The SEC’s obsession with bashing aTm strikes again. It is a sleeping giant, but they haven’t had a legitimate coach in years.

it’s not an SEC thing, at least from me, it’s an Arkansas thing. not having a legit coach in years tells me a little something about the football program in itself. aTm is in the middle of the biggest football recruiting area in the nation and they’ve been to the same amount of BCS games (1) as Arkansas, and that was almost 15 years ago.

whether or not they are a sleeping giant remains to be seen, but lets not sit here and act like they have any more of a legit history than Arkansas.

The Ark folks are geniuses – “Let’s call Les and get him a raise so LSU has less money to pay their players.”

and Arkansas puts lineman in the NFL all the fucking time. they’ve had 4 drafted in the past 5 years.

Can’t tell if that’s sarcasm. Uconn has had 3 drafted in the last 5 years. Hardly a compelling argument.

Like I said above, Arkansas never went after Miles. and while Arkansas may not be on the level of OU, Texas or LSU (get the fuck out of here with aTm), liek Spencer said, Texas alone puts out over 500 D1 football players a year, it’s not like it’s slim pickings.

Have to build a team around skill positions because they can’t dominate along the lines. Tough to recruit in LA, Oklahoma, and Texas against UT, OU, LSU, A&M, which are all superior programs.

This is partly why I could see Miles leaving – A lot of LSU fans can’t stand him. He’ll never be fully appreciated there, Arky would build statues to him if he went 87-20 there with a national title. No matter what he does a certain segment of the fanbase will compare him unfavorably with Saban and will never forgive the Ole Miss clock disaster or the 1/9 disaster.

But he’s staying so we’re all stuck with him.

agreed they’re all superior programs, but they’ve also been that way for awhile. how many 4 and 5 stars can you have on your roster before running out of roster spots? texas has more than enough talent to support ark and they’re def more attractive than places like miss state, ole piss and they do have resources to pay coaches…

i think the problem’s less talent than it is finding the coach who can handle that cult fanbase.
