Ballin: Kobe Scores 40 of 77, Lakers Miss 20 Free Throws, Lose to Pacers
LA Lakers 77, Indiana 79: Great job by George Hill attacking the basket on the game-winner; poor job by Pau Gasol stopping penetration. But the real story was that Kobe dropped 40 and the rest of the Lakers were abominable. Non-Kobe shooting: 12-of-48 (25 percent). Non-Kobe free throw shooting: 12-of-30. Non-Kobe 3-point shooting: 1-for-17. Get healthy, quick, Steve Nash!
Philadelphia 100, Dallas 98: The lottery-bound Mavericks fell to 7-8 when Jae Crowder missed a three at the horn. Jrue Holiday, 3rd in assists and 1st in turnovers, scored 18 points. Evan Turner would like people to “stay off his back,” which might mean the fans and his coach.
Minnesota 97, Sacramento 89: Welcome back, Kevin Love! In his 4th game back from a push up-related hand injury, Love had his best game of the year: 23 points, 24 rebounds.
Houston 117, Toronto 101: That’s three in a row for the Rockets, and wait until they Carlos Delfino back! Jeremy Lin: 16 points, 10 assists; James Harden 24 points, 12 assists. And Omer Asik, who everyone (me included) thought the Rockets overpaid for last summer, had 13 points and 18 rebounds, and is averaging 10.4 and 12.4 respectively this season. The 3-12 Raptors are putrid, but rookie Terrence Ross had the best game of his young career: 19 points, including four powerful dunks. Here’s his entire night:

So whats the story with the holdout kid over there in Houston?

Nash and Dwight look like Gary Payton and Karl Malone part II right now.

I’m tired of the Royce White story. I deal with anxiety issues. I don’t demand my employer and other people accommodate my every need due to my mental health. He needs to take responsibility and stop blaming the Rockets.

I hope he getting the proper help and treatment but he needs to take responsibility and not put the entire onus on his employer

No words about Kobe getting the double-double with 40 points and 10 turnovers? Solid work there.
If the Laker starters are going to look old this early, they are in serious trouble. Because that bench? Woof.

fuckers ruined my gambling night. had hoosiers big and lakers the same amount, so only lost vig, but still

why bring facts into it? Let’s not crush the bold proclamations of the ESPN pundits. I don’t think anyone really looked at the roster when making preseason predictions

His Twitter feed is an amazing live-look-in of a personal meltdown.

Oh man, Lin had a good game. Darrel’s gonna be pissed!
The Lakers – what a mess

Zach Lowe certainly didn’t…called it him the best under-the-radar signing of the offseason.

Off of a missed FT…it almost worked too.
Vince Carter took over late to get them back in it (it was about a 2 minute burst, but still had to be seen to be believed).

heh.. a 1 out of 14 game success ratio won’t get me close to pissed.

Terrence Ross almost jumped from the free throw line on that last one. Nice.

Except those that understand either A.) defense (especially PnR) or B.) advanced analytics

The Rockets defense is pedestrian and the “advanced analytics” I see says he is shooting 44% from the field as a 7 footer. I still say the overpaid. Good rebounding numbers, but they could have gotten a rebounder for less.
