Jason Babin was claimed off waivers by the team sitting in the 2nd position on the waiver priority, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes, the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have used six of their last thirteen picks in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft on defensive linemen, have just claimed a player that will cost them 1.6 million for five games. They are 2-9.

There are teams where this move would have made sense. Then there are the Jaguars. I applaud playing to win on the field, but this seems like a waste of resources for a team that is not in win now mode.

We won’t know who else had interest. All we know is that the 1-10 Chiefs — who play a 3-4 and would have been a schematic mismatch — passed.
