dude, im impressed as shit that human beings can create things like fighter planes and aircraft carriers and organize logistics like a continental invasion and shit. it’s really mindblowing stuff if you’re intrigued by what people are capable of.

The splitting of the atom by the Manhattan Project opened the nuclear ‘pandora’s box’ but it also provided a new way to power the ever expanding electrical grid; a way much cleaner than coal. There is the messy problem of where to store the waste by product but nuclear fission has also opened the door to the possibility of nuclear fusion which would have no waste at all and would virtually solve the world’s energy problems.

I don’t see what’s creepy about wanting to study war as an expression of national politics, sociology, anthropology, economics and will. War and the reasons for war through all of the frames I mentioned above is fascinating.

more into the concept of extremely, EXTREMELY high stakes, competition and total immersion in a deadly serious craft moreso than war itself. i kinda feel like wars are only started by assholes who aren’t doing the fighting.
