Marcus Lattimore Entering NFL Draft: Where Does He Get Picked?
Marcus Lattimore will enter the 2013 NFL Draft. The South Carolina running back might have first-round talent. His football future is unsure, though, after the gruesome knee injury he suffered against Tennessee. Rehab may keep him out until 2014 (probably has a better shot working full-time with NFL doctors and trainers). His situation resembles that of Willis McGahee entering the 2003 NFL Draft.
McGahee was bound for the Top 10, before blowing out multiple ligaments in the BCS Championship game. The Bills chose him at No. 23 overall in the first round, still the first running back taken. He sat out for a year, before debuting with 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2004.
Lattimore has a few additional impediments to overcome. He will have two surgically repaired knees, rather than one. His left knee was still not 100 percent from his 2011 injury before injuring his right during 2012. McGahee was coming off a dominant college season. With Lattimore, a team is projecting based on his 2010 freshman year. He’s smart, does a number of little things well and should have a role to play in the NFL. Whether he can recover that power and stamina to break tackles and be an NFL-level work horse is another matter.
Where Lattimore goes will be intriguing. This is not a strong running back class. Unless someone has a strong combine, there may not be one taken in the first round. How much further Lattimore falls may depend on how far along his rehab is going at the combine. Will teams go for the higher ceiling or the higher floor?

Late first round/ early second. Will have the career of Willis/AP
December 10th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
I’d guess 4th.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:08 PM
3rd round
December 10th, 2012 at 3:08 PM
im not entirely sure he wouldve been drafted in the top half even if he hadn’t blown up his knee. im thinking 3rd round somewhere.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
6th round
December 10th, 2012 at 3:12 PM
When was the last time there wasn’t a QB or RB taken in the first round? I mean it obviously should not happen this year but you know someone is taking Smith.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:12 PM
Handy dandy guide of where every RB was drafted
I think he’s in the Demarco Murray/Stevan Ridley range
December 10th, 2012 at 3:12 PM

He’d go well Joique Bell. LeShoure sucks.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
Michael Bush is a pretty good comp…he went in the 4th round, and took a year off in the NFL.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
frank gore is his role model
December 10th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
Free agent.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:16 PM
Late 3rd round. Think he would be good for a team like the Falcons or Steelers.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
Well, that narrows it down
December 10th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
best case scenario: late second round as a luxury pick to a good team.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
I enjoyed this bit from Bill Barnwell’s column today
“Just to rub it in, Lions fans: Remember that the Packers took Cobb with the final pick of the second round, the 64th overall selection, while the Lions chose Titus Young with the 44th pick. Yes, the guy who purposely lines up in the wrong spots to try to sabotage the offense. I know that Cobb benefits from getting to play with the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, but … it’s Titus Young.”
December 10th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
I know it only takes one, but that seems high. I’m going to say that 30 teams won’t touch him before the 4th round. Who the other 2 teams are, I have no idea.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
You failed to mention the most obvious reason with why he wil slide; that being that RBs are a dime a dozen. No sense in drafting one very high unless he’s a lock to be a stud, like Richardson last year.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
Jr. or Sr.???? Which one is it. Alas, if only there was a way to inform me of the distinction, perhaps even in textual format on the back of his uniform.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
Titus Young kind of comes off as a useless bag of dicksnot sometimes.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
Texans will take him in the 4th. Tate has proven unreliable and will be a free agent about the time Lattimore should be healthy again.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
No way he goes in the first three rounds
December 10th, 2012 at 3:23 PM
Good point Watsonian…. I hate the idea of drafting any RB in the 1st round, but Richardson might have been the exception to me, too. The first LSU game, he really stood out to me, doing little things that gained a few extra yards here and there. Really like him as a player, though I haven’t seen him at all as a pro.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
I feel like you say this in every post about any player. “Trade him to my team” or “He’ look good on my team.”
December 10th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
Titus Young kind of comes off as a useless bag of dicksnot sometimes.
Feeling generous today I see
December 10th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
Feeling generous today I see
I don’t see him all the time like Lions fans do so I was allowing for the possibility that he gives free foot massages to his fellow receivers or somethings.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:26 PM
I think McGahee is a better comp for the leg injury type.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:26 PM
I’m convinced Vlad is a Google bot at this point.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Where will Jonathan Hankins go? Top 10? Top 20?
December 10th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Trade him to the Jets!
December 10th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Titus Young has a lot of talent, he’s just a complete moron. The cold of Detroit will at least have helped to prepare him for his future home in the great white north.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Just another wasted draft pick by Mayhew.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Has a team shown less regard for injury and attitude in the draft over the last several years? Young, Suh, Best, and Smith. Fairley too, but that seems to be working. It’s like the Titans, when they took Pacman, Young, Haynesworth, Chris Johnson, Kenny Britt. So put the Lions down for Lattimore, probably a few rounds before anyone else would touch him
December 10th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
New Bears head coach Mike Tice will lobby for the pick in an effort to “build a power running game.” Meanwhile, 1 pick will be used on OL, a 245 pound guard from Delaware.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
people keep saying this (im guilty as well) but not sure it’s true…yes, underpaid guys hungry to prove they have a spot in the NFL is great motivation to play that brutal position, but RB’s not getting paid has more to do with the fragility of the position rather than some surplus in quality.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
I just peed a little at the thought of this
December 10th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
In mocks he’s usually in that 6-10 range. I think he goes in that 12-17 range.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
am i crazy for thinking that he’s getting all the hype john simon should be getting? how is john simon any different than chris long? well, aside from the family bloodlines and all that…
December 10th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
useless bag of dicksnot
i must know of the useful ones
December 10th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
Also that very few backs are game-breakers, and there are 10 Marion Barbers for every Adrian Peterson, in a league where short passing schemes have replaced many running plays. And it almost never ever makes sense to give them a second contract, so it’s tough to use a 1st round pick on a guy with a slim chance of having 4 good years and moving on.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:32 PM
Fair enough. Wrong phrase by me, but what you said is actually part of what I meant.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:32 PM

Has Suh fully engendered widespread hatred around the rest of the league by now? I really can’t stand the guy and kind of hate the Lions for it. I can’t remember the last time a player just has as many cheap/dangerous or cheap/stupid (eg the harmless but incredibly stupid shove on Rodgers last night) plays. He really makes it tough for me to avoid the high horse. There just shouldn’t be a place in the game for him.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:34 PM
Just when the Pats fans were trying to convince themselves that a player with 3.8 ypc was going to adequately replace Curtis Martin, simply because he got 1,000 yards.

I agree with Milk Steak. He’ll be taken in the last round as a “what the hell” or the first rookie free-agent signing of the draft.

I prefer my ruminating to be loud.

December 10th, 2012 at 3:37 PM
It isn’t just that he’s a filthy player, but that he always has some bullshit plausible deniability he tries to play up. And his repeated off the field controversies aren’t doing him any favors. The incidents haven’t been huge, but they have been constant
December 10th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
Has Suh fully engendered widespread hatred around the rest of the league by now?
Yes.
Next topic.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
You mean Ndamukong over purSuh?
December 10th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
That shove was only the 2nd flag he got all season. The first was for offsides.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
oh, there’s one and he’s still playing…KC DT shaun smith. dude is absolute filth, you just never hear about him because he’s fucking horrible. check out trent richardson’s reaction to smith’s choke yesterday…great pic.
richie incognito, harvey dahl, ngata…lotta filth in the NFL. much of it in the trenches, not surprisingly so either.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
The best thing Lattimore can do now is to make sure ESPN gets the story out about how hard he’s been working… how great his character is. “man, it kills me to not be on the field with my guys, so I spend 4 hours a day breaking down film, coaching up the other RB’s… this has really made me a better person and every day I work harder and harder on my rehab, just to get back on that field”
December 10th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
Has Suh fully engendered widespread hatred around the rest of the league by now?
I stopped going to SubWay b/c of him.
/not really. I stopped going to subway long ago, but continue to boycott b/c of him
December 10th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
Cortland Finnegan. I don’t know that what he does is ‘dangerous’ per se, but among receivers he’s widely considered the dirtiest DB in the league.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
Bernard Pollard may be the dirtiest player in the league
December 10th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
Touché?
shrugs. i almost said …’they were made out of burlap’
December 10th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
Fairley’s creeping closer by the game.
Waiting to see how the fine will be for that cheap shot last night where he grabbed Rodgers by the neck and piled him into the ground.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
Yeah, they don’t always show it all, but there is such a disconnect between the flags and the plays, as Watsonian alluded to. I guess there’s off-field stuff too, but mostly I’m just going by on-field play.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:40 PM

Emmitt Smiff used to love watching video of himself masturbating the ball down the feel so gently.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
WWOS…not sure what youre getting at. suh does take it to an extreme, but the only reason shaun smith doesn’t get the same level of pub is because he’s a horrible, horrible player. his antics tho? the exact same. he denied grabbing alex mack’s junk even after being confronted with video and pictorial evidence.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
I did see a pretty nice shot of the David Wilson return where they showed all the blockers hit the guys at the same time, and he shot through the hole, and pointed out how critical the timing was because it’s impossible to hold blocks past a second.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:45 PM
the vandy logo is reminiscent of a cult symbol
December 10th, 2012 at 3:45 PM
Mostly just that I’ve seen Suh and he seems like a total shithead. I completely cede the point to anyone who suggests it’s talent/notoriety which makes it seem like he’s worse than the others. But yeah, it seems like something that if the NFL had balls, they could eliminate pretty quickly.
I was pretty pissed no suspension for the groin kick to Schaub.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:46 PM
ANCHOR DOWN!
/not really sure what that means
December 10th, 2012 at 3:48 PM
I think Suh gets a bad rap because he’s acually good. I’m not saying he’s clean or anything, but I think his crimes have been been exaggerated. For instance, take the “kick” to that douche Matt Schaub. More than likely, that was an accident.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:48 PM
if the NFL had balls, it’d still be as entertaining as it used to be.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:49 PM
It’s become very trendy for fans (and maybe even GM’s) to eschew taking RB’s in the first round. Not sure I’m buying it.
If I had time, I’d love to do a study of the 1st round RB’s in this century and compare their value to average, somehow.
Let’s see: The three RB’s chosen in the first round last year: Richardson, Martin and Wilson
The previous year: Ingram
The year before that: Spiller, Matthews, Best
Some hits and misses. Maybe if I have time tomorrow…
December 10th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
Peaked his rookie season.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
The eff it was. The initial contact, yes. The extension, not a chance that was accidental.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
Ingram is being wasted on the Saints. I don’t know why they ever chose him in the first place.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
Not the kick. That was so deliberate. I don’t believe he targeted Schaub’s junk though.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
A lot of people say that. But if you really watch a Lions game (and don’t throw up), he’s double teamed 90% of the time.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
I worked at a Subway on Market St. in San Francisco for about two days. They never paid me. Dude did piss on the wall during the lunch rush, though.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
He made contact with something, and kicked out… not sure he could tell what body part he was kicking at. No one can convince me it was accidental though.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
For instance, take the “kick” to that douche Matt Schaub. More than likely, that was an accident.
Full speed I thought the same thing. Then I saw the replay and he sees that his foot has ended up in a position where he can kick Schaub and you can see him move it to make sure he does get him.
As for calling Schaub a douche, the guy lost part of his ear earlier this year on a hit from a Broncos LB. And he missed one play. That sounds pretty far from douchy to me.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
my #boycottsubway campaign is over 6 months now. Used to go 1-2 times a month to change up my lunch, because they were close/convenient.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
A lot of people say that. But if you really watch a Lions game (and don’t throw up), he’s double teamed 90% of the time.
Even if you throw up he is still getting double teamed
December 10th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
Kniles Davis could go anywhere and what about Michael Dwyer? Isn’t he worth a ham sandwich as an undrafted free agent?

December 10th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
So is Geno Atkins. Stop being a Suh apologist. The 2 previous games he was excellent though. They have to trade him in the offseason for picks.

I just watched the video. He never “kicked out.” But that’s exactly what I’m talking about. He’s got the “dirty” label, so it doesn’t matter what actually happened. Everyone just assumes it’s on purpose.

Every sorority has a symbol which they are associated with. Delta Gamma is associated with the anchor. The chapter at SMU happened to be known as the slutty girls. So the saying “nothing goes down faster than an anchor” was a common one in my college days.

Bo Jackson does not approve.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:57 PM
You’re lucky, he probably saved up to crap in the BART station.
Also, Ingram has been a complete waste of two No. 1 picks for the Saints.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:57 PM
Mind you I don’t have anything against the guy. I actually enjoy players that play dirty because it makes a mockery of the NFL’s bullshit “NO IT’S SAFE HERE’S MURDERRAY’S MOM!” PR blitz.
December 10th, 2012 at 3:57 PM
I just watched the video. He never “kicked out.” But that’s exactly what I’m talking about. He’s got the “dirty” label, so it doesn’t matter what actually happened. Everyone just assumes it’s on purpose.
He either kicked or had an involuntary foot spasm. Which do you think more likely.

A douche wouldn’t have cried to media about Suh “did.” I don’t care what else he ever does, whining to the media like that earns the douche label.

December 10th, 2012 at 3:59 PM
The leg whip is a penalty, regardless of intent. There was no reason for Suh’s leg to be extended in such a fashion without malicious intent. People assume it’s dirty because he has an extended rap sheet of filth
December 10th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
You’re right. I’d probably call ESPN and see if I can go on air to complain about it.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
Except for the leg extension, you mean.
I thought he tried to avoid talking about it.
I usually agree with you, but I think you are off-base here. Most of us are pretty objective here, and I think you are clearly seeing through Lions-cum eyeglasses for this one.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
The “a guy like that could never play for us, we don’t do that here” quote was douchetastic
December 10th, 2012 at 4:02 PM
I think Lattimore goes in Joe Flacco territory.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:03 PM
Where do you put Wilfork, out of curiosity. I’m looking forward to see how much he can do in the 4-3, and who they put next to him, tonight (and how much they actually use the 4-3).
/or I would, if ESPN would ever show the defensive line
December 10th, 2012 at 4:03 PM
a leg whip is only a leg whip if you’re trying to tackle or block someone.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:03 PM
I’m just trying to say his “dirtiness” has bee exaggerated, which in turn makes people assume everything he does is dirty.
And yes, I’m a complete homer.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:04 PM
You’re right. I’d probably call ESPN and see if I can go on air to complain about it.
Donnie, you’re out of your element. Let’s go at this way: does Schaub have a history of complaining? Not to my knowledge. Does Suh have a reputation for taking cheap shots? Yes, yes he does. That may not be fair but them’s the breaks. And trying to pin this on Schaub somehow, the guy who got kicked in the first place, is pretty Suh-tacular of you.

December 10th, 2012 at 4:06 PM
somewhere in there…he’s excellent. he’ll be fine in a 4-3 because he’ll have the exact same responsibilities he has now.
it really depends on what you classify as interior DL. do 3-4 ends count?
December 10th, 2012 at 4:06 PM
I could actually agree with you on this. He’s not the ‘dirtiest by far’ as you might think if you watch enough ESPN, but he’s more like ‘top 10′ dirtiest, by any measure.
I was more saying that’s extension, whether I like Suh or not, that much was purposeful.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:07 PM
so did his wife.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
I liked you bette when you were black
so did his wife.
An attempted cheapshot in a conversation about Suh? It fits thematically so I’ll allow it.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
I know the Suh kick wasn’t worthy of a leg whip penalty. I’m saying the “he couldn’t control his leg” defense of Suh is nonsense. There would be no leg whip penalty in football if the uncontrollable flying leg was a real thing
December 10th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
I guess I’d say a 3-4 who shifts inside when they go 4-3 counts. Someone who can’t play inside though, no. It’s definitely a gray area, but I imagine most teams must have sets for both.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:09 PM
Unfortunately, while my love for John Simon is eternal (no Coop), he’s closer to Mike Kudla than Cam Heyward.
Hankins is closer to Dan Wilkinson (taking the #1 pick out of it) than Tim Anderson.

speaking of cheap/annoying linemen… dude absolutely raked someone in the face, got mad at the penalty, saw him do it on replay, then raised his arms in the ‘what did i do?’ manner.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:14 PM
WWOS…do you really think belichick’s D is gonna look that much different with four guys with their hands on the ground rather than only three?
at this point, when even DICK JAURON runs hybrid fronts, it’s kind of a waste of time to delineate between the two in all but the most extreme cases.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:14 PM
The groin shot… Sasha Grey’s drink of choice.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:15 PM
lets see…ngata, wilfork, geno atkins, kyle williams in buffalo…
yea, no doubt suh is top 10. NO DOUBT.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
Suh Suhcks.
/went there
December 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
Fuck you. Really. I made this point two years ago, that the only difference for the Pats was if they had an extra guy put his hand on the ground, and you lost your shit at me, that I don’t know football and it completely changes the scheme.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
Hero…although I wouldn’t call the hands to the face cheap, that shit just happens in the league
The late hit they didn’t call on Jerel Worthy however, that was bad, you can remove the player from Michigan State…
December 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
Not this year, but Fletcher Cox is gonna wreck shit as he develops more.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
Coefield, Atkins, Red Bryant, Dan Williams, Casey Hampton, Randy Starks…there are a bunch of defenses I haven’t watched much of this year, so maybe I’m missing some. Clev, Jax, Oak, KC, Buff come to mind. Suh is a top pass rushing dt, but the penalties and questionable run play devalue him greatly IMO
December 10th, 2012 at 4:17 PM
lol
December 10th, 2012 at 4:18 PM
That dude who crushed Stafford late after the Fairly hit on Rodgers got a few high fives on the sidelines, I bet.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:18 PM
Fletcher Cox
What a thoroughly Dickensian name.
/smokes pipe
//gets kicked in the junk by Suh
///gets called a douche by Watsonian for getting in the way of Suh’s foot
December 10th, 2012 at 4:18 PM
well yea…you probably deserved it.
there is a difference, but not when the same guy’s calling and designing the plays bro. it’s not like belichick’s gonna start running monte kiffin’s defense now.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
I deleted two more ‘fuck yous’. Spencer was more of a dieck than ms621 in the WAR conversation.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
I deleted two more ‘fuck yous’. Spencer was more of a dieck than ms621 in the WAR conversation.
The difference is I apologized for it. He remains Dieck however.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
red bryant’s a good one.
CASEY HAMPTON tho? in 2012? CMON.
i get what youre saying regarding penalties and cheap shots tho.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Hahaha. Gholston is the only dirty player at MSU. And he sucked so bad this year he’s going to have to come back for his senior season.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:20 PM
therein lies the isesue. Most of the football I watch really closely is the Pats. Doesn’t really matter to me what scheme Harbaugh installed in SF until the Pats play them.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:20 PM
CASEY HAMPTON tho? in 2012? CMON.
Highest rated defense in the league bro.
/still can’t believe that
December 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Haven’t paid enough attention to guys like Cox, Dareus, Taylor, McCoy, or even the other two Lion dt’s to comment on them. But even guys like old Richard Seymour and Mo Wilkerson are comparable to Suh. Is Ziggy Hood any good?
December 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
and im fairly consistent with my arguments…i feel like you should dig up the original post.
i mightve just been salty with you for some reason and wanted to pick a fight.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Still one of the toughest guys in the league to move
December 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Only if you whine about it to the media
December 10th, 2012 at 4:22 PM
therein lies the isesue. Most of the football I watch really closely is the Pats. Doesn’t really matter to me what scheme Harbaugh installed in SF until the Pats play them.
This is a clever defense. Ignorance disguised by fandom.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:22 PM
There’s nothing to apologize for. I was a dick to him. He was a dick to me. I say fuck you. He says I deserve it. I probably did. I just won’t invite him to Thanksgiving… it’s just the internet.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:22 PM
Only if you whine about it to the media
Well I am on hold with Dan Patrick. Are you saying I should hang up?
December 10th, 2012 at 4:23 PM
man shit, ive been watching alex mack move his ass for 2/3 of two games for the past three seasons. no fuckin’ way because, even if i cede his run stopping prowess (which im not) he’s NOT EVEN ON THE FIELD on 3rd downs.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:23 PM
There’s nothing to apologize for.
There is, in my opinion, when the person being the dick is thoroughly wrong. Which I was. Thus the apology. If I had been right I wouldn’t have apologized for that shit at all.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:24 PM
I’m sure in my post I was talking about the Patriots and generalizing too far. A team running mostly 3-4 is different than a team running mostly 4-3, in assignments and goals… but when a specific team switches between the two, not much changes.
/WWoS: Consensus Builder
December 10th, 2012 at 4:25 PM
im not a dieck, bro.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:25 PM
and when dick jauron is running a zone blitz on 3rd down OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:26 PM
First off, Alex Mack is a beast. As for the 3rd down argument, no pure nose stays in for pash rush. There are teams that don’t use any dt’s in clear passing downs
December 10th, 2012 at 4:26 PM
Can’t take him seriously as a football players, since 11-year old me had a crush on Larisa Olneyk.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:27 PM
Scrotums…I can confirm that there are no top 10 DTs on the Raiders. Especially Seymour…that lazy fuck.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:27 PM
Gerald McCoy is fucking legit this year. Run stopping and creating massive interior pressure.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:28 PM
wilfork is in there at least occasionally. and it’s also why i dont have many true, pure NT’s in there. aubrayo franklin for SD’s been better as a pure NT than hampton’s been tihs year too.
/really thought franklin wouldve been better for NO
December 10th, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Someone asked Bedard on twitter if the Pats might take Seymour back after the season. The answer was a derisive no.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Helps to have Wilfork. Easily the most versatile, and probably the best, defensive lineman in the NFL
December 10th, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Last night the Lions had Suh rushing from an upright position on third down a few times.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:29 PM
a) larisa olneyk is awesome
b) sctrojans is right bout the real alex mack. probably remembers him from cal/USC games.
c) dude’s the best center in the league…if only NFL pundits watched browns games
December 10th, 2012 at 4:29 PM
wilfork over ngata? that’s a tough call…
December 10th, 2012 at 4:30 PM
It makes you realize how poorly used he was in NO.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:31 PM
I wonder why? They took Branch back. It isn’t like Seymour is a first-rate asshole like Asante Samuel. Maybe because Seymour took the whole situation too personally, creating sour grapes on both sides
December 10th, 2012 at 4:32 PM
Ngata is definitely in the mix
December 10th, 2012 at 4:33 PM
damn…i remember that line NE had with ty warren, seymour and wilfork. good god was that a great DL.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:33 PM
im taking phil taylor and in 2 years, i hope youre still around to praise my prognostication.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:34 PM
Yes and no. It was that way back in the first Superbowl victory, moving McGinest on and off the line. Even back in the first Superbowl (1996) with Parcells. Though I couldn’t name a single interior lineman on that team.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:34 PM
Even though only 53% of public money is on the Pats (according to iOdds), that line has moved all the way to Pats -6.5 today. Big move. Vegas really trying to get money on the Texans. I fear this means the Pats win by a couple of TDs.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:35 PM
I didn’t put any money on it but I’m sticking with Pats 31, Texans 23.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:38 PM
Looking back at the numbers, they had a few years with top-5 in the league sacks. Just a few though… usually 14-25. Patriots haven’t ever really prioritized sacks on defense.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:40 PM
I think ms621 has it about right. I have Pats to win and cover. This game means enough and they have the rest etc to get it done. They want this more than the SF game. If they lose by 10+ tonight, I dont think they have a chance get to the SB
December 10th, 2012 at 4:42 PM
I was home briefly during lunch and put ESPN on. The narrative on there is that the Texans have built this game up so much that it could be “devastating” to their team psyche if they lose. But if they win well it’s just another win.
In possibly related news I think my IQ went down 5 points during lunch.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:46 PM
IMO this game only matters for seeding. Barring something ridiculously unexpected, my perspective on either team’s playoff chances won’t be altered
December 10th, 2012 at 4:46 PM
In possibly related news I think my IQ went down 5 points during lunch.
Maybe more than 5.
Boost your intake of Omega 3′s whenever watching ESPN talking-head shows.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:50 PM
I don’t think there is any doubt that this game is a LOT more important to the Pats than to the Texans. The Texans still control their home field destiny even with a loss, while if the Pats lose, they tumble down to the 4 seed. And they still play SF next week.
I hope the Pats and Broncos end up with the 2 and 3 seeds, so that it is possible that the Texans will face Flacco and then only one of Manning or Brady.
December 10th, 2012 at 4:51 PM
All I care about tonight is that Arian Foster can put up 100+ yds (rush & receiving) a TD or two. And that Owen Daniels & Jerod Mayo dies.
