Like I said before, she was pretty good and fun to play against. She was tiny too but pretty quick and very aggressive.
The coolest part was that she picked her football number, #6, because her family are all BYU fans and they love Luke Staley (BYU 2001 Doak Walker award winner) and he coached our offense. They were pretty excited to see him on our sidelines when we played them the first time. Luke is a very cool guy and talked to them for a bit after both games.

It is not safe. You are right. But our coaches do our best to make it as safe as it can be so that the kids that want to play can do so. It is a rough game but both of my boys play it because they want to. They get a lot of excercise and are taught a lot by thier coaches about a lot more than just football.
There are a lot of things that are worse and sounding off on football and ignoring all the others (I could name many things that we each do every day that are more risky) is lame.
My kids get a ton out of it, but yes, I do worry about thier safety so I make sure that they know the proper way to tackle by staying behind thier pads, not with helmets.

lol…wasnt calling you sandusky. was calling the metaphorical subject in the kiddie popsicle sucking metaphor sandusky. bad joke, whatevs.

all i was saying is shit happens on a football field. i saw quite a few bad injuries on fluke plays that you just can’t predict. granted, these are more soft tissue and bone injuries than concussions, but calling football safe, even without pads and tackling, aint exactly accurate.

When you don’t try to use the helmet as a weapon you have a lot less of a chance of getting hurt. These kids are taught to tackle correctly. When the helmet is used for protection and not as a weapon football is fun. The kids on our team and on her team all did a good job of this all year.

lets not suck their kiddie popsicles yet, sandusky…can’t prevent helmet to helmet in football. especially not when the helmet is roughly the size of their torsos.

When she is the best player and the best chance for them to win they’ll give her the ball 30 times for sure.
Again, she was a good player in the league. We beat them pretty easy both times, but she was the main thing we had to watch for.
The games against them were very fun and coached well. Very safe too because the kids are taught to tackle correctly, not helmet to helmet.

My kids team played her 2x this year. It is an 8-9 year old league in the Ute Conference league in Utah.
She was awesome. Great kid and very fun to play against. We beat them both times we played them but she scored 1x each game. They gave her the ball 90% of the time and she did a really good job on Offense and Defense. Sam carried the ball 30 times per game easy.
