“Gobble Gobble Turkey:” Jim Harbaugh Calls Someone a Jive Turkey to Defend Alex Smith
Alex Smith had the game manager-ing-y-er-est game ever last night as the 49ers beat the Cardinals, 24-3, in Arizona. Smith completed 18 of 19 passes for 232Â yards and 3 touchdowns. After the game, Niners coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about Smith’s confidence issues. His answer was for the birds.
Reporter: “You think this performance tonight put any confidence issues to rest?”
Jim Harbaugh: “I don’t think there was ever a question there. I think its just a lot of gobble gobble turkey. You know?”
Reporter: “What is gobble gobble turkey?”
Jim Harbaugh: “Just gobble, gobble, gobble turkey from jive turkey gobblers. You know. It paints a pretty good picture. He’s a very confident guy.”
Did Jim Harbaugh just call me a jive turkey? That’s not cool so close to Thanksgiving. I hope that this – the latest in a long line of Harbaugh insanity – catches on. “Turkey Jim Harbaugh” could have some legs. I wonder if he recently watched Thankskilling?

I have not heard the expression “jive turkey” since 1975, when my junior high football coach used it to joke about another player. That expression was actually in vogue then.

The ESPN headline about the game was “In Good Hands” and while it was referring to Crabtree I bet there’s a web editor there who knows about Baby Hands.
