Just a few days ago, Derek Jeter was humorously crowned Derek Eater, thanks in part to an awkward angle and perhaps also due to the Yankee captain borrowing an oversized t-shirt from former teammate, Sal Fasano. But even Jeter managed to find some humor in his new nickname. He surprisingly opted to thoroughly address the issue on Michael Kay’s radio show:

“I thought it was pretty funny,” Jeter told ESPN radio. “I guess there’s a lot of things you can do with a picture. The funny thing is we were just talking about, before then, the day or two before then, people were telling me I lost a lot of weight, and then two days later I’m on the front page of the New York Post … Hey listen, I’m not battling the New York Post. That’s a no-win situation.”

Sadly — for many of you — Jeter miraculously appears to be refreshed and fit once again as seen above with Harold Reynolds. The photo was taken on Sunday. Opting for a gold watch over platinum, however, remains problematic.
