Lakers: 0-2 in the Regular Season, 0-8 in the Preseason, Last Won a Basketball Game on May 18
May 18th. Lakers 99, Thunder 96. It was game three of the Western Conference semifinals. The win drew the Lakers within 2-1 of Oklahoma City, but then LA lost the final two games and everyone spent the next few months wondering if it was time to break up the core. Then the Lakers acquired Steve Nash in July and traded Andrew Bynum and received Dwight Howard. They struggled through the meaningless preseason winless – Howard wasn’t 100 percent and barely played – with Kobe chirping about torching “that motherfucker” in practice, and Dwight Howard being Dwight Howard.
On opening night, they were stunned by the lottery-bound* Mavericks, 99-91. Dwight Howard missed 11 of 14 free throws. Steve Nash wasn’t crossing people up; he looked confused about his role. In game two, Nash got injured and the Lakers were pounded in Portland by a rookie point guard.
That’s 12 losses in a row. The Avengers, so far, they are not.
* Due to summer posts on the Mavericks, and immense disagreement from some commenters, I will now refer to the Mavericks as “lottery-bound” throughout the season.

Steve Nash is garbage and frail. Kobe can still kick it. But Dwight Howard is overrated and Pau don’t care.

Outstanding. It is like TBL found a honeyhole and any bait he throws in is going to catch fish.

They’ll be fine once Brown gets shit-canned. Or demoted to defensive assistant.

“Shut it down”?
“Now, cut that out”.

I would argue that they are indeed The Avengers (movie).
Massively overrated and outside of a couple of good characters…just a dumpster fire.

I think that’s fine. If they make the playoffs, they’re barely making the playoffs. And they barely made the playoffs last year.

I see…they looked decent. Might want to hedge when Dirk gets back.

Thats actually pretty accurate. You just forgot that Mike Brown is a dumbass.

Terrible defense
No bench
Lots of turnovers
Pau-Howard combo doesn’t really work well together
They would have been better off getting a guy like Lowry for the point. I know this would never happen, but I’d move Pau to the bench and play him 30-36 minutes a night, with half of those minutes coming against the opponents bench.

Brought his FT% up to 55%, which was no easy task.

More importantly who are these Fox Sports Detroit girls? Not too shabby…we’re stuck with the likes of Bob Lorenz in NYC.

MLB sucks. The ratings prove it

It is certainly possible they miss the playoffs (though Vegas thinks they will), especially in the west. But, I would still love to bet you that they win over 28 games this year.

I will always love my main man D Howard, he wants to win a title & that wasnt happening in Orlando w all the shitty contracts Otis Smith handed out

Wow, did not expect Howard to infect the Lakers with his losing ways this quickly.

Can’t argue that, but I like this Utah team. Lots and lots of size. Pretty intriguing…it amazes me (I mean irritates me), that Utah can totally overhaul their roster and remain relevant despite their current good players always looking to bolt and most of the basketball free world NOT wanting to play there whereas the Knicks are still unable to compile a competent roster with pieces that fit for over a decade now…

D Ho is playing hurt. Steve Nash is old and done.

An injured big man and an old/done PG? This your area of expertise?

Oh no! The Lakers have lost two regular season games in what can only be described as the most meaningless regular season in all of the major sports.
