Given the Hope Scholarship, I’ve always thought uga should have a fantastic baseball team. I didn’t think those scholarships would count against the ncaa limit.

I thought originally that you just could give no more that some number of whole total scholarships per year, something like 8.

So, you could give 8 fulls or 16 halfs. And some of the new rules limited the total number that can have any percentage of a scholarship. This was a result of the “you’ve got too many on the hook that may not get anything” created by football.

So maybe what you know essentially enables the new limits.

I don’t know the exact number of scholarships per team, I think it is around 12, but no player can receive more than 80% of a scholarship (I think), which almost never happens, as it completely screws the rest of the team. I think D-1 baseball teams have 25-27 players on each team, so you can do the math and see that it is total bullshit.

Try doing it with stupider Big 10 rules on top of already stupid NCAA rules. Basically in the Big 10, a guy drafted out of high school or after his 3rd year still counts against the schollie limit and can’t be replaced.

Unfortunately, some of the rules changes trickled down to other sports that do scholarship splitting and other creative things. Baseball at some of the mid-range schools (SoCon for example) got hit.

NLI signings are now limited to 25 across the board in FBS.
