The defensiveness is off-putting. If the site wants this type of stuff, then it shouldn’t rail on other media types for making mistakes or gaffes.

The defensiveness is off-putting

I think the defensiveness is hilarious and allows for back and forth between posters and commenters. It’s part of what makes the site entertaining.
As for the hypocrisy of railing against the mistakes of others, then refusing to admit their own…I doubt they’ll cop to this, but it’s good for business. It stirs up some passion and readers en masse don’t hold TBL to such a high standard of journalistic integrity.
