Hope Solo on Marriage to Jerramy Stevens: ‘I’m happily married,’ Says He Didn’t Assault Her

Hope Solo married former NFL thug Jerramy Stevens earlier this month in perhaps the most bizarre sports story of the year.

To recap: Late one Monday night, we posted they were dating; the next day Stevens was in court of allegedly assaulting Solo (they got in a fight over where they would live); the following day, they got married. Solo had been dating Stevens two months, but has known him since the two attended the University of Washington (where he was accused of raping another student).

The media finally caught up with Solo in Oregon Tuesday night, where she spoke for the first time about her wedding to Stevens:

“I’m happy. I’m happily married. I would never stand for domestic violence. I’ve never been hit in my life. It’s unfortunate, but that’s what the media can do.
“I’m happy in my life. I know the people closest to me are the only ones who really know what happened. The facts are out there if people really want to find them out — they can go and find them out in the police report. But I would never stand for domestic violence. I won’t read any of the negative things about me or my husband. Like I said, we’re happy, and ultimately that’s all that really matters.”

Solo also said Stevens didn’t assault her. [ESPN]
