Mike Mayock is a Phanatic, Referred to Asante Samuel as “Juan Samuel”
Mike Mayock struck out tonight when he identified Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel as Juan Samuel, the old Philadelphia second basemen and current third base coach. (Get it, Samuel was a strikeout machine, leading the league four straight years. no? okay.)
Same spelling, different emphasis on the syla-bulls. I do weirder stuff than this, so I just want to say thanks for taking me back to the baseball of my youth, and since there is no one with the last name “Lezcano” this will have to do.

Von Hayes > Juan Samuel

Love Mike, but he looks like he’s wearing his big brother’s suit.

Had a reader tweet me today that the Jets should consider Mike Mayock as a potential GM candidate.

That isn’t a bad idea. But it seems like he loves what he’s doing right now. I consider him to be one of if not the best draft guys out there.

Vlad – get that he watches a lot of college and pro and knows football. Great. Make him your head scout or something. GM?? what experience does he have in the front office?

Hall of Fame comment coming from Vlad, Lions fan and longtime Matt Millen supporter.

I laughed out loud.

What’s the big deal? People misspeak all the time. I remember one time when I was in a hotel room with a tranny hooker. I meant to request Dana’s keratin treatment, but said I wanted the David Carradine treatment instead. I’m just glad the nosy old couple next door in #342 were attentive enought to call 9-1-1 when I started gurgling.

He wouldn’t be interested in being a scout or something. So it would have to be a giant leap of faith by the Jets. Honestly, the Jets just need to clean house and start over. This is the Jets man. I don’t see them taking that kind of chance. They gotta hire an experienced GM and make some tough decisions. Did you by chance catch PTI today? There was a topic about how Jets fans really got at Jets players leaving the field at half last Thursday. It made me sick how Wilbon responded. Jet fans have every right to do that. They’ve been screwed over big time on all fronts. A person like Wilbon hasn’t paid a dime to get into games for years.

Mayock would shit his pants. If he wanted to work for an NFL team he could have stayed on the scouting fields and continued to work within the industry. He is paid to sit there and second guess people with little repurcussions. No way would he leave his job. Destroys his entire professional image.

I was about to bring that up as a caveat. Beware of Millen! Mayock strikes me as much more competent.

Tom Heckert would be a stronger candidate for the Jets but would want to gut the team and they are disillusioned to pretending they can be more than a wild card contender.

Jesus Christ Brees….. Stupid fucking Saints.

Juan Samuel led the league in triples and strikeouts one year. 4 straight years of NL lead in K’s too. Must of been too much of Tim Ryan’s special hair product weighing him down.

Agreed that he is the top draft guy in the media. I think he is HORRIBLE as a commentator because of his corpse-like personality. Would be better as a studio analyst breaking down game tape, or something of that ilk.

I don’t see how he’s better than Kiper.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:21 PM
I haven’t done an analytic study, but he seems to be the most accurate. I will cede that Kiper is better as an on air personality because of his penchant for explanation.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:29 PM
IMO he’s just the insecure little brother nipping at Kiper’s feet all the time. And Kiper to me, can give you a good bio on a UFAs and guys not even drafted. I dont get that from Mayock. Admittedly, a lot of their stuff gets put behind the ESPN paywall so I don’t see all his work.

I think Todd Charske is back. In the tattoo/QB post.

Jets/Cardinals tickets available for $20 each for Sundays game. Still not going to go. A my wife pointed out, I can mope and be miserable at home when the Cardinals lose for the same price without the drive, parking fee, and $8 a beer.
/Jets are going to spank the Cards.

Has a complete failure of a movie ever had a bigger line stick in the ether like this from A View from the Top?

Now that’s funny. Wayne Fontes Safari should go be a writer for Conan or something. I picked Conan because he needs better comedy writers these days.
