Byron Scott: “Andy Varejao Was Fantastic. Everybody Else Sucked Tonight.” [Video]
This has been the story of the Cavaliers season. Everyone’s favorite Uncle, Kyrie Irving, went down with a broken finger a little over a week ago. Even with the star point guard, the Cavs were 2-7. After last night’s loss to Phoenix, they’re 3-12 for the season and in last place in the Central. Throughout all this, Anderson Varejao has been spectacular, averaging career-highs of 14.5 points, 1.5 steals, 3.2 assists and an absurd 14.9 rebounds a game (tops in the NBA). To say Varejao has been great and the rest of the team has sucked would be to speak the truth. In a rare moment of coaching candor, Byron Scott spoke the truth.

Seemed pretty premeditated, to me. He’s obviously trying to send a message, but I’m not sure that’s the right way to do it.

Whatever, everyone knows the “OKC Model” means you have to suck for at least 3 years in a row. The reason Cleveland could never build anything around LeBron is that he lifted them to the back of the lottery so quickly.

Was going to attend the Cavs game last night but went out to dinner with a friend I hadn’t seen a while. Dude crushed a 23 oz porterhouse and all the sides like it was a Whopper Jr. I’m still amazed.

Also can we officially refer to Kyrie Irving as “injury-prone”?

I guess winning 60+ games 2 years in a row, including 66 still sucks.
/Yea, yea, I know the response
These both seem like plain bad luck. Neither injury is degenerative. Of course, this is 3 years of bad luck in a row.
