Yes, Charlie, that’s exactly why KU students are not going to the game between your 1-9 team and 5-5 Iowa State.

There was a rumor earlier this week that June called a recruit in San Antonio and told him to start looking around as June wasn’t going to stick around beyond this year. The first response on message boards: “Wait, June talked to a recruit?”

We’re ready for someone younger, with energy. June’s low-key charm is wearing thin around here.

Gotta start recruiting early. SMU is going to be back with a bunch of private school players. Gotta tap into the inner city.

Awesome deal for the kid… one red shirt year + one medical redshirt year + 4 scholarship years = one sweet deal for making a tackle or two on special teams.

No. But, they aren’t that expensive. Back in the mid-90s when I was in school, I paid $85 for all the football and basketball games and the Kansas Relays. I’m not sure what it is now, but it can’t be much.

Plus, all the students buy the deal for the basketball tickets. There will be a ton of students that have football tickets and will just give them away.

Hitting the ceiling at 6-8 wins a year will do that after awhile.

Funny, my kid is 12 and I’ve never taken him to a football game.

I’ll never forget, once when I was about 11-12…

Phone rings (land-line, btw).
Dad picks up.
“You’re asking me to donate money for kids to go to a circus?”
“Are my kids invited?”
“Because they’ve never been to the circus.”
“Because I can’t afford it.”
“So can my kids get on your list?”

Wow.

They were more than that when I was at Auburn and that was a few years ago.

And I’ve heard now they have a lottery and if you win, you get the pleasure of purchasing tickets for half of the home games and at a pretty steep price.

Students at my alma mater pay general student fees up front, but they can go to any athletic event they want without getting a ticket. They just have to have their student ID card.

And yet our attendance still blows.
