The Redskins rank 7th in points per game, 2nd in rushing yards, and 6th in total yards.
They have a rookie, 6th round RB, and a rookie QB throwing to the following “weapons”: Santana Moss, Josh Morgan, and Leonard Hankerson.

The Skins run a gimmicky offense centered around a gifted QB that covers up alot of holes. Their WR’s stink, their offensive line stinks, and their rookie running back is slow. The threat of RGIII is what makes this all work, not any Mike Shanahan genius. If you still don’t get that, just check out Warrick Dunn and the rest of the Falcon’s rushing numbers Vick’s last year in Atlanta, and the next year.

Mike Shanahan, the Redskins coach whose reputation was built on the arm of John Elway and the legs of Terrell Davis, hasn’t had the best 2.5 years in Washington.

as stated above, this is not even close to being true. See: Niners OC, Denver HC, and the present. has it been a rough couple years in DC? sure, but look what he inherited from Vinny Cerrato and the collection of previous coaches. the team had the oldest roster in the league for like 6 years straight, put retired Portis and some unknowns at RB and started Grossman, Beck and JC under center. seems a bit unfair to blame the 5-11 and 6-10 solely on Shanny. on top of that, the division is not a cake walk.

What’s mind-boggling is to posit that the Redskins are in better shape for the next decade than the Giants. (And if you’ve been reading me for six years, you know I’m a Jets fan.) Eli Manning has two rings and is the most clutch QB in the NFL. Receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz – what NFL teams has two better receivers under 25? Jason Pierre Paul is already one of the five best defensive ends in the league. The Giants – as much as it pains me to say it – have the best GM in the NFL right now in Jerry Reese, who seems to be batting 1.000 in free agency and the draft over the last few years.

why? how old is Eli going to be in 10 years? how many top-tier DEs have the Giants had in recent years? how volatile are WRs these days? how many times has Coughlin been on the hotseat in the last 10 years? it’s as dumb for Shefter to predict out 10 years as it is for you to say he’s absolutely wrong and use that criteria.

RG3 has played eight games. Eight!

albeit an amazing eight game stretch, huh. what would everyone be saying if his offensive numbers were awful thru the same number of games? methinks it wouldn’t be the positive spin, “he’s adjusting to the speed of the game. give him time.”give credit where it’s due, please.

Tremendous. My problem with Shanahan is when he took out a late round tailback in the final game the season in Denver who was playing well so as not to hit his contract incentive and cost the owner more money.

Read an interesting article this week about an interesting trend: when the Redskins win a home game the weekend before a presidential election, the White House incumbent wins. If the Redskins lose, the incumbent loses. I think there has been once exception since the 1960s.

How can Washington be in great position when they have no first round picks for two years and their management has continually struck out on free agents and the drafts they’ve had? Let’s not forget they’re losing money next year for that cap fiasco.

With Snyder they’re always in bad shape. It’s too bad RG3 will never get the receiving weapons he deserves.
