Ballin’: Kobe Keeps Scoring, Lakers Keep Losing
LA Clippers 102, Toronto 83: The Paper Clips won their 6th in a row as their reserves owned the 4th quarter (25-10). The Raptors are 4-17 and headed toward disaster. Eric Bledsoe had 14 points in 19 minutes off the bench. Jamal Crawford finally missed a free throw after making 58 straight.
LA Lakers 110, Utah 117: The Lakers can’t stop anyone these days, as the Jazz shot 54 percent and dropped LA to 1-9 when Kobe scores over 30 points (he finished with 34). How does a team with Dwight Howard get outscored 54-34 in the paint? The Lakers made 15 three-pointers and Pau Gasol didn’t play. Paul Millsap led six Jazz in double figures with 24 points.
Orlando 98, Phoenix 90: The Suns provided arguably the best highlight in Ballin’ … but lost their 7th straight. As the Michael Beasley turns: 15 minutes, two shots. Magic rookie Andrew Nicholson from St. Bonaventure continues to put up impressive numbers: 19 points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. It was his 7th double-figure scoring game this season.
Brooklyn 88, Milwaukee 97: The Bucks let a 29-point lead get cut to six, but held on for a nice road victory. The Nets have lost four in a row, and it’s no surprise Brook Lopez has missed all of those games (foot).
Oklahoma City 104, Indiana 93: The Pacers shot 60 percent in the first half, but still lost. Nobody’s hotter than the Thunder, who have won eight in a row and have tied the Spurs for the best record in the NBA. Check out what Russell Westbrook did to Roy Hibbert.
New York 112, Denver 106: The Knicks are 15-5 after a strong 4th quarter beat the Nuggets. Carmelo Anthony returned from a two-game absence to score 34 points against his former team. Interesting/odd stat – Melo and JR Smith (19 points) took exactly half of the team’s shots (43 of 86).

I think they’ve already reached their destination.

At what point can I start looking at those first round picks they traded for Nash with excitement?

I refuse to believe this is true about a Mike D’Antoni team.

Surprise from OKC, Thabeet has actually had moments of productivity this year. They are getting something out of him Memphis never could. I’m mildly happy for the guy. He’ll never be Bill Russell, but that’s OK.

When Nash is back do they start giving up 130 a night?
The far and away best thing about the Lakers is that anyone who was paying attention was saying when the trades were made that they would be fucking horrendous on defense, but that sure as hell didn’t stop the rest of the people from crowning their asses.

our schedenfruede regarding the heat of two years ago has shifted to the lakers mostly because of dwight

I wasn’t crowning their asses but did feel they would be a slight favorite in the West. I was obviously wrong. Shouldn’t a team with Howard, Gasol, Peace and Kobe on the floor be at least adequate defensively? The damn hoopdata.com stats I look at are a week old now (update, please!), but at that time they were 8th in defensive efficiency.

anyone else impressed that Hibert held on to the ball during that block? I was.

they fired the coach who was good at coaching defense, and brought in the coach with the gimmick offense who isn’t good at coaching defense. People crack on the Knicks because of the age of some of their players, yet at the same time fall for the idea that the good fortunes of the Lakers’ season hinges on a 40 year old point guard. Just gullible.

I was impressed with Atlanta’s beatdown of the grizz on the road saturday

Holy shit, TG sighting.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:55 AM
Well the Knicks are still going to die down the stretch.
December 10th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
The Knicks will be fine down the stretch, and they won’t even need any of the HGH they’re giving out in Phoenix.

Raptors fans are patiently waiting for the draft where they’ll be dicked over again like every other year.
December 10th, 2012 at 11:00 AM
Vez, I know. I know.
One other thing about that game, Memphis doesn’t have true shutdown defenders in the paint. Gasol will get a block every once in a while, but Randolph can get used down low.
To me, that’s where a useful, determined Thabeet coulda been a help off the bench. A poor man’s Mutumbo would make the Grizz even more formidable.

hope my team is the dick in the Raptors draft day dicking

So you get the top pick you’re either taking Zeller or Noel right, then whoever is at three takes Shabazz Y. Shabazz, then after that ….. good year for the Bobcats to potentially have three first rounders!
