Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens Angers Georgia Tech Fans With a Tweet Slamming the Yellow Jackets
For celebrities, athletes and politicians, Twitter should be used with extreme caution. Georgia’s Attorney General, Sam Olens, found this out the hard way. After seeing a billboard congratulating the Yellow Jackets on winning the ACC Coastal division, Olens fired off this tweet:
“I just saw a billboard congratulating Tech ACC Coastal football champs! Miami won it, Tech is 6-6, how embarrassing.”
As with all Twitter missteps, Olens deleted the tweet after the ensuing backslash. If Olens were smarter, he would have said his account got hacked. Olens later apologized and oddly enough this Tweet is still visible on his account.
I apologize if I offended any students, alumni & fans of Georgia Tech. I am proud to have a renowned, world-class institution in Georgia.
— Sam Olens (@samolens) November 30, 2012
Olens had a point – after losing to Florida State 21-15 in the ACC Championship Game, the 6-7 Yellow Jackets received a waiver from the NCAA to become bowl eligible. A politician finally has the courage to tell the truth and then is predictably shot down and even more predictably gives a half-assed apology.
Democracy in action.

Technically Carolina won it, but they were ineligible, so Miami won it, but decalred themselves ineligble, so GT won it.

People in Georgia need to take the sand out of their vaginas. GT was fucking terrible this year

This is SOP for any given day in the great state of GA.
I expect this kind of idiocy on a daily basis from uga dickbags. And the usual embarrassment that comes along with it.

in Georgia, people have red clay in their vaginas. And they need to clean it out with pine straw.

Red Clay Vaginas is an excellent name for a Drive By Truckers-style band.

Can my company sponsor Ronny to do posts or will that violate his amateur status?

As a GT graduate, I agree completely. He should have stood his ground. Pretty disappointed in whatever idiots got mad about this. The team earned nothing this year, and certainly doesn’t deserve to be rewarded with a bowl game.
