Daniel Skinner of Jacksonville College Dunked From the Foul Line in a Game, But Was Called for a Charge
Dr. J and Michael Jordan have inspired so many young athletes with their foul line dunks that said slams have almost become commonplace. Both Dr. J’s and Jordan’s dunks received perfect scores from the judges in their respective dunk contests, but fast-forward to 2012 and those jams wouldn’t be enough to win some high school dunk contests.
Jacksonville College sophomore Daniel Skinner didn’t bother to save the foul-line slam for a competition – he pulled it off in a game this week.
I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that the referee called a charge on the play and the basket didn’t count. Sorry, it’s the coach in me. [via Beer Mug Sports]

Probably one of the worst charge calls of all time. Guy is still moving the entire time and slides underneath while he’s getting posterized.
Refs have zero idea how to call the charge/block.

I remember standing in gyms at the free throw line and thinking “there is no way that is possible for anyone.”

Jacksonville College sophomore Daniel Skinner, a sophomore, didn’t bother save the foul-line slam for a competition – he pulled it off in a game this week.

Crowd reaction is better than the dunk. Love it!

if this happens in D1, on ESPN … it’s a play-of-the-year contender

Why is the Jacksonville Jaguars logo on the back of their uniforms? This college isnt in Jacksonville, Fl its in Texas.
December 7th, 2012 at 2:05 PM
He still got his dap from the sideline though, and in the end, isn’t that the most important part of playing the game?
December 7th, 2012 at 2:06 PM
Jmac, how redunkulous was Skinner’s dunk?
December 7th, 2012 at 2:07 PM
Where did the hockey post go? Did it get scrapped because it didn’t include a enough uses of the word sophomore?
December 7th, 2012 at 2:07 PM
Actually, yes. Fuck pulling up for a 12 foot jumper.
December 7th, 2012 at 2:08 PM
Looks like it wasn’t the foul line, but the volleyball (or some other court) line inside the foul line.
/Also that guy.
December 7th, 2012 at 2:09 PM
This is an understatement. The defender was actively backpedaling.
Dunks are still worth 2 points, right?
December 7th, 2012 at 2:13 PM
It was #1 on the Top Plays on Sportscenter today.
December 7th, 2012 at 2:13 PM
Ha. I only noticed that after you pointed it out. He’s a good two feet inside the foul line. Now I’m unimpressed.
December 7th, 2012 at 2:13 PM
Yeah, that’s exactly it. You can’t establish position underneath the player after the player has already left his feet. That’s a block by definition.

Bayless once dunked from the 3-point arc when he was in high school, while leading his team to the state championship.

He’s an intern whose presence here is a federal violation. Sophomore.
December 7th, 2012 at 2:21 PM
Talk of charging/blocks puts me in mind of Sean Tuohy, who was the king of being able to covertly set up and take a charge when he played guard at Ole Miss. I hated it when Ole Miss played LSU in the early ’80s because he’d manage to draw a bunch of charge whistles against LSU every game.
/ Yea, the Blind Side dad

The Non-FSU Intern who doesn’t like the way his name is spelled and has father issues.
