Thanks for creating an election thread, Shy Ronnie. Didn’t want to litter up the Vick post.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:44 PM
Pretty much what we would expect.
As of now, CNN projects Romney with 33 electoral (IN, KY, SC, WV). Wonder how the POTUS feels at this second?
Is he cold chillin’, sitting up to pay attention, or is he pacing the floor?
November 6th, 2012 at 7:45 PM
Dude has to be pacing, right? And smoking?
November 6th, 2012 at 7:47 PM
“hey, you got a square?”
/taps filter on back of hand
//not a smoker, but know lots of ‘em
November 6th, 2012 at 7:48 PM
@ezraklein: Right now, all the data we’re getting in tracks state polling over the last week. if that holds, it’s bad news for Romney.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:51 PM
Don’t mind admitting it’s interesting to watch it unfold. In the past, I’d be busy getting ready for the next day’s work & not watching early results.
I figure it’s gonna go back and forth a bit. Even with poll results that have been mentioned here the last week or more, Romney is gonna get a good amount of support. The POTUS may win, but it will be close.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:52 PM
He doesn’t care those states do not matter at all. The states that matter are FL, OH, and VA. He quit smoking according to reports.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:52 PM
Why would he be pacing after those results? Not a shock at all that the racist states would go for the white guy.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:52 PM
/poops on politics
November 6th, 2012 at 7:53 PM
That list is shocking.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:54 PM
Obama is gonna win easily in the Electoral College but the popular vote will be very close in my opinion.

We have an early front-runner for moronic comment of the night.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:55 PM
It’s not like the POTUS is Ron Reagan, “universally loved”. With as many people still out of work, the incumbent takes the blame (right or wrong).
As Truman noted when he was in the White House, “the buck stops here”.
Sure it’s early. That’s why it’s fun to crack wise now. Tomorrow morning when everything settles, we may be weeping – tears of joy or sadness. Whichever.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:56 PM
I find I’m more interested in finding out the results of the gay marriage and marijuana ballot questions.. would love for Maine to be the first ones to do it
November 6th, 2012 at 7:56 PM
Holy shit its 49-3!!!!
/oh that’s just the Saints-Eagles halftime score
November 6th, 2012 at 7:57 PM
I’m actually checking out the ladies in the background at Romney HQ. Lots of ladies in skirts & pumps. Me likey.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:58 PM
The chick on CNN is a smoke show. She’s on Bill Maher a lot. Would definitely donkey punch her ballot.
November 6th, 2012 at 7:59 PM
Watching the local Philly NBC affiliate now and reports that some polling places still demanded ID and turned away folks who didn’t have it, shocking.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:00 PM
Tomorrow morning when everything settles, we may be weeping – tears of joy or sadness. Whichever.
I’m sad now. I’ve been sad for about 6 years and will be sad for 4 more no matter what.
Politics, our government and our “leaders” universally suck.

November 6th, 2012 at 8:05 PM
Angus King the Independent takes Snowe’s seat in Maine, that is awesome.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:05 PM
Romney is going to lose Michigan and Massachusetts, his two home states, and Ryan will lose Wisconsin.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:05 PM
I think Reagan is the only Republican in the last 50 years to win Massachusetts
November 6th, 2012 at 8:06 PM
The chick on CNN is a smoke show.
Name?
I turned it for 3 minutes and Wolf Blitzer’s monotone made my ears bleed.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:06 PM
Cnn shows 64-40 now in electorate for obama
November 6th, 2012 at 8:06 PM
Yeah, I’m trusting CNN projection. What am I thinking??
…which I heard was a key part of Romney’s self-described “attractiveness” as a candidate – his ability to reach across the aisle & build consensus. Looks like he oversold that quality.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:08 PM
Ronny has the big boss man clued you in to the banhammer yet? Election Night 2008 got a little wild.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
What’s everybody watching? I have CBS up. Maybe we need to spread out the coverage.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
Only paid employees get access to the banhammer.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
Looks like he oversold that quality.
Never ever heard about a politician overselling themselves. Imagine that.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
I think I’m more amazed that 18% of conservatives in Ohio voted for Obama instead of Romney.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:10 PM
scripty, I’m on CNN, but I can change. Call the audible, I’ll shift.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:10 PM
I’m watching Fox News. They keep trying to blame everything on Sandy.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:10 PM
Maybe we need to spread out the coverage.
Let’s ask the new Eagle’s defensive coordinator about that.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:10 PM

Angus King rocking shit up there in ME. Independent win for Senate.
Is probably going to caucus with Democrats. But he’s no Bernie Sanders so I don’t know if he’s always going to be an automatic Democratic vote.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:12 PM
Ms621 in 2008, the majority of southwestern Ohio went for Obama.

November 6th, 2012 at 8:13 PM
I did see the Indiana congress race is tight. The Republican candidate is Mourdock who made those stupid rape and abortion comments last week
November 6th, 2012 at 8:13 PM
I think I’m more amazed that 18% of conservatives in Ohio voted for Obama instead of Romney.
Well, first off, there are no convervatives in SE Ohio. Coal country is pretty enthusiastic for GOP. And I the auto-bailout shit really cost Romney in OH especially NW OH. Not saying it aint coming down to the wire here.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
Oh Angus King is nutballs. He’ll make things interesting at least, but he’ll definitely caucus with the Dens.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:15 PM
If obama is reelected, i just hope congress will work with him and not dick around
November 6th, 2012 at 8:16 PM
That’s nice guys, can’t I just be amazed that 18% of those polled who self-identified as conservatives voted for a relatively liberal Democrat?
November 6th, 2012 at 8:16 PM
I hope that no matter who is elected Congress doesn’t dick around. We don’t need another 4 years of ridiculous obstructionism.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:16 PM
Hipster Al Jazeera online, great coverage. Big thanks to the women of America reelecting Obama, you skirts are alright.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:16 PM
Well, yes tarheel, i agree

I’m pretty much stuck on NBC, because I heart Brian Williams
November 6th, 2012 at 8:17 PM
If obama is reelected, i just hope congress will work with him and not dick around
Mitch McConnell has indicated that he would change his tune if Obama is reelected, but I find that difficult to believe.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:17 PM
That Dem Senator in FL just got the win according to CBS. If that trend holds for the POTUS then thats a big indicator.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:17 PM
NO. well, okay
November 6th, 2012 at 8:18 PM
I didnt see 60 Minutes on Sunday but I heard he and the other congressman on there were ridiculous. I know sportsgal was railing about it on twitter
November 6th, 2012 at 8:18 PM
Bob Scheiffer was just describing “The Big Black Vote” of North Carolina.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:19 PM
That Dem Senator in FL just got the win according to CBS. If that trend holds for the POTUS then thats a big indicator.
Bill Nelson is a fairly independent Democrat and Connie Mack IV failed to hang Obama around Nelson’s neck. A Nelson victory is not shocking. I still think Romney wins Florida by a narrow margin.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:19 PM
Bob Scheiffer was just describing “The Big Black Vote” of North Carolina.
Heh.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:19 PM

November 6th, 2012 at 8:21 PM
I know it’s only 27% of the vote counted but I never expected Donnelly to be up 5 points in Indiana at this point. Mourdock fucked up bad.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:22 PM
Uh, I’m in Colorado. Strive for accuracy, Bob.

November 6th, 2012 at 8:24 PM
Indiana is usually a republican-heavy state, right?
Very. Donnelly would be the first person who didn’t have Bayh as a last name to hold statewide office in Indiana in quite a long time. Though Obama did win Indiana four years ago, but that says more about McCain’s campaign I think.

November 6th, 2012 at 8:32 PM
So when I voted today I didn’t realize the ballot was double sided. Totally didn’t get my votes in on the proposals. As I was leaving I was like shit, I didn’t vote on the proposals.

November 6th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
AP, I don’t know much about her except that superPACs threw a ton of money into the race.
November 6th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
They were saying the ads in the Tri-State (CT, NY, NJ) that McMahon was leaving flyers on doors that she supports Obama’s programs. Guess 100 million and saying anything to get elected doesn’t always work. Though I’d like to still reverse Citizens United

I would think if Kaine takes senate seat in VA, that bodes well for Obama. More correlation between senate and presidential in VA than any other swing state, like FL, OH, or PA which all called D early

They all agree not to call the national election until the last polls close, and not to call specific state races until that state polls close. Both in order to keep people motivated to vote and not give up in western states

Nice work, Michigan.

Is Jeb Bush in charge of Florida? He’s probably re-writing election law as we speak.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:04 PM
The Florida panhandle has a lot of conservative votes and they closed later than the rest of the state. I bet that margin in Florida gets a lot tighter.

Question: Why are there so many delays/lines at polling stations? Does it just have to do with population density? Is there a reason there are just not more polling stations?
I went during the “busiest time all day” (according to the guy handing out ballots)…and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

November 6th, 2012 at 9:12 PM

Independence, Mo. That’s where the Garden of Eden was. Is. I dunno. And the Mormon crew there is a different sect from the Utah Mormons. Romney Mormons. They just built a mutli-million dollar building there.

After listening to all of the horror stories I will only vote absentee or early depending on the state I live in. Don’t vote on the actual day.

I’ve told this story before, but when Randolph first came out, he was on the early 2000s jambands circuit. I saw him at the Grand Emporium (now defunct) on Main St. in midtown KC. Holy shit. Hot chicks everywhere dancing. I had a blast. It was more of party with the Family Band as the house band. Did I mention hot chicks sweating and dancing in this hot and humid bar. My friend and I were trashed and hung around after the show. Robert and his cousin (I think his name is Dannel) were mashing lips with the two fattest white girls at the show in a booth.

Florida panhandle is huge bible belt country, especially Pensacola
November 6th, 2012 at 9:35 PM
Right now if Obama wins Ohio (and everything else goes as expected) then it will at worst be a tie per CBS after adding in WI and NH.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:35 PM
Not really, the panhandle hasn’t been counted yet. That area is pretty conservative
Yeah, but there’s also far fewer people.

Does it really matter if the rest of the state is a 50/50 tie? It’s over either way. Obama wins. The Republicans can block anything he tries pushing thru. Both parties grandstand and the rest of us get fucked.

That the normally blue states stay blue and the normally red states stay red including the ones that have yet to come in. CBS left the remaining battlegrounds as undetermined.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:44 PM
Seriously, best news of the night.
The fucking Conservative PAC’s spent almost $20 million dollars on that undeserving little shit. And what did it get them? Months of commercials with his shit eating grin and a free bowl of soup.
I dislike the new funding models that allow the over the top spending on commercials. Mandel’s campaign was a disgrace. He had nothing to run on except to trash Brown, who is a solid guy regardless of his political affiliation. He had 90% of the commercial time in Ohio for Senate, yet still got de-pantsed.

I hope so, I’m ready to go to bed. I’ll read all of the meltdowns on here tomorrow at work.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
ABC just called Sherrod Brown…way to catch up. Still no call on Indiana.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
The President of NBC, CNN, FOX and ABC are calling the head of CBS News begging them not to give OH to Barry yet. They need to sell at least another hour of ads before they can call this election.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
Indiana Republicans really fucked up that primary, eh?
November 6th, 2012 at 9:50 PM
And CNN finally called Pennsylvania.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:50 PM
Come on Ohio. Come on……..
November 6th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
They MIGHT, MIGHT wait until after 10pm so they can let the polls close in the bulk of PST time zone states. But I bet they feel good about their exit polling and want to be the first to call it.
I think the call happens immediately out of the commercial break on the top of the 10pm hour.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
I hope so, I’m ready to go to bed. I’ll read all of the meltdowns on here tomorrow at work. Tarheel
You got to stay up. McIntyre will scrub all the good stuff. And, by good, I mean bad. And not bad meaning good.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
Richard Lugar really fucked up that primary, eh?
The guy handed it to Mourdock.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
I’m in for the long run tonight.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
They’re blaming it on Olivia Newton John
November 6th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
Oh fuck I just cracked some red bulls. TBL is out there somewhere doing the red bull and vodka I am sure.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
IF this CBS commercial break goes another 2-3 ads I think they call it out after the ads.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
I bet the msnbc’s camera lenses Are covered in Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddox’s semen.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
Everything is pointing to Ohio going to Obama is he’s up over 2008 in key counties, crushing the early vote, in the right poll spot. Just call it.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
And ABC calls New Hampshire, calling it “the first big battle ground election”….someone put a bullet in Diane Sawyer, I think she’s jumped the shark.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
NBC doesnt have the boots on the ground in exit polling. No way Fox is calling it first for Barry. Disney News, no way.
CBS will call it.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
I bet the msnbc’s camera lenses Are covered in Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddox’s semen.
What the hell are you doing watching MSNBC.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
so what’s the margin for a recount in FL?
and it’s too bad more GOP talking heads aren’t like Steve Schmidt. he seems like he’s based in reality.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
Nope. Both being calm and professional. You know, the exact opposite of Fox News.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
Romney is about to lose Florida,Ohio, and Virginia.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
I think you’re right scripty. May switch from ABC over to CBS. Also I’d love to hear Bob Schiefer make another black cock joke.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
You know what’s awesome? In 2016 some conservative will figure out that they need more than white people to be president, and the world will be a lot better.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Damn CBS came back and going back to commercials already. I sense it.
Sorry if I am beating the drum on it. I worked some elections they are by far the #1 night if you’re a serious journalist. Pretty damn exciting if you are in the editors room seeing who makes the call on a race first.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Yeah Steve Schmidt owns.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
FL is going to recount. I dont even think that’s up for debate.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
NBC doesnt have the boots on the ground in exit polling. No way Fox is calling it first for Barry. Disney News, no way.
Fox just called NH for Obama. I got sick of watching Wolf and switched over. Now Tucker Carlson is speaking. He doesn’t even have the dignity to wear a bow-tie.
And listening to Fox more, they know Romney is dead in the water. They just aren’t saying it.
Off to do something else.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
I’m with you scripty. My wife is already asleep on the couch next to me. I can’t get enough of this though. I have 8 different elections website tabs open in Firefox.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
I am not watching, just a guess. When Obama wins, Maddow will unleash a load that could shampoo a buff’ler.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
maybe not, and then by 2020 you’ve got a real 3rd party candidate who appeals to the moderate white conservatives, independent and moderate liberals.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
That candidate will still lose to someone who believes that humans rode dinosaurs about 2500 years ago.
November 6th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
AL Jazeera is ad free and with NH for Obama saying they expect Dems to start popping bottles.
/Fuck ya GOP closeted slappers
November 6th, 2012 at 9:58 PM
Obama putting up 320+ EVs would be unreal.

November 6th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Allen West is dead even with an unknown Democratic challenger in Florida with 93% of the vote counted. That’s a surprise.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
btw the U.S. Ambassador to Germany is talking in german public ( tax funded ) tv about us foreign policy ( drones / iran / iraq / afgahnistan )
November 6th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
John Barrow holding a 6 point lead with 66% of the vote counted in his Georgia district. Impressive considering Republicans gerrymandered his district and took away his Savannah base.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
Ohio by 10:30…it’s gonna happen
November 6th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
Excuse me, Barrow with an 8 point lead.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
CBS has Nevada leaning to Obama now.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
Is there any chance left for Romney in Ohio?
November 6th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
I found this campaign endlessly entertaining and hope they have another 10m ad spend to get out the door between now and Christmas.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:03 PM

I was thinking the OH race was going to be a 1% margin of victory. It’s not. It’s a rout. Don’t fuck with the auto industry in OH apparently.

November 6th, 2012 at 10:05 PM

November 6th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
Joe the Plummer going to lose to Marcy Kaptur in Ohio.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Such candidate would need to be pro-choice and favor tax cuts and less government spending. What fucking PAC is going to finance that?
November 6th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Some really interesting house races going on around the country.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
CBS is getting a Obama rep ready, setting up the in-house shots of the campaigns. Everything they are doing reeks of them stalling, waving their middle fingers to the other networks. If the 2000 fiasco never happened, CBS would have already called it.
I think the editors are just waiting for the mathematical certainty to call it.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:07 PM

It seems some of those states that the GOP wont gubenatorial (sic) races the last elections are now going back DEM this race. People got a taste of Walker and Kasich and said NO MORE.

The people on Fox News look like they are about to cry.
This is great tv. Juan Williams has a better stylists than the two fake blond chicks that I have no idea who are. I have no dog in this race (I voted for Vermin Supreme. He had no chance of winning) but this is fun.

In Fear and Loathing in America, The Gonzo Letters Vol II, Hunter S. broke it all down back in the early 70′s how the first to get the brown vote would run the country.

November 6th, 2012 at 10:14 PM

Lou Dobbs just got done bogarting the mic on Fox Business. The sky is falling, just ask him.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Are there any polls open left in the continental 48? That’s the only reason I can imagine them dragging this out.
I have a family member who runs a city council in a top 10 OH city. I’ve seen how some of these polls operate in terms of reporting. Some of these guys that report the votes seem to hate life itself.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
i haven’t seen anything yet on the Romney camp, figured it was being handled the same way you don’t see a body before a wake.

HST. Legend. He became a sad caricature of himself in the 90s, but his books were great back then. I would add Fear and Loathing on The Campaign Trail ’72 is also awesome.

November 6th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Perfect description.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
Maybe I’ll actually see him, I’ve only been back in MA for a year but I haven’t seen him in Wrentham/Franklin or around the Senate office in Boston. Although I’m quite left of center, I wanted to like him since he seems more middle of the road (although I’m not sure his voting record reflects that), but I like Warren that much more and her passion for consumer rights
November 6th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
That’s the only reason I can imagine them dragging this out.

November 6th, 2012 at 10:21 PM
Wasn’t Groin touting Dick Morris?
November 6th, 2012 at 10:21 PM
I was at a fundraiser 2 weeks ago and he showed up. Lots of security, likable guy, but I concur with you on Warren. The closer for me were his ads at the end which said “Vote the man, not the party”. If you’re a fricking Republican, don’t be afraid to say you’re a Republican.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:21 PM
Tammy Baldwin is behind her in goal to become the first lesbian in the Senate (have there been any publicly gay Senators ever?)

Ohio is more Walmart than even Arkansas. Awesome that they’re swinging our leadership.
November 6th, 2012 at 10:27 PM
I sort of took that as calling Democrats to vote for him and not just go with Warren. Seemed like he did have to go through quite a bit to distance himself from the extreme elements of his party though, I find conservatives in MA aren’t nearly as nuts as those I encountered in MO
November 6th, 2012 at 10:28 PM

No shit, genius. My real hope is that someone was monitoring all of these pundits and at least half of them don’t appear again four years from now. And by the way, he’s talking about the popular vote being in Romney’s favor right now, even though the West Coast is going to come in strongly for Obama.

Alan Grayson going back to Congress from Florida. If Allan West can hold on, he’s up 2,000 votes with 92% counted, that will make for some interesting state delegation meetings.
Gridlock is interesting.
All these self-centered jackasses can go fuck themselves. All members of both parties are serving nothing but themselves and their close circle of friends. If you think you’ll be better off by any of what happens tonight you’re completely delusional.
And yes, I wrote-in Gary Johnson today. Fuck this two party gridlock.

All the large CLE school districts that had levy taxes up – they are all passing. That means the old voters are losing big. CLE is a big win for the Dems and when that gets reported to the state, it means OH is a win. It will take some significant odd spike in the voting pattern for OH to somehow turn for Barry to lose OH.

November 6th, 2012 at 11:32 PM
You’re drinking steak marinade???
I refuse to spend $40 for a .750 of bourbon. Unless, it is a special occasion. Of which, this election is not.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
This is the one clown, of out all up for election, I would really like to see just go away. This guy makes Michele Bachmann look sane

It couldn’t hurt.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Open question for all y’all: what’s the most prudent way-ahead for the Republicans to set up for 2016?
Is it a rising star? Changing approach on certain foundational issues?
November 6th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Romney hasn’t conceded yet, I don’t think you do such things until the other guy’s thrown in the towel
November 6th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
FoxNews is off the rails, a hot blond wandering the halls, no one knows whats going on.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Where is Megyn Kelly going? So odd.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:35 PM
Republicans need to focus on winning women, Latinos, gays and young people, otherwise future national elections are going to be tricky.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:35 PM
Changing approach on certain foundational issues?
this x100
need to find another down to earth hillbilly like Bush, broad naked ambition by millionaires will not cut it anymore.

This is the one clown, of out all up for election, I would really like to see just go away. This guy makes Michele Bachmann look sane
My favorite part of his first term is that he channeled his inner Joe McCarthy and claimed to know that there were at least 80 communists in Congress.

the Yale-educated son of a wealthy former President?
November 6th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
Did anyone call Nevada yet?
November 6th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
SROD – to answer your question, the Republicans have always seemed to run a retread who had run for President or VP before (other than W). Nixon, Dole, Reagan, Bush 1, McCain and Romney had run previous to their nominations/wins. So Ryan is the leader in the clubhouse. If they were smart (insert your own joke here), they’d find a candidate who could relate to black and hispanic voters, but I just don’t see their message on immigration, outsourcing, taxes or jobs really working with those demographics.

YEah I knew it was stupid when I typed it, but he fooled most into believing that, Romney could not
November 6th, 2012 at 11:39 PM
SROD: Republicans need to go big tent.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:40 PM
I refuse to spend $40 for a .750 of bourbon.
Just kidding. I always have a large bottle of E.W. in the cabinet and yes, I use it for marinades. I usually have a bottle of Bulleit (which I’m drinking now) for sipping.
When the Bulleit is gone, I don’t complain about the E.W.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:40 PM

November 6th, 2012 at 11:41 PM

November 6th, 2012 at 11:41 PM
cmon oil up romneybot and get him out there
November 6th, 2012 at 11:41 PM
SROD I think all that depends on where things are in 2015. Lots of people throw out the early candidates and I think the fresh face will beat overexposure. Nobody knew about Barry early on in 2007.
Also, the GOP needs to get their act together at the local level. The winner of the last four presidential elections ran a better campaign from the top-to-bottom.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:42 PM
Stop appealing to and appeasing those jackasses in the Deep South. They ain’t going nowhere. Where else are they going? Move your party to the center , Rockefeller Republican style.

When the Bulleit is gone, I don’t complain about the E.W.
Oh, I know. I’m getting old. I’ve got a kid in school and don’t drink as much. I’m not cheap, but I do look for value. And Evan is fine by me. Bulleit is great. And Hawkeye is right. Evan is an all around bourbon. It can play any position. Except ginger ale. Never been around that before.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:46 PM
Whoever made the point about Christie is good as well. I think it was a strategic move for him to talk all about himself (instead of Romney) at the convention, and to compliment and collaborate with Obama after Sandy, as he could see the writing on the wall.
Obama isn’t the only one who’ll see gain from that. You’ll see Christie bi-partisan tv ads with Obama in 2016

November 6th, 2012 at 11:59 PM
Christie cant win, name me the last fat president
He’s been great on the national scene between the convention and everything that’s happened with Sandy. In reference to an earlier statement (too lazy to find it), he could be in trouble in NJ if Booker runs against him. But I’d think Booker waits another 4 years for the same reasons Christie decided to wait another 4 years to try for president. Booker is a force though and if they went head to head it would be a great show.
November 6th, 2012 at 11:59 PM
Big props to Team Obama. Getting that kind of turnout in this economic environment is impressive.

November 7th, 2012 at 12:07 AM

It’s crazy that if it wasn’t for a heavily Democrat leaning state hating their Democratic governor enough to go the other way for once, nobody would have Christie as a front runner for 2016 president. But that’s John Corzine for you.
November 7th, 2012 at 12:08 AM

Whoa whoa whoa, let’s back the election express up just a bit. The worst thing that people can do, including and especially President Obama, is look too far into these results. At the end of the day, as Matthew Dowd just pointed out on ABC, around 48-49% of the voting public just voted against the president.

Prop 30 was just for people making over $250k…I guess we have a lot of Joe the Plumbers.

November 7th, 2012 at 12:30 AM

November 7th, 2012 at 12:31 AM
Ryan won reelection in Wisconsin. So he at least has a job still. And Romney is still rich. They’ll land on their feet.

Disappointing refresh in the Bachmann race, went from 400 to 900
November 7th, 2012 at 12:59 AM
Much less booing from the crowd in this year’s GOP concession speech.
November 7th, 2012 at 12:59 AM
Arizona 1, 2, and 9 are all going down to the wire.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:01 AM
97% counted and Allen West still down around 1,000.

Michigan 1 is back and forth.

Why in the hell has CNN still not called Wisconsin Senate? I think they forgot it existed.

Typing from my phone earlier so my previous post came out strange – What I meant to say is I’ve got no problem showing up here. My guy lost, so be it. I was hard on Obama and his policies (and will continue to be) but I was never one of those slamming the polls or predicting a Romney win.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:07 AM
The people in that race are not even as interested in the outcome as you are.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:08 AM
Their loss for not televising the concession speech that wouldn’t end…he might still be speaking for all I know, they had to cut away from him to go to Romney

I saw a picture from the ballroom he was to give his speech in about 4 hours ago. There were maybe 2 dozen people there, I can’t imagine there being many left when he was actually speaking?
November 7th, 2012 at 1:18 AM
Well I’m just talking to myself at this point. Going to watch Obama brag a bit and then I’m heading to bed. See everyone around here tomorrow.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:18 AM
What’s up with Bachmann butters?

Lotta people (dems) blasting him for his speech, but as someone who didn’t vote for the guy, I thought it was fine. You could tell he put everything into that campaign for like 3 years and didn’t want to let go. Almost felt bad for the guy.
Then I realized he has like 5 houses. I’m sure he’ll live.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:20 AM
Paul Ryan is a little bag of dicks though.

Bachmann- 119,967

I love Anderson Cooper (No coop) but in what way is this a historic moment? He won a re-election?
November 7th, 2012 at 1:26 AM
The Fox guys touched on similar – that “we re-elected an African-American president” and “this election didn’t dwell on race”. Uh, sure.
/shrugs
Also, Mitt’s wife looked nice in that red dress.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:29 AM
Thanks butters
November 7th, 2012 at 1:30 AM
I had no idea what Michele Bachman’s husband looked like until just now. Wow.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:37 AM
have you heard him talk?
November 7th, 2012 at 1:38 AM
have you heard him talk?
nope.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:38 AM
lies. bullshit. that’s about all you did. you expect people to forget that now? you thought he would win all along and your boy got his ass handed to him.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:42 AM
Link? Surely you can back up your claim.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:45 AM
let me stop what i’m doing to go back 4-5 weeks to find all of your comments. right now. thats what your hoping for i’m sure, that no one will do that. because in the last four weeks, your comments were geared towards this being real close. riggght.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:50 AM
good job. good effort.
November 7th, 2012 at 1:52 AM
haha – riiiight, because that was obviously my legitimate prediction.
Keep trying kid.
November 7th, 2012 at 3:05 AM
Well, Jimmy Chitwood (as much as the movie version ruled) is kind of an idiot, as is MikeNYC.
And yes, I fully realize the beating I may, or really (since I’m by no stretch a reguler anymore) not take. I’ve made daily reading of the Roundup, usually later in the afternoon, and to think that you both (among others) weren’t either predicting or counting on a Romney win would be bullshit. And holy hell, am I enjoying this victory tremendously. On a related note, this is surprisingly competent typing for how many drinks I’ve had. Well done, me.
November 7th, 2012 at 3:39 AM
Yup, this was drunk. I feel like something of an asshole, but honestly, not really at all.
Barack 2012!
