this is a dumb thing to say. Ed James was not a diminishing return over Faulk, not for that team. And, he was on a HOF track, blowing the league up.
And, he had 1800 yard from scrimmage in his very last year there, before they just couldn’t pay him.

that was the week after they completely shredded Denver in the Wild Card game…didn’t punt in that game either. I think that was the game where Harrison dove for a catch, then got up and ran untouched for a TD despite being surrounded by four Broncos defenders

for some reason, i remember exactly where i was and what i was doing while watching that. peyton was that good that day…absolutely flawless, even if the chef’s D was HORRIBLE during vermeil’s time there.

sucks we never got to see peyton/marshall faulk more tho.

I like the diminishing returns at RB the Colts have had since they traded Faulk: first round picks on Edge (a beast until he blew out his knee), Addai (who was okay, but a big part of that SB win), and then Brown (kind of shitty).

Ill never forget Marshall Faulk pretty much being used as a decoy in the Super Bowl by that fuckhead Martz.

Martz would go entire stretches at a time where he either forgot Faulk was on the team or he tried to prove that he didn’t need Faulk all that much (or a combo of both). I think Andy Reid learned how to incorporate McCoy in his offense from closely watching those Martz Rams teams; I still remember the double-OT playoff again against Carolina where the Rams made their comeback after giving the ball to Faulk on almost every play.

Not completely. He’s got serious talent but the Pats system definitely helps too. Put Tim Tebow in that position and he might do just as well.

peyton id feel more comfortable with peyton behind center since he gets rid of the ball so quickly, his OL doesn’t have the time to get exposed.

This is yuuuuuge, because it allows a GM to build essentially a run-blocking o-line. The first two years of his career, Edge James had like 3200+ yards on about a bazillion carries.

the dif b/w what brady’s OL has been like to what peyton’s worked with is fairly enormous. tarik glenn mightve been the only truly exceptional OLmen peyton played with before ryan clady this year (seems like millenia ago jeff saturday made that block on vince wilfork).

There’s a big dropoff after Harrison and Wayne (Jerome Pathon? Austin Collie?). But Brady’s still had way less talent at WR (Moss for 2 years, Welker… Deion Branch? Troy Brown?)

Brady seems to make recievers better than they are. They leave NE and become nobodies, or they are nobodies and come to NE and become real good.

over the course of their careers, Manning has played with better skill position players and Brady has played behind better offensive lines.

Just working with those midget ex-gators puts him over the top.
