I’d be more concerned about Houston, who just committed one of the cardinal sins of the salary-cap-era NBA: never pay superstar money for anyone who isn’t a superstar. Harden is really good and he’s really popular, but he’s never been the guy. The Rockets, by virtue of their youth and of the massive deal he’ll sign soon, are now his — not Lin’s. Whether it’s Scottie Pippen in Portland or Joe Johnson in Atlanta, history shows this play doesn’t work out.

Bottom line, if OKC wins a title, it was and still will be on Durant and Westbrook going HAM and not relying on this 3rd wheel.

Also, HOU doesnt even have Harden under contract. I presume there is a backroom agreement in place but if they dont re-sign him this is the worst trade of all time.

Me too. Harden might be a max player in a theoretical sense (i.e. for a team like Houston), but not for OKC right now.

Houston’s backcourt is suddenly attractive: Jeremy Lin and James Harden. I wouldn’t be surprised if Harden finished in the top five in the NBA in scoring this season. The Rockets are young and don’t have much scoring inside.

Nah, Lin really isn’t much more than a ticket seller at this point. Team’s are quickly figuring him out and how to turn him over. Young team, needs veterans and will spend a lot of this season trying to find an identity. Plus look at the top 5 scoring leaders from last year, all had a good supporting cast, and i dont see that for Harden with the current Rockets.

This team was built around trying to get Howard not Harden, I bet they’ll still be making moves.
