LOTS of owners still feel like Stern gave in way too easily on last year’s negotiation. Don’t be surprised if we see another lockout at end of current CBA. Lot of owners were perfectly fine with cancelling the whole season in order to get the exact deal they wanted. Stern pushed it through as it was going to be his final CBA negotiation.

The owners blew it. How could they not get a hard cap, franchise tag, and a reasonable reformed pay structure?

Yeah, Big time soccer players that play in Europe are the closest comparison you can make to NBA players. Some of the Brazilian soccer players are so damn irresponsible with their money and health.

Players and owners can argue about the validity of that claim all they want, but one thing is for certain, LOTS of owners still feel like Stern gave in way too easily on last year's negotiation. Don't be surprised if we see another lockout at end of current CBA. Lot of owners were perfectly fine with cancelling the whole season in order to get the exact deal they wanted. Stern pushed it through as it was going to be his final CBA negotiation.

i think it’s cultural in regards to the sport. guaranteed oversized contracts lead to excess. NFL’ers who are conditioned to not leave proverbial bullets in the chamber spend like they’re dead when they’re retired.
