Linda McMahon Spent $100 Million in 3 Years to Not Be Senator

From the mouth of the parody account for fictional character Will McAvoy … Yes, it’s true, Linda McMahon spent just shy of $100 million over the last three years in her bold bid to not become a Senator in Connecticut.

Linda, wife of sought-after Adonis, Vince McMahon, had previously spent a whopping $50 million in an attempt to fight the good fight for Connecticut’s constituents back in 2010. This year’s failed campaign amazingly featured more of the same, as she reportedly blew another $43 million of Mr. McMahon’s bottomless treasure chest.

Among the many who were appalled by the exorbitant spending was none other than Rowdy Roddy Piper. On Wednesday, Hot Rod took to Twitter to blast the apparent misuse of funds, citing medical coverage for wrestlers as well as some kind of retirement plan as perhaps a better use of Vinnie’s fortune.

The one positive to come from Linda’s soiled mission? The presence of Shane McMahon, who was last seen consoling Rory McIlroy after the affable Irishman blew the 2011 Masters. Before that, the grapefruits-equipped son was doing this:

Unrelated, but every single one of these previews made me laugh. Except the Simpsons one. That one just sort of creeped me out.

As for this, in the age when most candidates decline government funding for their campaigns, I don’t really get in a twist over some hatchet faced woman spending her money to try to become important somehow.

On a related note, Karl Rove’s superPAC spent $400 million for absolutely nothing. Sheldon Adelson spent eight figures on nine candidates, every single one of whom lost. Incredible.

He’s the anti Nate Silver. Adelson couldn’t pick a winner if Silver told him who was going to win. He just kept throwing good money after bad which is ironic when you think that’s how he made his money with gamblers doing the same.
