Samantha Steele Thought a Job at ESPN Zone in Times Square Would Help Her Get a Job at ESPN … and it Actually Worked
Samantha Steele, the new Erin Andrews, who also happens to be dating an NFL QB, was profiled by the Sun-Sentinel, and told of the story how she got to ESPN. At 18, she moved to New York:
“So I went to the ESPN Zone in Times Square and applied to be a hostess,” she said. “This was my thought process, this is how naïve I was. I thought there would be ESPN people coming in there because it’s the ESPN Zone.”
… Just two months into seating customers in midtown Manhattan, she met someone with ABC Sports Radio. Her admittedly half-baked idea actually worked and soon Steele was an intern at the network. That led to a researcher-assistant job with ABC-TV on the college football studio show.
Don’t try this at home, kids. [Sun-Sentinel]

I’m sure being able to speak in complete sentences while at the same time being very pretty and interested in sports had nothing to do with it.

Exactly. No one is going to let her starve in the streets. Genetic gifts aside, still a very bold move.

If I go to a restaurant and the hostess is ugly I am immediately assuming the food sucks. A hot hostess doesnt guarantee you a good meal but it’s a sign they aren’t complete sling blades running the show.

After watching last nites Walkind Dead, I need to remind myself that it is great or even good TV. I just like seeing zombies kill people, but the writing on that show is hilariously awful.

Dead serious. The only exception is if its some older woman who knows the entire menu verbatim and can break down the meals. How many places even have ugly hostesses?

My gauge is the Congressional Record. Read how speeches were given in Congress 150 years ago and then watch C-SPAN now….awful.

So many hot, blonde, twenty-somethings who are poor and homeless these days. Tragedy.

Full disclosure, when the Senate did a 72 hour filibuster 8 years ago I watched almost all of it, except when I was asleep or in class.

There was a Bishop in Green Bay who told the church that if you didnt vote for Romney, your soul was at risk.

“Bishop David Ricken of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay is urging parishioners to vote against candidates who support abortion or gay marriage.
Ricken recently sent parishioners a letter saying voting for candidates who support what he called “intrinsically evil” positions could “put your own soul in jeopardy.”
Ricken’s letter said the Catholic Church has a responsibility to speak out on moral issues.
Issues parishioners should keep in mind when voting, the bishop added, also include euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, and human cloning.”
November 5th, 2012 at 5:18 PM
Wait–she did what she thought necessary to get an intern job, and that’s bad? She could have written posts here 20 hours after every other blog wrote them, and not been paid as an intern, and that would be OK?
November 5th, 2012 at 5:19 PM
Ricken’s letter said the Catholic Church has a responsibility to attempt to scare people into agreeing with them.
Let’s be real here.
November 5th, 2012 at 5:19 PM
the better, more moral message would be to not vote for either of these candidates who both have views contradictory to what the Roman Catholic church teaches.
November 5th, 2012 at 5:26 PM
I know, the religious nuts in this country drive me nuts.
They pick and choose what to agree with.
Abortion bad.
Send people into war good.
Stem cell research bad.
Capital Punishment good.
Contraception bad.
Poor people with no government help good.
November 5th, 2012 at 5:30 PM
my dad doesn’t preach any politics in church. All he says is to pray about the vote and make the best decision according to your beliefs. If churches (and vocal christians in the media) just did it that way, they wouldn’t get so much crap from people.
November 5th, 2012 at 5:32 PM
This times 1000!
My dad and I were talking this weekend about politics in church and we both agreed that nothing more than “ote for what you believe” should be said.
November 5th, 2012 at 5:36 PM
i also wish more people could hear what he said regarding homosexuality a few weeks ago. He basically said that no matter if you believe it’s by nature or by choice, you still don’t have the right (and you’re violating biblical principles) to shun a person or treat them badly because of their sexual orientation.

For two months, Steele was the hostess with the mostess.
With the most “what”?? She is a 32B, tops.
After two months at age 18 she got noticed. Does she have a 4-year degree, much less a journalism degree?? But then, why waste your time and money on a journalism degree if you WANT to work for ESPN.
Just the fact that she wanted to work at ESPN loses all credibility with me. She did an interview with Nick Saban and spent five minutes asking him if he thinks he looks like the ESPN studio guy.
November 13th, 2012 at 12:21 PM
Who else is tired of this little camera sluts that only use their looks to get jobs and to slut it up for the “players”. There should be rules just like with the cheerleaders that reporters can’t fraternize with any of the players (both on and off the job). Reporters should maybe have to sign contracts that they cannot in any way fraternize and or date any players on or off the job and if they are caught with a player no matter on the job, off the job, it comes out in public that they are “dating” or with a player they are then immediately FIRED for fraternizing with players. Then the problem would be getting solved, with these sluts knowing that they have to have talent, experience just like any other job seeker and “looks” are like 1 or 2 % of the criteria and 98% based on education and experience.
November 13th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Also female reports should be banned from in locker room interviews until the players are all dressed and walking out or if like so many women throw their temper tantrums and say that’s all UNFAIR!! If female reporters throw their temper tantrums then male reporters should have every right to go into female locker rooms while they are in their underwear and bras and interview them.
