a home playoff game yet be out in the elements. Even his last 2 home games could have a weather element to them. I guess we’ll see whether his ‘dome qb’ reputation is overblown or not.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
Ben Roethlisberger is a forcible dome QB.

every time i’ve been in a dome i’ve gotten a drab feeling….kibbie, kingdome, superdome. sterile and wrong

Python hunt
Interesting.
Auburn University’s Vet school has a canine detection program where they’ve trained dogs to find pythons (as well as other plant and animal species). Combine that with their membership in the NRA collegiate shooting program and we might be looking at a winner.
/I can only assume the value of the dog is much higher than the $1500 prize awarded.

Heldover what did you like best about KTS? – Roast
Wife and I really liked the writing. I felt Pitt did a superb job. Even though it was heavy-handed, we both liked the economic collapse backdrop throughout, especially Pitt’s closing soliloquy. And the violence was pretty top notch.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:39 AM
At least its not Fulton County Stadium

For the eleventy hundreth time, Denver is not Hoth.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:41 AM
agreed on all, held. gritty, indie feel i didn’t expect. for some reason i could not stop laughing during the heroin shooting scene. i was a little drunk
SPOILER SORT OF
violence was not as bad as i feared. i’m good with blood but not fractures. liotta took a beating, and the scene of his shooting was very cool

Has there ever been a stadium in this country with a shorter life than the Charlotte Coliseum? From built to demolished in twenty years.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:48 AM
I think Miami Arena only lasted about 10 years.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
For usage they might have the record, but they both opened in ’88 and Miami Arena was tore down the year after the Coliseum.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:53 AM
A list that really drives our priorities home.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:54 AM
After the Hornets left the Coliseum was relegated to the WNBA having primary usage, and Miami Arena’s was host to the U’s bball team and a minor league hockey team named…..the Manatees.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
And yet the Bojangles Coliseum still stands
December 10th, 2012 at 10:58 AM
They did have the Bobcats’ first season while TW was being built.
And had to have set the worst attendance record for an expansion team that year, third from the bottom. Charlotte, serious sports town!
December 10th, 2012 at 10:59 AM
It’ll always be Independence/Cricket Arena to me.
December 10th, 2012 at 11:00 AM
The Vet was an absolute shithole. I’m glad its gone.

Those Rolling Stone top whatever lists are generally crap. But it was good to see the Geto Boys get some love on this one.
Amazed that Cricket is still standing. Do the Checkers still play there?
December 10th, 2012 at 11:07 AM
I actually did not know that. Whenever I drive by the site of the Coliseum on Tyvola when I visit home I always feel glum. Part of the childhood and all.
December 10th, 2012 at 11:09 AM
Honest to god neither did I, I was looking to see how many monster truck rallies they held and saw that, had completely forgot.
December 10th, 2012 at 11:10 AM
Predictable list but at least they did not put “Hypnotize” higher than “Juicy” for BIG. Also, Wu-Tang’s debut album>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Any album done since!

The last event I attended at the Coliseum was a Bruce Springsteen concert.

Duke/Davidson in January 2002 for me.
December 10th, 2012 at 11:24 AM
I used to play a lot of soccer at Renaissance Park. The thing that really got me about that was that he was racing David Wesley, and Wesley was supposed to not be driving, yet there was his Escalade parked at the Harris YMCA right after the accident…..in a handicapped spot. Someone to root for I guess.

You can take the player out of Baylor, but you can’t take the Baylor proclivity for murdering teammates out of the player.
December 10th, 2012 at 11:30 AM
This would be even better had Rae Carruth and Mrs. Fred Lane also attended Baylor.
