Skip Holtz Has Been Fired By South Florida
Skip Holtz has been fired by South Florida, after concluding a 3-9 season with a 27-3 loss at home to Pittsburgh. There really was no other choice.
Holtz was seen as a hot coaching commodity as recently as last season. He took East Carolina to four-straight bowl games. He then went 8-5 his first year at South Florida and started 4-0 with a win at Notre Dame in 2011. The team then got blown out 44-17 on a Thursday Night game by Pitt and has never recovered, losing 16 of their last 19 games against FBS opponents.
One could forgive Holtz’ troubles with roster turnover, but South Florida had a senior quarterback, the most returning starters in the Big East and one of the more talented rosters. They should have done more.
South Florida is not a great job, especially with how the postseason has shaken out, though there is a lot of potential for the right coach to recruit there.

Ha. You have your team suck that bad and see how many people show up. Stanford was playing for the Pac12 championship and didn’t have people there either.
