NFL Big Brother Power Rankings, Week 13: 49ers Are 1st, Followed by the Patriots and Texans
The San Francisco 49ers are at the top of my rankings again, while the Patriots continue to rise with the beat downs they are delivering. New England will have an opportunity to go against the two teams next to them in the rankings, at home, after playing the Dolphins this week. Houston, Atlanta, and Baltimore continue to win. They continue to win close, often against teams ranked well below them in these rankings, which is why they don’t rise. If you want rankings that mirror team records, go to ESPN.com (at least they have the 5-6 Saints above the 6-5 Vikings, showing they are not slaves to win totals).
As for our Big Brother eliminations, Detroit and Dallas both went down in flames on Thanksgiving Day, bringing our Rankings to sixteen teams remaining. We will eliminate four more teams, two this week, and two next, and then see how you, the voters, did on correctly eliminating the right teams as we plow toward the playoffs.
- San Francisco 49ers (8-2-1)
- New England Patriots (8-3)
- Houston Texans (10-1)
- Denver Broncos (8-3)
- New York Giants (7-4)
- Atlanta Falcons (10-1)
- Green Bay Packers (7-4)
- Chicago Bears (8-3)
- Baltimore Ravens (9-2)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-5)
- Seattle Seahawks (6-5)
- Cincinnati Bengals (6-5)
- Washington Redskins (5-6)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5)
- Indianapolis Colts (7-4)
- Minnesota Vikings (6-5)
Eliminated: Dallas (5-6), New Orleans (5-6), Detroit (4-7), Carolina (3-8), St. Louis (4-6-1), Miami (5-6), NY Jets (4-7), San Diego (4-7), Arizona (4-7), Buffalo (4-7), Cleveland (3-8), Philadelphia (3-8), Tennessee (4-7), Jacksonville (2-9), Oakland (3-8), Kansas City (1-10)
As for the nominations this week, I think the Colts are near the bottom of the remaining teams, but are squarely in wildcard position. This week’s nominees are the only remaining 5-6 team needing to survive against the division rival Giants, and the 6-5 teams.
Who Should Be Evicted After Week 12? (Pick Two)
- Minnesota Vikings (6-5) (62%, 319 Votes)
- Washington Redskins (5-6) (34%, 176 Votes)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5) (25%, 127 Votes)
- Seattle Seahawks (6-5) (18%, 94 Votes)
- Cincinnati Bengals (6-5) (12%, 60 Votes)
Total Voters: 511

this isn’t looking good for my Vikings, but it’s been a
goodbetter than expected ride.November 28th, 2012 at 12:59 PM
there are the top 9, none of which are standouts, then everyone else.
good year for parity in the NFL; not so much for attendence, again.
November 28th, 2012 at 12:59 PM
I can hear Breesus furiously typing his complaint about nobody talking about the Falcons right now.
November 28th, 2012 at 12:59 PM
It’s probably going to be Minnesota, but it should be noted that Washington (and the rest of the NFC East) isn’t all that good.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:00 PM
Can’t imagine the Steelers not going out. But hey the ghost of Troy Polamalu coming back will save the season!
November 28th, 2012 at 1:01 PM
this isn’t looking good for my Vikings
i’m sure it looks like a warm meal compared to the razorbacks season.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:01 PM
Every Vikings fan on this site knew we’d be voting them off this week.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:04 PM
Voted for Vikings. Ponder is fruad. Yep, fruad, not fraud.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:05 PM
Can I vote for Pitt twice?
November 28th, 2012 at 1:06 PM
And blaming ESPN…and advocating for equal coverage for all teams in all sports.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:06 PM
Bengals schedule isn’t too bad, until we play Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Hopefully Ben isn’t 100% and Flacco is for those games.

I love the ESPN Playoff Machine, I can spend hours flipping games back and forth. I just did one where the Dolphins, Jets and Pats finish 9-7, all make the playoffs with Dolphins winning tie break for division hosting New England. The crazy thing is the only upsets needed are Dolphins beating New England twice, and Jets beating anyone, but they are playing 5 lousy teams to end year. Also if you consider Houston beating New England an upset. The NFL is crazy with possibilities in December

I’ve marked my calendar.

He beat Matt Stafford twice.

I voted for Minnesota and Washington by the way. I still want to see what happens with Big Ben before making a choice between Cinci and Pitt for the other AFC wildcard spot.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:29 PM
Bye, Vikings
November 28th, 2012 at 1:31 PM
I couldn’t help but check out the Kiper/McShay thing on ESPN about the 2013 NFL Draft. Holy shit what a weak class. KC is getting the shaft bigtime, and I hope they talk themselves into Jarvis Jones. He’ll look great alongside Dontari Poe, Tyson Jackson, Ryan Sims, Glenn Dorsey…
November 28th, 2012 at 1:33 PM
Jarvis Jones? I only understand Polynesian
November 28th, 2012 at 1:35 PM
With the 1st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Chefs take…Landry Jones!
November 28th, 2012 at 1:37 PM
Some Guy on NFL Network’s draft coverage just said Matt Barkley had the benefit of having a “former NFL head coach” tutoring him. Bwahahaha!
November 28th, 2012 at 1:39 PM
I think the Chefs would take the chef reality show winner
November 28th, 2012 at 1:41 PM
Gp are you gonna show shatner around denver when he moves there?
November 28th, 2012 at 1:42 PM
Seriously, 2013 is going to be the worst QB class since 2007 when JaMarcus was first overall. This guy just said Barkley’s NFL comparison was Chad Pennington, and Geno Smith’s is Jason Campbell. Jesus Christ…
November 28th, 2012 at 1:44 PM
Colts were skull-fucked by the Jets. Should still be on the chopping block.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:44 PM
fuck you cincy.
/voted for cincy
November 28th, 2012 at 1:45 PM
Isn’t this changing the rules? I thought the point is to eliminate the worst teams by vote and see how that ends up doing for playoffs… not see who is in the playoff lead and eliminate around it.
November 28th, 2012 at 1:52 PM
Happily, Roast, although I think he’ll probably be able to navigate it pretty well, pretty quickly. It’s not exactly a huge city (assuming you’re actually in the City).
November 28th, 2012 at 1:54 PM
Barkley’s NFL comparison was Chad Pennington
Oddly enough, Chad Pennington might be better than any QB that has ever come from USC
November 28th, 2012 at 1:57 PM
He’s no Rodney Peete.
November 28th, 2012 at 2:00 PM
So in the playoffs, where Houston would almost certainly be playing at home, you’re taking New England over the Texans. What about that one loss to Green Bay has you concerned so much with Houston?
November 28th, 2012 at 2:01 PM
how is it that USC has a bunch of underwhelming QB’s but stanford’s gotten john elway, jim plunkett and andrew luck…three freak athletes with rocket arms? strange…that’s all.
November 28th, 2012 at 2:02 PM
Gary Kubiak.
November 28th, 2012 at 2:03 PM
Well, Barkley might have a really strong arm but Lane Kiffin doesn’t want to find out.
November 28th, 2012 at 2:05 PM
Lisk, that caption, it’s one of your best.

How do the Steelers not have 100% of the vote? I feel like I don’t know any of you.
November 28th, 2012 at 2:09 PM
What about that one loss to Green Bay has you concerned so much with Houston?
the texans barely beat the bears, then needed ot at home to win a shoootout vs. jax. they’re good but they’re not above being a dog at home to the pats
November 28th, 2012 at 2:16 PM
I can see the Pats jumping out to an early lead and throwing the whole Texans M.O. out of kilter. I actually agree with whatsisname the ex-lineman guy, who suggested that Houston’s style might actually do better on the road in the elements.
November 28th, 2012 at 3:12 PM

Can you elaborate? I haven’t heard this theory.
November 28th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
they’re fairly pure zone blocking like denver was under shanny…on a sloppy field, the RB has the advantage because he knows where he’s gonna cut while the defense has to react without their feet being solidly under them.
