The Chiefs didn’t mention him by name in the stadium, and everyone who talked about this tragedy mentioned the fact that the little girl has no parents and the mother. Tom Jackson even mentioned that before the dude killed himself, he was already a murderer.

While it certainly doesn’t quite reach the level of horribleness of the Rae Carruth incident from years ago, the bottom line is he murdered someone and left a 3 month old parentless. I think it’s sort of the awkwardness of trying to reconcile losing a teammate and seeing that teammate as a murderer. Such an unexpected and bizzarre incident. But you are right, the situation and lost life should be mourned, but the player shouldn’t be memorialized.

i found out years and years later that one of the teams we played in the HS playoffs featured Priest Holmes at RB.
