Down Go Kansas State and Oregon, Notre Dame and Alabama Move to No. 1 and No. 2
Baylor beat down Kansas State 52-24. Stanford upset Oregon 17-14 in overtime. The relevant Notre Dame Fighting Irish will move to No. 1 in the country. Alabama is back in the national title game if it wins out. Stunning. Could not have worked out better for those organizing the event.
The interesting question now becomes what happens if Notre Dame loses next week. The next five teams in the BCS Standings are all SEC teams. Could Florida vs. Florida State be a BCS Title elimination game? Maybe Oregon gets back in if UCLA can beat Stanford next week and get them into the title game? Could an undefeated Ohio State force a split national title?

How does Florida State jump all those SEC teams even with a win over Florida? They’ll probably still be behind Oregon and possibly KSU as well.
Crazy…Bama could lose to Georgia, Georgia could lose to GaTech, Florida could use to FSU, ND could lose to USC, Oregon and K-State could lose again. LSU vs. A&M for the national title.
November 17th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
Bama will get to #2 but shouldnt. More respect for oregon losing to a ranked team than Bama beating up on western carolina. A joke. Would be hilarious if either auburn or UGA beat bama
November 17th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
Fun but weak. Nobody likes any scenarios. Too bad osu’s ineligible
November 17th, 2012 at 11:58 PM
vajayjay, your scenario would require every team you mentioned to be “upset” in the next two weeks. sounds great and crazy, but somewhat unlikely. you should have also thrown in Auburn upsetting Alabama.
i just shudder at the more likely thought of ND losing to USC next week, Alabama beating Georgia, and Florida losing to FSU. That means Alabama at LSU again. Noooooooooooooooo………..
/no way ND loses to USC, right?
November 17th, 2012 at 11:58 PM
Lsu played south carolina, florida, and texas a&m. Bama didnt even play the top three teams in thr SEC east (UGA, UF, SCAR), barely beat LSU and got handled by Texas A&m. Theyll get voted based on reputation more than anything
November 18th, 2012 at 12:00 AM
Thanks for lache, Oregon!
November 18th, 2012 at 12:00 AM
Two SEC teams will not get to the title game. Why are you guys just throwing Oregon out? LSU belongs nowhere near the title game. If oregon beats the beavers and UCLA, theyll still get in..especially if notre dame loses. ND has to beat USC otherwise theyll get left out as a one loss team
November 18th, 2012 at 12:00 AM
It’s very possible. But not if Barkley doesn’t play.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:01 AM
AP – I wont defend Bama’s schedule (they’re 1-1 vs. ranked SEC teams), but Oregon has beaten exactly NOBODY this year.
This year sucks, it’s another 2007. Somebody will win but only b/c they have to give out a trophy every year.
Also no way OSU gets a split. Nobody outside B10 country has been paying attention to them all year. Their conference is crap and they wont play in a bowl. It’s OK this year has shown they should go unbeaten in the B10 for the next 5 years before Urb’s eventual meltdown.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:02 AM
AP – Oregon may not get UCLA, if Stanford wins next week they’re in the Pac title game.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:04 AM
All that matters…syracuse and rutgers are 2-0 vs the SEC this year! Ok ok..it was over Mizzou and Arkansas but still….Big East > SEC!!!!!!
November 18th, 2012 at 12:04 AM
Oh well, yes. But hey, Bama didnt play in the SEC title game last year but still got in the BCS title game
November 18th, 2012 at 12:06 AM
The sad thing is that the SEC is very overrated this year. Yet at least one team will get into the NC.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:06 AM
Bama could lose to 3-9 Auburn next week and still weasel their way into the BCS title game, it’s Bama.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:09 AM
I think Florida is the team that has the biggest complaint if they can get by FSU. They have a much better resume than Bama. But they’re painful to watch and lose in the “style points” department.
If Florida played ND we might have a championship game where NEITHER team crossed midfield.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:12 AM
I called Stanford beating Oregon. Just saying. /humblebrag
November 18th, 2012 at 12:14 AM
Espn’s brad edwards predicts it to be ND, BAma, UGA, Florida, Oregon. UGA in top 5 is a joke. Sorry, but if you get demolished by South carolina, you shouldnt be up there. UF is hurt by looking terrible against UGA and barely beating Louisiana-Lafayette
November 18th, 2012 at 12:15 AM
I love how cocky ND fans are puffing out their chest n twitter claiming a statement game against Wake Forest…oh yes, statement against a team who gave up 80 points the last 2 games…..weeeeeee
November 18th, 2012 at 12:16 AM
The sec is just piss this year.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:20 AM
Incorrect vajayjay redick. UCLA clinched the Pac-12 southern title and is in after beating USC. Win or lose against Stanford, they are still playing for the conference title.
/Now you know.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:22 AM
Actually I meant OREGON will not be in the PAC title game unless Stanford loses to UCLA next week.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:27 AM
Let’s hope they do. Go Bruins!
November 18th, 2012 at 12:27 AM
All SEC title game!!!
November 18th, 2012 at 12:28 AM
Stanford could play UCLA in back to back weeks if they win the first.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:29 AM
AP, why are you so angry? Why don’t you do us all a favor and slit your wrists, bitch.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:31 AM
As long as Notre Dame loses sometime Im happy. The SEC hate is funny though.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:32 AM
Im angry? Interesting. Im quite at peace. I was just bringing facts to the situation. I must have offended the sensibilities of someone who cares way too much about a game
November 18th, 2012 at 12:32 AM
The SEC avoids this by playing 1-AA schools the last 2 weeks of the season.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:33 AM
Btw if you think WF is a bad team, Baylor’s wins coming into their boatracing of KSU – SMU, Sam Houston, La-Monroe, Kansas. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:34 AM
Maybe we beat them twice. Or not. Franklin was a beast today against SC. Run it again next week.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:37 AM
Barkley still a top 10 pick?
November 18th, 2012 at 12:37 AM
Bahahahahaahahahaha…………your originality is quite commendable.
/that guy said something mean, so I’m I gonna turn it back on him because I’m super clever and he’s so beneath me.
//chill out, I don’t really want you to slit your wrist. I hope you have a lovely thanksgiving.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:38 AM
No chance unless some team is desperate.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:43 AM
KC or Jacksonville. They have to let go of Cassel and Gabbert. No?
November 18th, 2012 at 12:46 AM
Is Gabbert considered done already? I knew Cassell was but I thought Gabbert was looking ok.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:47 AM
Remember when Barkley and Landry Jones were both future NFL stars? Those were good times.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:47 AM
Gabbert is a tire fire. Barkley will still go top 10. Lots of teams desperate for a QB.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:51 AM
Barkley seems like Sanchez with more experience
November 18th, 2012 at 12:53 AM
Too early to say who will be and won’t be in the BCS Title Game. Too many variables left in but for one team. Right now, Notre Dame is in the driver’s seat. Beat an SC team that just lost today (and may be lacking Matt Barkley) and they’re in.
Everyone else? Needs to win out and/or hope other teams do them a solid. If all stays equal, it’s Bama facing the Domers — and I’d be very afraid of that game being even a bigger blowout than Bama v LSU was.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:54 AM
USC QB’s have not lived up to their hype. Palmer, Leinart, Sanchez. Now Barkley.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:54 AM
If this all leads to Bama killing ND in the title game, let it be!!!
November 18th, 2012 at 12:55 AM
Carson Palmer should not be lumped with Sanchez and Leinart. He was a pro bowl Qb until that infamous playoff hit.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:56 AM
That should be a good one if USC plays.
November 18th, 2012 at 12:59 AM
As much as i’d love to make a “South Bend-over” joke should ND play Bama in the title game, what has anybody seen from Bama the last couple weeks to make them think they’d kill ND?
November 18th, 2012 at 1:01 AM
Nick Saban. Give him a month to prepare and I love Bamas chances.
November 18th, 2012 at 1:05 AM
True. He’s been serviceable for Oakland. I can’t wait to see what the rankings will be. ND – 1, Bama – 2? Oregon lost to a very good Stanford team though.
November 18th, 2012 at 1:13 AM
Stanford got fucked in OT against ND too.
November 18th, 2012 at 1:24 AM
lol at all of this. Go Irish.
/high fives Jersey
November 18th, 2012 at 1:36 AM
Bama gonna blow Notre Dame outta the water. Irish lucky to get a FG.
November 18th, 2012 at 8:29 AM
LMAO @ clowns saying SEC is down.
November 18th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Pac 12 has to be thrilled. Stanford and Oregon both win next weekend and the conference is pretty much a lock for two teams in BC$ games.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Trying to figure out any possible way in which this could be complimentary. I got nothin.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
How has this year shown that OSU is so much better than the rest of the B1G? Was it the thrilling win against MSU? Or was it the OT wins against Wisconsin and Purdue? Purdue!!! OSU will be very good under Urban, but you might want to rethink the rest of your statement.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
The narrative writes itself at this point. For ND and ‘Bama, just maintain. It will be the game of the century, at least for this year.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
glad to see no money and new money go down. if only the irish had another famine…
November 18th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
I’ll say it again …. QB play in the SEC is pretty awful and bama’s success has been helped by that.
Bama struggles against good QBs but they’ve only faced a couple in the last few years (Newton, Manziel – Colt McCoy was hurt early). So if they make it to the Nat Champ game, their chances are good b/c they won’t have to face a good QB.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Stafford, Mallett, Tebow, Cousins, Denard, blah blah blah. So Jefferson and Garcia were ‘good’ qbs simply because they beat Bama, and the list I dropped are all ‘bad’ qbs because they lost? Good one.
November 18th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
the sec is not down, THE BIG TEN IS
November 18th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
OSU still has the most talent in the conference. And the best coaching with the except of Zone Fickell. That same Purdue team that nearly beat ND? Winning in Camp Randall is tough. Their defense played great and I still don’t know what the hell was up with OSU’s offensive game plan. OSU also beat down the two other best teams in the conference. Nebraska and PSU.
November 18th, 2012 at 10:37 AM
They have the most talent right now. But going forward? That won’t be so much the case. They will be one of the two most talented teams.
So OSU has the best coaching, except for that one half of their team?
November 18th, 2012 at 10:46 AM
What a complete cluster f it will be if ND loses to SC and Stanford wins. IMO the title game will be the Florida/FSU winner vs the SEC title game winner. Remember when everyone was outraged over a undefeated ND team being left out?
/always plays itself out
//except 2004
