This is a fascinating “What if.” Would the Packers had matched up better against the Falcons? (Vikings were playing the 6 seed Cards no matter what the next round) A Vikings/Packers NFC Championship was in play….

I loved Jerry Rice growing up and one of the main reasons why I’m a Niner fan today. When his name pops up among, they all agree he is the greatest but they are always quick to point out his negatives.

1) The fumble by juggling the ball across the endzone (before instant replay) and going out in the back endzone. It should have been ruled a touchback

2) 2nd fumble against the Packers in the NFC Championship setting up The Catch #2 qith Terrel Owens on 4th Down.

3) The wide open dropped TD against the Giants in the old Giants Stadium turf. This opened the doors to the Niners were being spanked like 49-3.

He definitely got the benefit of a lot of “Jordan” calls.

You don’t see these guys focusing on reading defenses, knowing when it’s a zone and when it’s a man. That’s when you see all these big devastating hits, you’ve got guys running through zones when they are supposed to sit down, they’re thinking it’s man to man, and the quarterback has no choice but to get the ball out of his hand.

Eye-opening. And salt in the wound for any recently concussed receiver.
