Jason Babin has started games in seven separate seasons (’04, ’05, ’06, ’08, ’10, ’11, ’12). In those seasons, his teams are a combined 34-73 and boast a combined point differential of negative-479. I’m not arguing for causation here, obviously, but I think it’s worth pointing out that teams that have been forced to (or chosen to) start Babin during his career have typically not performed well on the field.

Of teams he’s played for, only the 2007 Seahawks finished above .500–and Babin appeared in only two games that season, starting neither and recording zero sacks. The Seahawks thought so highly of his contributions to that team that they traded him to Kansas City one week into the 2008 season. The Chiefs promptly went 2-14.
