nice job in the comments last night, fellas. we’ll be spreading out the political posts today. pace yourselves.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:22 AM
well that was a fun night.
I’m looking forward to the gloating about how wrong nate silver was from the conservatives. but i won’t hold my breath.

November 7th, 2012 at 8:22 AM
The saddest part about today is that I won’t be able to bust out any of the one-liners I’ve been sitting on for the past several weeks, like “The model suggests there’s a 100% chance Nate Silver is a fraud!”
November 7th, 2012 at 8:22 AM
Harden wasn’t given an hour. He had months that he knew he wasn’t going to get a max contract. Shame on his agent for not being clear with him. Shame on Harden for not realizing the possibility of being traded.
Now, he gets to be The Man on a team that isn’t nearly as good. But, he is The Man. And he got an extra $6m too! That’s a 12% raise, btw. 12% isn’t enough to get me to move jobs within Columbus, let alone pick up and move to another city.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:23 AM
The discussion last night was fantastic, BTW. Civil, engaging, funny.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
I don’t mind saying I expected it to be much, much closer in the EC vote.
Florida, your election process is unacceptable. 2-to-4 hour waits in some areas? Unsat.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Nate Bronze would have been a decent one.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
I’m no Nate silver but I am 75% sure that he got more than an extra 6 million. I believe it was more like 26 million.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:25 AM

I couldn’t stand the coverage last night. Maybe I was bitter that Joe Walsh didn’t carry New York.

Paige Butcher
There’s a lot I like about that photo.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:27 AM
Good one.
It also would’ve been fun to start sentences out by saying, “I’m no Nate Silver, but…” and then state something that was blatantly obvious. I guess I could still do that.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:27 AM
Might as well enjoy it for four years. Because once Rubio gets on the 2016 ticket the minority margin evaporates. Florida, New Mexico, Colorado — they’re all gonna go GOP.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:28 AM
So Silver is going to get 50 of 50 right this time around. Some fraud eh.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:29 AM
I don’t get that. I think a lot of dumbass people didn’t bother to read the sample ballots before hand. That is what the hold up was. I had a line at 7AM and it took a total of about 40 minutes to wait and vote.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:30 AM

There’s a lot I like about that photo.
Without that information I would have thought is was another Blake Lively day.

Well, his Life’s Been Good (so far), but he lost a lot of votes In The City. Yadda yadda yadda, Rocky Mountain Way.

I don’t know, I’ve never seen a picture of him. To me a name like Nate Silver sounds made up.

Shouldn’t the real question be who is going to run for the democrats? Biden? No. Clinton? I thought she was done running for offices. Pelosi/Reid? Hahaha.

November 7th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
My quick thoughts:
Chitwood is a class act for showing up.
Great election night for gay people.
And yes, I’m happy that Nate Silver (and mathematics) was vindicated.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
One thing really stood out to me from exit poll aggregates: almost 2/3 of voters still blamed Bush for the economic problems. I fully agree with that stance yet the number surprised me. That man really did damage to the GOP. His turd legacy will leave a stench for decades.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
Florida yes. New Mexico, no. Colorado…quite possibly. CO has other non-Latino factors including a huge young professional population.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
He got 2 extra years from Houston. So, yes I supposed it can be looked at as $26m. He could also assume that he would still get paid in 4 years, barring injury.
I just don’t like the butt hurt comments about only having an hour. It was months in the process. Players can’t act like its personal when something happens to them, but play the business card when it comes to leaving on their own.
That was good business by Presti. He had to act quickly because if teams knew they were dealing him, the return would have been less.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
I’m no Nate Silver but…I do not think Rubio will get the nod. Maybe as VP. I’d have to say Christie is the favorite, should he choose to run.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Silver is no question a genius, but it’ll be extremely anti-climactic going forward if we know days in advance who is going to win. I miss the drama of uncertainty.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Cory Booker.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:34 AM
Rove looked worse than Franco Harris last night. Surprised he wasn’t sprinting toward the stage last night during Obama’s acceptance speech with his Ohio vote totals scrawled on the pack of a napkin.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:34 AM
I don’t know what Rubio’s prospects would be in 2016 in those states. I’m wondering how differently the various Hispanic voting blocks (Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, et al) would vote for him.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
Nate Silver says there is a 100% chance Craig James killed 5 hookers
November 7th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
Elizabeth Warren/Corey Booker v Rubio/Christie?
Nate Silver is going to have to get some of these wrong on purpose, remember that NFL Draft year were they scooped every single pick and there was no suspense?
Canada/Michigan even got their bridge, I’m hungover as hell but awake $300 richer into a world that likes weed, gay people and Obama more than outsourcing, bigotry and growing inequality.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
I’ve seen this where I vote in New Jersey as well.
People (especially older folks) who want to vote on resolutions and measures try to make sense of the legal jargon in the resolution while they are in the voting booth and it takes them awhile.
Volunteers actually started passing around sample ballots while I was in line to prevent that from happening. It was a good idea.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
I think Booker goes after Christie’s seat. Martin OMalley outta Maryland is going to run for president in 2016 if Mikulski doesn’t retire.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
I’m surprised the “blame Bush” strategy worked as well as it did. Obama has had four years, for crying out loud. I know people say things are turning around, but many areas of the country just aren’t feeling it.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:37 AM
I think Fox News should make a huge push for their viewers to lie to the pollsters. I agree. I miss the drama. I didn’t watch much of last night’s coverage as I “knew” it was virtually certain that Obama would win. (and I would collect my fat gambling winnings as a result)
November 7th, 2012 at 8:37 AM
I’ll be surprised if it’s not Chris Christie.

Anyone could come away with a “why should I bother to vote” attitude when you read any pre-election analysis. I don’t think that is necessarily germane to Nate Silver’s work.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
I had my TV on CBS coverage all evening. Their lack of social media references from irrelavent third parties was wonderful.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Agree – Chitwood was a little abrasive at first, but he’s okay by me (which is much more than I can say for others on his side of the fence).
November 7th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
I remember thinking at the time of the 2010 elections that there would be no way in hell Obama could be re-elected with unemployment at 8% levels. It’s really amazing that he pulled it off.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:40 AM
People still think this dead hooker was dropped on Obama’s desk by Bush, and they understand fixing a problem of this magnitude takes a lot of time. Republicans didn’t help themselves by actively obstructing a lot of Obama’s efforts, either. If the economy is still in bad shape four years from now then it’s on Obama. Right now, it’s still Bush’s turd.

November 7th, 2012 at 8:41 AM
I think this speaks as much about the disarray of the Republican party as it does Obama’s resilience. Obama was definitely vulnerable in this election (just as Bush was in 2004).
November 7th, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Oh, I know. Our ballot was ridiculous.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Christie has more to overcome now than he did a week ago because of the publicity photo tour with Obama. Right or wrong, Republicans are going to remember that. I know everyone will say he was acting in a spirit of cooperation, but that’s bogus. Christie went out of his way to rub elbows with the prez so the press could see.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
I’d give you 4 guesses for a party nomination for 2016 and I’ll take the field. I’d take that bet all day.

I am going to buy some scotch that tastes like a fucking forest and I am going to drink it very, very quickly. Cheers.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Agree with Dewar. Republican party is a hot mess.
They need a Nate Silver type to analyze the battleground states, and start from there. If Romney loses Florida, he’ll have gone 1-for-5 in battleground states.
Not even close.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
I know the lefties around here hate him, but I don’t think Ryan did anything to hurt his chances at being nominated in 2016 if he so chooses.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
The Spanish speaking vote is more nuanced than presented. Live in NY and call a Puerto Rican Mexican, and he’ll look at you cross eyed. Live in L.A. and call a Mexican, Puerto Rican and he’ll take it as an insult. Elian Gonzalez was a Cuban issue, not a Hispanic one. Saying that to say putting Rubio on the ticket doesn’t automatically guarantee anything.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
Jimmy –
I think it’s less what Obama has done or what he has promised to do in the next 4.
It was a lousy Republican candidate that really didn’t give the people any clue about what the country would look like in 2 years with him at the helm. He’s actually moderate (see his medical plan in MA, which looks similar to BO’s national plan) which could have been a solid platform. Yet, he adds a Tea Party-esque VP and allows the really loud, yet pretty small Far Right to have a huge voice in his campaign.
It was a confused game plan, to be honest. And, until the Republicans can settle on someone closer to the middle, who ignores the Right of Right folks, and can draw cash from other places than the Karl Rove-type PAC’s, then every election will be a struggle to win.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
Jay V showing up 30 seconds after the call, demanding scalps was a moment of humor last night.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
I think that incremental progress in the unemployment numbers helped a lot. A lot of people realize that Bush rang up the national credit card big time (Medicare Part D, the ’01 & ’03 tax cuts, huge expansion of federal gov’t, the two Wars), hence the propensity to blame Bush. There’s no way that Jeb Bush can run in 2016.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
Didn’t Silver still say there was a 25% chance Romney could win? Its not like I paid 1.99/min to get his guaranteed locks.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
If he takes FL, Obama will have won OH, VA, CO, NV, IA, NH and FL. What battleground did Romney win? Are we calling NC a battleground?
November 7th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
I can agree with this. The Republican party has become very extreme. Santorum, Perry, Bachman and the like. They need to regroup if they want to be relevant on the national level again.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
i tweeted about Christie in 2016 last night. got many responses immediately about how he was “dead to Republicans” and how he should run as a Democrat, all because of what happened last week with Obama in NJ. you know, after the storm.
obviously not a snapshot of the party, but i wonder if a lot of republicans feel that way. if that’s the case … GOP has problems.

I’ve never been much of a follower of the network news, but in the past year I’ve found CBS to be quite good. Part of it I think is their production, but they seem well balanced and serious in their journalism. Face the nation is always enjoyable sunday morning viewing for me
November 7th, 2012 at 8:45 AM

Republicans didn’t help themselves by actively obstructing a lot of Obama’s efforts, either. If the economy is still in bad shape four years from now then it’s on Obama. Right now, it’s still Bush’s turd.
A $1.5 trillion budget deficit is not Obamas turd?
November 7th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
This will probably sound really, well, girly, but Ryan just doesn’t have that charisma to be president.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
With all the literature that floats around in the weeks before an election, there are easy ways to be better prepared.
Hit it hard & fast, then get the heck out. Guess I gotta have a chat with my fellow seniors.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
He did this because half the state didn’t have power or was flooded. He was doing his job as the governor of the state of NJ. His willingness to appreciate the federal help will get him re-elected next year and he would probably get my vote if I’m still living in NJ at this time next year.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
IMO, Paul Ryan is the perfect guy for the GOP to nominate if they want to lose another presidential election.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Not to mention you will completely lose the black vote.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
In hindsight, Ryan seemed to disappear after his debate with Biden. I don’t think his name will have the unshakeable stench of “loser” by the time 2016 rolls around.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
I don’t know who Nate silver is, but based on some of the commenters here, I want to give him a hand job. Good god, get a grip.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
Just throwing this out there, your recent GOP presidents have come from TX (41, 43) and CA (Nixon, Reagan). Maybe it’d be a bit easier to find a guy who can hunting some big electoral college game than trying to much “appeal to this subset” mentality.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
It was $1.2 trillion in the last Bush fiscal year. A credit bubble popping and a global financial meltdown contributes to these things.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
I would absolutely vote for Christie as governor. President? Ehhhh, I dunno. He’s well suited to the role of New Jersey governor.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
Which pisses me the fuck off. Millions of people just got rocked by a major storm that area haven’t seen before. God I hate politics.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Reagan and Bush 43 had shitloads of charisma. This got them Pennsylvania Avenue. It’s politics not actual accomplishments. The best and brightest win only a fraction of the time.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
My hope for the Republican party is that they abandon the social issues as their primary focus (gay marriage, abortion, etc.) and get back to fiscal responsibility being their calling card. If they use their majority in the House and work with the Senate to come up with a solid budget with reasonable spending cuts and a tax plan that appeals to moderates, stability can be created and they can tout their leadership role in the next election and more of the middle (like myself) will find them more appealing. But if they continue to use the extreme moralistic social issues to divide the voters, I don’t see how things change for them.
/I’m not holding my breath
//they have to appeal to the extreme base in order to get through the primaries and then they are flip-floppers if they moderate in the general election
November 7th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Philly: I know a lot of businesses were holding out on spending/hiring until after the election. Now that its over, do we start seeing some thaw on those fronts? They can’t really wait four more years in the hopes a Republican gets in, right?
November 7th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Still blaming this on bush is going to continue to get nothing done. It’s unreal people still cling to that.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I think what Christie did last week was genius. Romney wasn’t winning regardless of what staunch Republicans thought was Christie undercutting him.
But, in 4 years, he has the attention of fence sitters as a guy who can work with both parties. He can mend his Republican fences as well, at least those that aren’t Right of Right and blame him for Obama winning again.
This is the kind of person that the Republicans need to have. It is PERCEIVED that he is willing to work with both sides. It doesn’t matter what he would REALLY do, but more about the perception of it to voters.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I doubt that the economy will still be a mess in four years, but if it is, he’s got a chance. I think he can “sell” the belt-tightening “fix the economy” thing better than any other Republican, but that’ll only work if times are tough.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
/team washington and colorado
November 7th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
The Republican party has issues to work on, to be sure, but I don’t think it would be wise to scrap it and start over. There are still 30 Republican governors and the House is Republican controlled. Our best candidates were on the bench for this election and will be ready for 2016. Personally, I hope we move more towards SOME of the policies of Ron Paul.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Blaming Bush wasn’t just good strategy, it was speaking to truth. Romney’s entire campaign was based on hoping people would forget history. Whether it was saying one thing about a subject, and taking a complete 180 in a debate a week later. Blaming Obama for a bad economy he didn’t create was nonsense. He didn’t create the mess, he is overseeing the recovery. Romney wanted history to begin the first day of Obama’s first term instead of the 8 years prior to that.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Obama clearly was vulnerable after 4 terrible years, 2 with full majority. Until we get more women and hispanic voters we’re screwed. Rubio is the guy but can he beat Hillary? I doubt it. Kudos to Obama for being able to win without running off any success and making the election about Romney being a rich white out of touch Bain capitalist.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
I think they wait until the fiscal cliff is resolved. If they get it resolved in a balanced way (tax increases and targeted spending cuts), then businesses will have the confidence to spend more and increase hiring.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
The GOP doesn’t have problems, American’s just can’t see the value in an extremely narrow minded rich white man with outdated fiscal policies as president anymore.
America has problems.

November 7th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Romney, in my opinion was never a good candidate. Forget the religion part of it. He never had a clear plan for the Country. If you can’t state what your platform is and stick with it. You shouldn’t be running.

November 7th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
This is going to be a shitstorm. Listened to RW radio this morning for 15 minutes. First thing I heard — this is not a mandate. Obama needs to come work with us and realize that the American people don’t want their taxes raised.
I just laughed. An election is a choice between two different plans. More people voted for one plan than the other. Therefore, that’s the one you move forward with. Luckily, Obama holds all the cards. He can do absolutely nothing and taxes go up on 1/1/13.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
The mess started with Clinton, exploded under bush. Let’s not forget that if we are going to continue to blame folks.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Obama has done nothing to remedy the situation. Reagan took over a bigger mess in 80 and had it corrected by 83 and won re-election in a landslide. Getting more people on welfare and foodstamps(which has happened the last 4 years) is not the answer.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:57 AM

Ohh, Cincitucky’s gonna be butt-hurt they’re not considered on the same level as OSU.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
I’ve posed this question before, but I don’t think anyone bit. Basically, I question the inflated role “small business” plays and I think it’s more of a good political talking point than anything else. Are small businesses really that much of a source of innovation? When I think small business, I think of the half dozen local pizza joints which all serve the exact same thing or a bunch of cupcake joints or food trucks. Obviously, I’m overlooking tech things and the role of invention, but aren’t those people going to innovate regardless of the political environment? Someone with a good idea is not going to sit on it if the wrong guy is in office. Additionally, in a nation seeking stability and jobs with benefits, aren’t small businesses the wrong way to go? We have a health system essentially built on employer based coverage, but if you’re not in a large company, that’s going to be tougher. And are small businesses in a position to offer things like paid leave and retirement matching? I don’t know. Bottom line is, it’s great to have an entrepreneurial spirit but I don’t know if that’s the way to build the modern economy. (I’m no economist, feel free to blow my thoughts to pieces)
November 7th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Should rephrase that: I don’t want taxes to go up on everyone. But I like that Obama has leverage to force the GOP to compromise.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Christie should hire a personal chef and trainer today. He needs to get his health together where it cant even be an issue. Best thing for him is this Sandy “fiasco”. His NJ schtick gives him some identity.
Play up the “hatred of politics” talk and negativity from the bit. Dig in the heels on the topic.
I’m not saying he’s by any means a lock but paired with the proper foreign policy team he will have a platform with national appeal. He’ll still need to execute a dynamite campaign but it could happen. In my mind this will outweigh anything on his record.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
GOP: Christie, Ryan, Rubio and Daniels. VP guess is Martinez.
Dems: Biden, Clinton, Beebe and Cuomo. No clue on VP guess.

November 7th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Not sure I can agree to this premise. I am not completely satisfied with what Obama’s done, but I think he’s had some success in foreign policy issues and while the economy is far from healthy, the stock market has rebounded and we are out of the danger zone as far as the AIG/Lehman Brother/Bear Stearns-types of massive financial institution bankruptcies. There was a time in 2008 where we were very close to a complete meltdown. That it was averted has to be considered a success.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
You’re right Queefer, no mandate but he won and we lost. Who gives a fuck what we think, he’s got his 4 years he has no obligation to work with us or reach across the aisle or any of that other loser talk we want to throw out.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Yup. The 01 and 03 cuts will expire, as will the 2% payroll tax cut along with the capital gains tax cuts. Capital gains would go back up to 20.7%, and the top marginal rate would revert back to 39%.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
why not blame reagan while we’re at it since…

November 7th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Yes and no. Bush did have a surplus, which the then turned into the largest tax cut in history, plunging us into debt. Then we started two wars without raising those taxes. So if you wonder why I tune out when the right complains about debt, this is why.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss this post. This is the one I was waiting for.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
That and he used that surplus to do Part D
November 7th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Some thaw, but my guess is that business holds off on hiring until Jan. 1, and maybe after the debt-ceiling and fiscal cliff issues are resolved.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Mess didn’t start with Clinton. He moved further to the right his 2nd term and the economy boomed. He learned his lesson after the 94 massacre.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
He’s going after the obesity demographic. 36% of the U.S. right there.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
This Christie being overweight stuff reminds me of the SNL skit where Hartman (Clinton) runs into a McDonalds and keeps stealing food from patrons while he answers their political questions. Tim Meadows and Kevin Nealon are his Secret Service staff that are like “Hillary told us to keep you outta here Bill!”
November 7th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Philly- do you keep up with commercial real estate? I wonder if this is going to create aMassive cre dump. Cap rates are at 3 year highs, and it may be a good time to sell now to avoid the gains.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Bush’s big cut didn’t put us into debt. It was his massive spending on Iraq and Afghanistan.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
OK Jay V I think I have changed my name. I was wrong. And honestly I am shocked by it. First Prez election where I expected my candidate to win and lost. I guess Silver deserves credit although the state polls turned out to be amazingly accurate. And I guess Obama’s turnout machine beat the LV screens of Gallup and Rasmussen because they didn’t expect that electorate. I hope that both sides will see how split the country is and meet in the middle to solve the nations problems. I won’t hold my breath though.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Reagan only won because Mondale/Ferraro ticket was terrible. People voting remembered how bad Carter/Mondale was and wanted no part of that. Mondale was terrible in the debates and Reagan had all his lines down.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Conversely, the Republican House members have no great incentive to give up too much in negotiations since they’ll be up for re-election in two short years. I’d imagine that their constituents sent them to Washington to not raise taxes.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
Now that is funny.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
these charts suggest otherwise. 1 and 2.

philgp Says:
To your earlier point, there is always going to be a nation that is going to accept our outsourced jobs. We need to have the best ideas and the best products at a global level. That includes future energy and technology. This will be the economic driver.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
I don’t think any Democratic ticket was going to win after the Carter years.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
People need to put aside their jealousy and realize raising taxes on the rich doesn’t stimulate the economy. Rich people (the ones who own companies and employ people) don’t just say “oh well time to pay my fair share” they tighten their belts, lay people off, put off expanding their businesses and the middle class suffers. The booming 80′s (where more people started making 6 figures) proved this.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
Yeah thinking that Rubio will pull all the border states because of his ethnicity is beyond stupid. Cubans are not exactly the favorite group of Mexicans.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
Kudos – way to man up.

November 7th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Revisionist history on Reagan. His numbers were in the tank in 82, economy recovered huge in 83 and early 84 and nobody would have had a shot at beating him in 84.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:10 AM

November 7th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Failed to carry his own state and cost them any shot of Ohio by Romney not picking their guy.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Not my area of expertise, sorry.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
the bill on war in Iraq is approx 800 billion. Add the cost of being unable to finish the job earlier in Afghanistan and that tab comes closer to $1 trillion.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Warlords!
November 7th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Obama won because he was the superior candidate. The irony is the people who have used distortion to attack affirmative action, supported Romney on the basis of these same distortions. He was clearly the inferior candidate in every way: grasp of the issues, consistency, integrity, the lack of a coherent plan, etc. The Party despised Romney so much, you had a clown line of people in the primary who briefly ran as frontrunners before Romney’s money engulfed them. Yet through all of that, Romney was deemed the winner of the first debate simply based on “looking” Presidential. It didn’t matter that his facts were less than truthful. Romney was deemed to have survived the 3rd debate, even though he was overwhelmingly overmatched because by choosing to agree with everything Obama said, instead of honestly debating his point of view, he was simply held to the standard of surviving by not engaging Obama, and making any mistakes. Lower standards for considered success, and “looking” Presidential. That’s all it took for people to support Romney. Maybe next time the Republicans should just nominate Harrison Ford since that all it takes.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Paul Ryan did nothing to help Romney. Still lost Wisconsin, Mass & Michigan too. It will be Jeb 2016.
Saw last night that Repubs havent won an POTUS election in 84 years without someone named Bush or Nixon on the ticket
November 7th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
yea, but we also made a shitton of money off of those wars too to offset some of the cost. bush’s tax cuts didnt see an appreciative boost to the economy to offset the hit to tax revenue.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Moving to Denver, ASAP.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Failed to carry his own state and cost them any shot of Ohio by Romney not picking their guy.
In the end Ohio didn’t matter so I don’t think Ryan pays a price. The correct pick based on exits would have been Rubio I think. Also, Christie as a national Republican candidate is finished fair or not.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
That could be a reality in cre. If that happens, new construction on projects will dry up for awhile.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Alrighty guys, I’ve gotta go for the day. I’ll still be around but likely won’t comment as much in the future (unless I’m provoked!). Thanks for warming up to me a little over time and for keeping things fairly civil. I like to debate/argue, and I really haven’t meant anything personally.

He’d be fantastic. Maybe Clint Eastwood could be his VP and then the VP debate could just be him and an empty chair.
/I’m sorry, Mr. President, I don’t dance (worst line in that movie)
November 7th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Jesus Christ himself was not beating Reagan in 84. His 2nd term was a shitstorm of many levels of underperformance. That underperformance was realized during the Bush 41 years and hurt his predecessor.
Net change takes time. The ineffective government stalled in the Watergate Crisis was realized in the Carter administration. Reagan’s ineffectual 2nd term came to hurt Bush 41. The Bush 43 stuff fully actualized under Obama. There are tons of executive decisions we dont see for a long time. If things were that simple we’d be much better at picking the leaders of our nation.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
The machine is still on, Moira.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
How dare you come in here and bark at me like some junk yard dog! I am the President of the United States!
November 7th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
I always wonder what would have happened had Iran-Contra been a few years earlier. Imagine if a scandal that big involving a flat out lie to the American people that the President had to actually own up to happened these days.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
I think this is an intriguing thought. Democrats definitely have the edge at the national level but it’s hard to believe they’ll have a very compelling candidate in four years. The GOP will have Jindal, Ryan, Rubio, Christie, etc.
It’s the perfect opportunity for a 3rd Party/Independent candidate to come out of the woodwork.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Add Medicare D to that equation, and it completes the combination of all of the factors that created the debt.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
The fact that Newt Fucking Gingrich had some run during the primaries clearly demonstrates this.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
It was funny watching Karl Rove being talked off the ledge last night.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
One of my favorite cinematic moments of all time is when the cartel leader is hitting softballs and Latin Jack gives him the “el presidente de los estado unidos” line and the slow motion turn around from the guy. Epic.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
It will be Jeb 2016.
Christie.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
The fact that Newt Fucking Gingrich had some run during the primaries clearly demonstrates this.
Would have loved to see Gingrich run with Benghazi in the debates though. That would have been good TV.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Time for my bachelor party at fucking IHOP.

yea, but we also made a shitton of money off of those wars too to offset some of the cost. bush’s tax cuts didnt see an appreciative boost to the economy to offset the hit to tax revenue.
well there is the adding cost of changing a nation’s economic complex for adaptation to a war effort. The shifts have many residual impacts to the American workforce and economy. And again, the benefits of your point – it’s mainly money in DOD contractor pockets. The only major military action that wasn’t followed by this economic turbulence was WWII and many factors including the manufacturing upgrades and the increase in training and later, college graduates from the GI Bill, were the catalysts for that.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:21 AM

That part is pretty awesome. Clear and Present Danger is a damn good movie.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Jindal is not a viable candidate.
Whoever won this election was inheriting a recovering economy. Four years from now if we’re better off, that’s a win for whichever party oversees it.
Elizabeth Warren / David Petraeus for the 2016 democratic ticket.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Elizabeth Warren
I wouldn’t rule out Kristin Gillibrand.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Harrison Ford is unelectable due to Indy 4. That will stain his record forever.

November 7th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
I think we’ll be stagnant for a while, but I hope you’re right.
I don’t think Warren can headline a ticket at this point. Biden’s VP? Sure
BTW, when’s the last time an incumbent VP didn’t win a nomination, not counting those that didn’t run (Cheney).

November 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM

November 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
The GOP has some work to do. I am a Democrat, but I want two healthy, sane parties to protect us all from their excesses. My district just got flipped from D to R last night and the R is a pretty reasonable, sane guy so it doesn’t bother me that much.
But the GOP needs to take its party back. It simply can’t go on being the anti-gay, anti-women, anti-minority, anti-intellectual party. It can’t pick pure unadulterated obstructionism as its sole governing tactic. It can’t turn down $2 or $3 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax increases to balance huge budget deficits and national debts that it was largely responsible for creating. It can’t go on denying that climate change is a real issue; the science on this is settled.
It is a party untethered to reality, and I think you saw that in the past 2-3 weeks with the attacks on Nate Silver. My God, the man was averaging scientific polls! It could not get any more quantitative and less biased than that, but conservatives crucified him.
I think we’ll learn a lot in coming weeks. Is the GOP capable of looking itself in the mirror? Or will the hardcores dig in and insist they just need to nominate a “true conservative” and do a better job of hammering home their message?
I hope the GOP finds its way and hitches its wagon to reasonable, sane, decent guys like Chris Christie, Jeb Bush etc. But I agree with some commentary I heard last night that they’ll have trouble making this shift. There’s an entire generation of younger voters who haven’t seen a sane GOP in their lifetimes, and they might be lost forever.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
He seems to think so.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
I would guess no.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Clear and Present Danger is the one where they call the mission ‘Operation Reciprocity’ right? I’m gonna try to use that for whatever new program we have to come up with at work today.
/How dare you, sir!
November 7th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Fair enough, although the name change doesn’t show up yet.
One thing that I think Rasmussen (and apparently Gallup) failed to account for was that a large portion of Independent voters this time around, were really just Republicans who didn’t want to be identified as such anymore, thus they over-compensated for the I vote.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Not the biggest Star Wars fan but wouldnt you think Disney reboots that shit from episode 4 instead of waiting til episode 7? Scripty
I thought the same. Reboots are all the rage. Although, the more I’ve read on this is that they’ll just keep pumping out original sequals every two years forever. They’ll basically treat each movie like a new season of a tv show.

I would guess no. Ark
Yep. Seeing how marijuana is still illegal in Washington and Colorado.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Since marijuana is now legal in Washington and Colorado, would employers stop drug testing for that in those states?
no way. chances are we’ll have more rigor around testing process and regulation as a result of legalization if this continues to blossom.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
i think marijuana would be viewed a little differently since it’s metabolized at a much slower rate and doesn’t have the compounding effects of alcohol (there’s only so high you can get).
November 7th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
I believe on both bills it allows testing and you can still be fired. Fun fact though, you can also be fired for being drunk.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Oh, and there’s no way Biden runs for president in 2016. And if he does, he won’t survive the primary. It just won’t happen. As soon as I saw his quote yesterday I assumed he was only kidding, but the press ran with it and later he joked about running for city council or something.
It won’t happen.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Operation Reciprocity was a great name.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Nope he got North Dakota wrong, my buddy lost 2 parlays on it…
November 7th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Employee testing was one of the sticky situations with the California initiative that failed.

Oh the senate race.

November 7th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
I was talking about the Senate…
November 7th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
No but they can change their stance on what happens when weed shows up in a drug test.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
im sure they’ll figure out some way to adjust since hypothetically smoking a joint legally three weeks prior would still show up in a blood/pee test.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
Tell that to the companies providing workers comp. and liability insurance to businesses.
Boom. Nothing changes. Not until it is legalized Federally.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
If they were smart they would start where “Jedi” left off. Rebuilding the Republic, Han and Leia marry and have twins, etc.. Take a cue from the latest “Star Trek” movie though. Cast well and respect the history. Ryan Gosling is NOT Han Solo for cryin out loud!
November 7th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
So if Montana holds he will have gone 31/33 on the Senate races and 50/50 on the Presidential.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
now, i have no fight in the polling kerfuffle, but i did enjoy john king just pressing states red and blue seemingly at whim every 15 minutes last night. now that’s prognostication.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
Ford has said he will consider being in the movie once he see’s a script and the Director. Though I’ve also read that he wants Solo killed off since apparently that’s what he wanted at the end of Jedi.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
I am sure large corporations will still have the same approach but its not like people that enjoy to smoke pot have not been hired by large corporations. Its a rather easy drug to give up for a job search. Small businesses might look at a positive test differently. But either way this is a huge step towards challenging the federal level.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
They should make 2 sets of new Star Wars. An r-rated set and a kiddie set.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Also to answer the VP question, every election since 1954 there has either been an incumbent President or incumbent Vice President. So it would be very rare for Biden to not win if he ran for the nomination.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
My contribution to the political discussion.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
HTown, I’m very happy for you. Some of you guys here know me IRL, and know where I stand politically, and what I did before my current job in service to this country. I am just right of Genghis Khan. I called my dad (a hardcore union loving lib) the other day and said “You ready to shit your pants? I’m voting Obama.” Realize, I spent serious time with some of the great Republican politicians of the last 30 years. But I could not in good conscience vote for anyone who thinks gays are an abomination. And actually believes it. It is unacceptable to me. And really, the rest of their policies are so close to equal that something that small was enough for me.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
08?
November 7th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Based on Souseds comments, his employer has quite the tolerance for drunkenness.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
But either way this is a huge step towards challenging the federal level.
It is a step. But it has to change on the federal level. The feds are still busting California growers that are growing legally by state laws. It is all a clusterfuck. I don’t think we are more than an election cycle or two away from this coming to a head. The biggest step that can be taken in the short term is to have marijuana removed from the Schedule 1 list of controlled substances.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Well he had asked “Aside from Cheney.”
November 7th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Yep, I think Biden is will follow Cheney’s footsteps in that regard. I doubt he gives any serious consideration to a Presidential run whatsoever.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
I still blame Jeri Ryan being shitty in bed for Obama even being elected the first time. If she wasn’t such a fuddy-duddy this would never have happened.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Oh, and another word of advice for conservatives: stop elevating asshats like Donald Trump and Sarah Palin into the spiritual leaders of the party. You can’t be taken seriously when you do that.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
I think that’s an opinion we can all get behind

Biden and Hilary would be better fits on the court than running in 2016 but sadly they’re both too old for that as well.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
I would agree though last night people were saying he was giving it serious thought. Perhaps he was joking as indicated above.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
With free healthcare companies can afford a liability like myself.
Here is the last gasp of the Horatio Alger fellating morons, kneeling before the robber barons hoping for a turn. Taxing the rich or decreasing taxes on the rich does not stimulate an economy. There is no question of this. GOP pretending to care about a deficit (who was the last republican to balance a budget?) but refusing to end bush tax cuts is proof positive they serve only the plutocrats. There is a structural deficit and employment deficit, higher tax revenues on the wealthy have no negative effect and can address both problems. Stop grasping at lottery tickets like straws, get off your knees, you don’t have to blow them.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Golfercraig, any insight on the NIke Covert line they are releasing?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
LOL, I had forgotten all about that.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Congrats to all the Obama supporters. Here’s to all of us hopefully being better off over the next four years.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Biden has already said he’s not going to run in 2016. He could change his mind, but I highly doubt that would happen.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
It’s a bit premature to start considering who will run in 2016. In 2004, no one had Obama as 44. In 2008, everyone was predicting Palin would run for POTUS or it’d be Bobby Jindal. Neither happened.
For all we know, Christie doesn’t make it to 2016 and they find that Rubio is really the made-up stage name of one Mark Rodgers.
As for last night, I expect many within the GOP to try and dig their heels in. You already hear it “Romney wasn’t conservative enough.”
November 7th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
This isn’t exactly true. It was pretty well known, at least locally, that he was running in 2008.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:12 AM

Especially since he gave the keynote address at the 2004 Dem. Convention. He was building his “brand” up for a Presidential run.
Romney has been running for prez for the last 8 years.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
I still blame Jeri Ryan being shitty in bed for Obama even being elected the first time.
Greatest story ever.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
You know, we haven’t had a true fat man in the White House since Taft. We may be due.
/ Bubba doesn’t count, he was just hefty
November 7th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
Thanks GC. I am pretty cost-conscious on club costs but I could see buying these after the first initial price reduction (like late next summer). I am a slave to keeping my driver and wood the same style and these have absolutely got my attention.

Dick Morris = Nostrodamus
November 7th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
I wouldnt’t even pile on them but it is absolutely cowardly for a few people to be absent today. I mean, I still expect the UM fans to show up after OSU beats them down in a few weeks.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Bubba doesn’t count, he was just hefty
Running to Mickey D’s didn’t help.
Where is MikeNYC?
trying to sneak into Canada?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Considering the NFL bans players for taking prescribed anxiety meds, I would imagine this changes nothing. Private employers aren’t impacted unless the referendums had something built in about that.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Skewed polls by the mainstream media.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Why is Nate Silver wasting his time projecting elections when he could be picking NFL/hoops games? Do his stats like Toronto +6 at Dallas?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Do you have my e-mail address? It is my name here at gmail dot com. Shoot me an e-mail when you are looking and I’ll help any way I can.

Still love Phil Hartman as Clinton jogging into McDonalds and eating peoples food.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
What’s more likely re 2016: GOP retakes the White Houswe then, or Jets win a Super Bowl by then?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
His main gig was baseball projections, since he is the creator of PECOTA. You know, that dying sport.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
Disappointing run for Mike NYC. Only shows up to rip me or a post or the idea of interns.

November 7th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
“MikeNYC, Rodney, ImJustSayin: put this gag in your mouth and step over there please.”
I don’t know about those other guys, but I was proven correct on what I predicted – namely that Obama would win Ohio and Virginia and that would be that. He did even better than I thought by winning Florida.
I was also correct that Queefer would remain a smug douche regardless of the outcome of the election.
That makes me 2-0.
I think I stated that Romney would win Wisconsin at one point, more out of jest towards ATL_Childmolester than any seriousness.
Silver was certainly more on than Rasmussen. Rasmussen has a lot of crow to eat. Among my conservative friends, I’ve been saying for weeks that their assumption that Rasmussen’s polling was above bias but all other polls weren’t was silly.
In sum, the American people voted for more of the same of the past 2 years. Gridlock. I don’t see either side compromising and we’ll be back here in 2 years and we’ll see if anything changes. We’re about to go over a fiscal cliff and our debt is going to crush us in the end if it’s not addressed. Gay marriage, abortion – who gives a fuk right now?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
Cunts?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
The question is, will some of these guys lose all credibility as a result? How can even the most ardent conservative Republican trust any of his/Rove’s projections in the future?

November 7th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
The Reagan-esque revisionism is strong in this one.
/Fuck yeah
November 7th, 2012 at 10:29 AM
To be fair he’s not really a child molester. He only fucks them after they’re dead.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Pretty sure Rodney didn’t say Romney would win, don’t really see any revisionism there. Only thing he was really wrong about was North Carolina. Petey Pablo failed to pump up the electorate.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
More importantly, did the marijuana legalization pass in Colorado? If so, will Obama finally quit being a hypocrite on this issue?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
Yep. Thats not enough to take the crown away from Traderjack.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
One of the greatest presidential skits of all time. Intercepted by warlords!
November 7th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
Thanks GC I will do that.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
I’m not sure Dick Morris had a shred of credibility remaining even before last night. Almost everyone who predicted a Romney win are garden variety partisan hacks so this should affect their standing among anyone who pays attention to them in the first place.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
“Only thing he was really wrong about was North Carolina.”
Yeah, I thought Obama would pull that one out too. Looked like he might at one point with all the historically democratic leaning precincts being the last to report.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
Doubt it. Hard to justify the military-industrial complex funding of police departments if you don’t continue baselessly fighting a war on drugs.
Of all the things he disappointed me most on, that one was the one that surprised me the most.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:33 AM
I know Rodney gets piled on but he did say all along that the thought Obama would win.
Fox will probably let Dick Morris’ contract expire. He is just an idiot. Boortz is unhinged on the radio this morning.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
“I’m not sure Dick Morris had a shred of credibility remaining even before last night. Almost everyone who predicted a Romney win are garden variety partisan hacks so this should affect their standing among anyone who pays attention to them in the first place.”
I think you give way too much credit to people. I think all these cable news outlets are more entertainment than anything else. People tune in to hear what they want to hear, not some objective “truth.” Thus, MSNBC and Fox aren’t going to suddenly start pissing in the kool-aid their viewers want to drink.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:37 AM
If the Republicans nominate Jindal in 2016, they will get what they deserve.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
No way McConnell is able to hold his coalition together in lockstep after the desired results of the 4 year obstruction plan failed last night. As a matter of fact, he has his own race to worry about.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
The losers: productive Americans and those who still believe in supporting themselves financially.
The winners: the Obama Phone electorate who think they are owed something, which now, amazingly, makes up the majority of the American electorate.
Rich folks will get taxed a little more, but will survive. The rest of the American people will continue to suffer with 8% unemployment, record high deficits, and no good jobs or upward mobility. So in essence, little has changed. Though when 2016 rolls around, one would hope The One will be able to full own the failures of his policies.
Congrats to POTUS for enacting his revenge.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
If Barry O wins Florida like it appears he’s going to, he’ll have 332 EVs to Romney’s 206. First Dem to get 50 percent of the PV in consecutive elections since FDR.
Absolute domination.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:40 AM
Cannot wait to listen to Limbaugh today. Holy shit.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:40 AM
Shouldn’t you be raping some girl, you know, because you see yourself as a persecuted Ayn Rand character.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:40 AM
Gay marriage, abortion – who gives a fuk right now?
The far right who are staunchly refusing to nominate a guy unless they say “OVERTURN ROE V. WADE” and “NO GHEYS GETTING MARRIED!” I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face: if Republican majority says enough on that, they can get more folks in their tent.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:43 AM
whoa whoa whoa…did not see that. awesome grab for nike.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Thanks to the I-4 corridor. How many times was that said last night?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:43 AM
The GOP will have Jindal, Ryan, Rubio, Christie, etc
If the Republicans nominate Jindal in 2016, they will get what they deserve.
Will never happen. What’s worse is Jindal will level Louisiana to ensure he’s got the bonafides.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:45 AM
Read something over the weekend about talks involving Hamill, Fisher and Ford about making an appearance in the next movie as older versions of Luke, Leia and Han. So maybe there’s hope. A new hope.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:45 AM
Which is exactly what Drew Linzer predicted.

Same thing has been said on the immigration issue. Hell, Dubya was desperate to get that win on their column and his own peeps shot him down hard.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:47 AM
At one time, way back when, I was a regular listener of his. I may give him a listen today. Curious about his take on things. Don’t even know when he comes on any more.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:47 AM
If this was even close to true, Obama would have swept the Republican base in the south. Nice try though.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:48 AM
If they were smart they would start where “Jedi” left off. Rebuilding the Republic, Han and Leia marry and have twins, etc.
Read something over the weekend about talks involving Hamill, Fisher and Ford about making an appearance in the next movie as older versions of Luke, Leia and Han. So maybe there’s hope. A new hope.
Part of me wishes they move like a century or so forward. Then I realize that that’s not what most want to see. They want to see the old guys back.
I just hope it’s not their kids’ adventures. That’d be awful.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:49 AM
The winners: the Obama Phone electorate who think they are owed something, which now, amazingly, makes up the majority of the American electorate.
Knock this shit off, dude. I’m part of that 47 percent cause I got a tax refund. I work my 40+ hours a week like most others and now I gotta listen to all this “well, you’re lazy and expect people to take care of you” crap. Whatever. You clearly seem to think more than half the country are lazy do-nothings and that only you and your small band of productive folks are keeping the country afloat. Whatever helps get you of bed, guy.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
The question is, will some of these guys lose all credibility as a result? How can even the most ardent conservative Republican trust any of his/Rove’s projections in the future?
i feel like they are asked to project that way, to give hope, excite voters. there are so many that get their views from watching biased media and ads. ‘hey dick, put out these projections, and we’ll take care of you’
just another ho, and so doesn;t care about his rep
November 7th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
Cannot wait to listen to Limbaugh today. Holy shit.
He loves a Democrat being President. Easier to bitch about things. Ratings gold.

Fry: It is?
Bender: Yep. My full name is Bender Bending Rodriguez.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
I was monetarily and politically in the tank for Obama but I get very uncomfortable seeing people clap for a politician. Not a good scene, all political rallies should have an aura of menacing silence with everyone in the audience sharpening weapons. They should fear us, we will fuck you up if you screw us.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
Was he afraid of the riots and chaos engulfing our nation in the wake of the Obama re-election?
November 7th, 2012 at 10:58 AM
im all for support…but politicians that fail should be publicly executed. that’d keep em on the up and up.

November 7th, 2012 at 11:00 AM
Frankly, Reagan did it by using “stimulus” — expanded the federal government, greatly increased deficit spending (expanding federal debt to 3x what is was before he came to office), and cutting taxes. Public employment (State and Federal workers and other public employees) expanded during Reagan, while public employment has dramatically dropped under Obama (by approximately 600,000 jobs).
This really is not a mystery. Stimulating the economy during recessions and raising revenue in a thoughtful manner during times of economic recovery is what needs to be done. The problem is that stimulating the economy by reducing taxes or increased government spending is the easy part and something both Democrats and Republicans support (well, Republicans support it when they are the ones doing the tax cuts/speding increases). But we lack the political conviction to take our medicine during the recovery.

Stop punishing whistle blowers you dick
Stop hunting people with Decepticons
Patriot act, are you fucking kidding fuck off with that shit
Get over yourself and your backwards ass federal laws on weed
Get those fucking Goldman Sachs cunts away from you and decisions
Raise the minimum wage

those are Freedom Machines.
November 7th, 2012 at 11:03 AM
QueeferSutherland I think the media has a very good reason to play it up as a nail biter, they are the ones who get all of the campaign money. The best argument for the dismantling of the electoral college is that the media companies in the biggest markets are not getting any of the ad buys anymore. No one at CBS, NBC, or ABC are happy that local affiliates are raking in the cash and no one is buying ads at the network owned stations in the big 10 markets.
November 7th, 2012 at 11:06 AM
See I didn’t even know they block prescribed anxiety medications. I thought it was just a ban on any supplement that was illegally obtained or that may gain them a physical playing advantage.
Considering the NFL bans players for taking prescribed anxiety meds, I would imagine this changes nothing. Private employers aren’t impacted unless the referendums had something built in about that.
November 7th, 2012 at 11:07 AM
Rush is loving this. He gets to rile up all his angry fan base today, and BONUS!, he gets the others who want to tune in to hear what he will say. More ratings and mo’ money for him. He is lighting cigars with Ben Franklins today.

November 7th, 2012 at 11:25 AM
Also, I want to know the Jeri Ryan story.
On June 18, 2004, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Schnider agreed to release the custody files.[30] The decision generated much controversy because it went against both parents’ direct request and because it generally reversed the early decision to seal the papers in the best interest of the child. It was revealed that six years previously, Jeri had accused Jack Ryan of asking her to perform sexual acts with him in public,[31] and in sex clubs in New York, New Orleans, and Paris.[29][32] Jeri Ryan described one as “a bizarre club with cages, whips and other apparatus hanging from the ceiling.”[33] Jack Ryan denied these allegations. Although Jeri Ryan only made a brief statement,[34] and she refused to comment on the matter during the campaign, the document disclosure led Jack Ryan to withdraw his candidacy;[35][36] his main opponent, Barack Obama, then won the 2004 United States Senate election in Illinois.[37]
