Aqib Talib Traded to the Patriots, as They Gamble on Suspended Corner to Help Leaky Secondary
Aqib Talib, the former first round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has been traded to the New England Patriots, no compensation details announced. You can be sure that it is minimal, though, since Talib is currently serving part of a four game suspension, and is a free agent at year’s end.
The Patriots, for their part, show they are willing to take a chance on a character risk. . . at the right price. We saw it last year with Albert Haynesworth. The Patriots hope to hit it bigger here. The secondary has been surrendering some big pass plays in recent weeks, so it is a need if he can get on the field.

Obligatory anytime Albert Haynesworth is mentioned.

Dang, they could have traded for Joe McKnight and stuck him in the secondary.
Wait, you mean that plan didn’t work in New York?

Aqib means subsequent as in the sentence: Aqib’s aqib charges are hurting his free agency prospects.

They cut AFC Championship game hero Sterling Moore–he who knocked the go ahead TD pass out of Torrey Smith’s hands–in order to make room.

It was Lee Evans that had the pass knocked out of his hands. That was a good heads up play, but Moore is not a good CB.

The Pats have had both bad decisions at corner and bad luck with injuries and it has compounded over the last 4-5 years. Few years ago two of their top 3 CBs went out in the preseason.

It’s an even bigger need if he can’t.
And re: Moore, if he played one more game he had no PS eligibility. Dunno if he’s claimed or not yet.

Dammit, you’re right. Jim Nance got it wrong at first too.
He was great in college but yeah his skills translate into a nickle DB at best in the NFL.

remember all that crowing you were doing a couple of years ago about trading their 3rd rounder for so the Panthers could waste a pick on Armanti Edwards? And you were all the time saying how great it was, and how stupid the Panthers were, because it ended up being the 33rd pick in the draft?
Well, Ras-I Dowling is the asshole they got. And so far, he’s not worth a good god damn. And I just remembered that, and am once again laughing at you about your patriot based arrogance from when you were a more arrogant commenter.

has nothing to do with this aside from both being CB’s, but brandon browner is a damn good CB.

Have you even watched the Bucs play this year? 3-4 and looking good in each game, with all losses by 7 points or less. Josh Freeman has 14 tds to 5 picks with a 93.3 QB rating and Doug Martin just won NFL Rookie of the Month. You sound ignorant. And they have won a Super Bowl more recently than the Cowboys, Jets, Ravens, Falcons, Broncos, and many other “Good” organizations.
