College Basketball Final Four Predictions For 2012-2013 Go Here
We offered up our list of the 50 best players in college basketball in July, and before that, we posted our Top 25 for this season. Not much has changed since then. With the season underway today (and good games all weekend!), we’ll use this space to make our 2012-2013 season predictions:
Elite 8
Maryland, Butler, Missouri, Florida, Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, NC State.
Final 4
Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, NC State.
Champion
Louisville
All-American 1st team
F: Cody Zeller, Indiana
F: James Michael McAdoo, UNC
C: Gorgui Dieng, Louisville

All-American 2nd team:
F: Doug McDermott, Creighton
F: Le’Bryan Nash, Oklahoma State
C: Jeff Withey, Kansas
G: Isaiah Canaan, Murray State
G: Trey Burke, Michigan
* Note: This does not mean I hate the Big East. I love the Big East. It is my favorite conference. It just isn’t as strong as in previous years.
Jason Lisk’s picks
I’ll admit to not knowing anything at this point. I look forward to digging in to night with the first night of games and then catching the CBE Classic and other tournaments next week. It “feels” like this year is as wide open as any recently, subject of course, to how dominant the most recent group of Kentucky Wildcats are. They will be in the mix, but surely they can’t be as good as what Anthony Davis and company brought last year, right? (Please be right).

Georgetown, CSUN, George Mason, and I’ll go with Miami for my long shot

Since UConn got the shaft I am sticking in state and saying Central CT or Fairfield
November 9th, 2012 at 6:32 PM
Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State. Indiana wins it all.
November 9th, 2012 at 6:34 PM
Let’s go UConn.

No DeShaun Thomas? For shame.
I got OSU in the Final Four. Thad will find away to choke it away again. Or someone will have the worst game of their life in the championship game.

Final Four
OSU, Kentucky, Indiana, Louisville.
November 9th, 2012 at 6:47 PM
My real pick is Indiana, Louisville, Mich St, and Creighton. Indiana is champ.
November 9th, 2012 at 6:47 PM
C: Jeff Withey, Kansas McIntyre
C: Jeff Withey, Kansas Lisk
Withey got owned by two DII schools in the pre-season. For the early part of the season, he isn’t going to have anyone double-teaming someone with the skill of Robinson making life easy for him. It is going to take some time for all of KU’s young guys to get into Saint Self’s system.
And, Elijah Johnson is your All-American off this team.
I know I’m contractually obligated to hate all things Missouri, but Phil Pressey is a lot of fun to watch. He ought to tear up the SEC.
I was going to say Sparty is going to kill KU on Tuesday, but I’m, um, watching Sparty play now.

I know weird, right?
Would it be weird if you survived an abortion? Would it be weird if you shared a bed with a man who may or may not be your father?…. Would it be weird if you ate cat food to go to sleep? And you have such a fascination with cats that your glue cat hair to the back of your own neck?

If Indiana makes the Final 4, I’ll offer to write a guest post about how awesome Tom Crean is and how he is totally classy and not the worst.
Not Happening.

Indiana can go eat a back of dicks and the Zeller family can drive off a cliff. OSU will win the B1G. Allow me to introduce LaQuinton Ross bitches.

Michigan, Kentucky, Kansas, Cincinnati

I want my Memphis Tigers to do well, soooooo bad. But, if they come out with the same hully-gully style that Will Barton personified, I dunno.
I still have some heartburn about last season’s tourney loss to the St. Louis Billikens. When the going got tough, the Tigers seemed shaky last year. Hopefully, this year will be more rewarding.

Mitch McGary for PotY.

Picking the Final Four is a worthless endeavor. It is such a crapshoot because of Tourney play. The four best teams will be Indiana, Louisville, with some combination of Kentucky, OSU, Florida, Memphis, Duke, UNC, and Mizzou filling out the last two.
KU may end up pretty good by the end of the season, but it will take awhile for Saint Self to get that rotation down. I see eight or nine losses by Tourney time. Got a couple seniors and a lot of freshman. It’ll be interesting.
Not sold on NC State or Michigan. But, I haven’t seen them play. Good to have college hoops back. I love this time of the year. Hoops or Football on every night.

I was glad to see that both Lisk and J-Mac recognize Aaron Craft is a fantastic college player.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:04 PM
I was at the Michigan / IU game last season. At one point there were eight white guys on the court.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:05 PM
Gross. Didn’t like 3 of the Michigan white dudes graduate/transfer?
November 9th, 2012 at 7:08 PM

He is the classic annoying player. Annoying if he isn’t on your team. OSU has them a good one with him.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:09 PM
He gives a 100% all the time. Great defensively, makes play. And if he could develop a more consistent shot that would be splendid. OSU will miss Buford this year. It will be up to Ross and Lenzelle to pick up the slack. Need more efficient 3 pt shooting this year.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:09 PM
I’ll be honest, that makes two of us. If Hardaway starts shanking again, Michigan could be an 8 or 9 loss team.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:12 PM
B1G will be really tough this year. Even teams like OSU and Indiana may have 3 or 4 losses within conference. B1G = great basketball and terrible football.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:13 PM
Zack Novak and Stu Douglass are gone. Vogrich and Bartlestein are back.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:15 PM
Smotrycz transferred.
This is bullshit. Typical government….
November 9th, 2012 at 7:21 PM
You know what? Fuck Indiana.

I blame Gene Smith.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:46 PM
Michigan, UCLA, Louisville, Georgetown
Louisville wins it.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:47 PM
I’ll say kentucky repeats. Duke, Indiana, and Michigan St round out the final 4.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:48 PM
Actually, I think MSU makes it.
November 9th, 2012 at 7:50 PM
Don’t they have 1 or 2 players under NCAA investigation?
November 9th, 2012 at 7:50 PM
Actually, I think MSU makes it.
They’ve come back and made this competitive. Even an interesting game. Ugly. But, Basketball.
I think they’ll kill KU on Tuesday.

Is KU pretty bad this year? Because MSU is usually pretty bad early on. Hit their stride late in the season.
November 9th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas
Dick Vitale has to go see the doctor for an erection lasting longer than 4 hours.

Yep. Well, for KU. They’ll still be ranked all season. Before the 12 minute time out they were 1 for 9 on threes. Why are they shooting that many threes against midgets? They’ll get it together by March, but it is a very in-cohesive offense.

@whereswallace well this is awkward
November 9th, 2012 at 9:34 PM
Maryland looks like it is ill-prepared for the opener. How poor are the offensive sets? Len looks beastly, but they are barely running through him.
I had no clue UK was going to be this deep. Goodwin looks fantastic.

Jayce, getting swept up in the NCSU love. Thats cute. Can’t wait to see them flame out in the first weekend.
