Heisman 2012 Power Rankings: Week Ten
Collin Klein [Kansas State] Klein was putting in his typical performance before an injury felled him against Oklahoma State. He’s still the leader, though missing time with an injury could knock him and Kansas State out of the national spotlight. The Wildcats also have no marquee games left, with Texas the possible exception.
Kenjon Barner [Oregon] Barner needed a strong performance in a huge spot to climb. He gave one, posting 347 yards and five touchdowns on USC. He will play full games in at least three of the four remaining games. He will have national attention. Oregon should pass Kansas State. With some strong, flashy performances, Barner could pass Klein.
A.J. McCarron [Alabama] McCarron did not help himself, with the pedestrian performance against LSU. However, after leading Alabama on a late touchdown drive when it counted, he did not hurt himself. He still quarterbacks the nation’s best team. He still has not thrown an interception. Aaron Murray has not been consistent enough to dislodge him as the SEC candidate.
Manti Te’o [Notre Dame] The overtime Pitt win soured much of the voting public on Notre Dame. Despite that Te’o still has name value and a sympathetic story. He has made iconic plays when it counted. Unless Notre Dame’s defense gets dismantled by USC, it is hard to see him missing out on a trip to New York.
Johnny Manziel [Texas A&M] He’s not consistent enough of a passer, yet, to put up huge numbers on Alabama/LSU type defenses. That said, completing 83 percent of his passes, throwing for 300 yards and running for another 100 against a decent SEC opponent remains pretty damn awesome. He’s exciting. He racks up ridiculous numbers and that could be enough for him to sneak into the top five.

Barner. Everyone else a complete fraud.
November 6th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
After Braxton and OSU torch Michigan can he finally get into your top 5?
November 6th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…………..
November 6th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Johnny Manziel >>>> AJ McScreenpass
November 6th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
Here’s a dark-horse candidate for you.
November 6th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
speaking of Johnny Football … can we get rid of the Halloween scooby doo pic at the top. While quite impressive, it could be considered “offensive” by some of my coworkers.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:00 PM
I guess Minter or Clowney need a girlfriend or grandma to suck up and die for them to be considered top-tier candidates.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
why would Murray be the one to dislodge McCarron if Johnny Manziel actually makes your list here and Murry doesn’t?
November 6th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
You tell those coworkers to put their burqas back on and leave the rest of us alone.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
That’s a great nickname for him. And he does not belong in the top 5. Not even close.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:05 PM
Can we get a 2013 Heisman Watch?
Gardner, Manziel, Bray, Bridgewater, Clowney.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:08 PM
Aint no Duffy like a trolling Duffy.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:09 PM
Here’s a dark-horse candidate for you.
Nice get.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
Problem with Braxton
Ohio State – not playing any meaningful games, people not watching.
Even though running numbers have been great, a lot of dual-threat guys with far stronger passing performance.s
November 6th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
You tell those coworkers to put their burqas back on and leave the rest of us alone.
You don’t realize how close that is … replace burqas with saris.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:12 PM
Taylor Martinez if he can stop turning the ball over.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:12 PM
Tell those cunts to go die via African Painted Dog attack.
/I’ll wait to hear how it went
//Are they so into bestiality they see it everywhere?
////Brown dog considered inter-racial fraternizing?
November 6th, 2012 at 3:13 PM
also, carlos hyde taking a lot of the brunt of the rushing attack too…that’s braxton’s money attribute. the sharing’s great for braxton’s health but not so great for his heisman case.
oh well…there’s always next year.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:14 PM
She’s clothed… We’re not a den of iniquity like ESPN or SI…
November 6th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
As one who once labored in the trenches, I cannot consider the Heisman an award for the “best” player in football until linemen start winning it.
/ Still upset that Orlando Pace came in fourth in 1996 while Wuerffel won
November 6th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
Jacory Harris
November 6th, 2012 at 3:16 PM
And why, might I ask, not?
The Roundup Girl should be more like the Page 3 Girl in the UK.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
I have a fairly substantial wager on McCarron.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
In other words, scratch Tyler Martinez off the list?
November 6th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
Duffy is this your vote (if you had one), or what you feel how the nation is going to vote? As I am sure you are aware, the award goes to the “individual designated as the outstanding college football player in the United States.”
Not player on best team. Not on most TV games. Seems you’ve failed to recognize that.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:19 PM
Klein should not win because wearing that white shirt under his jersey makes him look like a pussy.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:19 PM
We’re not a den of iniquity like ESPN or SI
And the asia dude in the office next to me keeps talking about the erection results yet no one seems to mind.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
I think he is reflecting the history of heisman voters who tend to vote using Hernia’s “Sizzle Scale”.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
Erection results are in prematurely as the individual polled only tolerates him because he is different.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
obligatory.
/still laughing at “so he did a lot of things right here.”
November 6th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
dying.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
He also shouldn’t win because he never kissed his wife until he got married.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
Jay V how’d the Breeders Cup treat you? I saw you boldly put out your picks in that one post but am too lazy to audit them.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
And the asia dude in the office next to me keeps talking about the erection results yet no one seems to mind.
If Nate Silver’s predictions don’t go away in four hours, call a doctor.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
This was great.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
Well, America is getting royally screwed today, so he’s close.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Loved it.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
The Heisman winner should have to celebrate by doing the Dougie while accepting his trophy.
If he does Gangnam Style instead, his award gets Reggie Bush’d.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
Had a couple of nice hits. My compulsive need to bet on every race cost me, but the picks I felt strongest about did well.
November 6th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
McCarron isn’t the best player on his offense. He MIGHT be the 11th best player on his team. This is not a Heisman candidate. But, ESPN needs highlights, so they show highlights of McCarron not making a mistake or McCarron handing the ball off and suddenly he is a Heisman front runner.
/Slaps Head
November 6th, 2012 at 3:55 PM
fuck you Scripty for making me think of cookies all afternoon
November 6th, 2012 at 3:57 PM
Put him in the Geno Torretta wing of the Heisman hall.
/ Along with all those ND winners who won because they played at ND
November 6th, 2012 at 4:09 PM
Is Gino’s bust next to Detmer’s and Jason Whites?
Also Tim Brown was a legit stud though
November 6th, 2012 at 4:11 PM
Klein is just like Tebow. Awkward throwing motion, relies on his running ability. Neither of which will translate into success at the next level.
November 6th, 2012 at 4:12 PM
I dont know about that. McCarron is very efficient, Heisman material probably not, but if someone like Tommy Rees was behind center there he’d fuck it up greatly
November 6th, 2012 at 4:12 PM
we’re still making fun of tebow’s throwing motion?
November 6th, 2012 at 4:14 PM
I thought Manziel was overyhyped playing a lot of bad defenses (which he has), but man that dude is fun to watch. I’ve seen every A&M game because of that offense. I don’t think there’s a chance in hell he does anything substantial against Alabama, but if he gets close to 350 yards total offense against them with a couple TDs I would choose him or Klein with Barner 3rd and AJ Mccarron 78th
