The Lions offense is disgusting. Lion fans trying to throw Calvin under the bus for one drop and defending Matt Stafford makes me sick. 3 turnovers in the redzone and awful play calling. Fire Linehan and cut Stephan Logan now.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:26 AM
The fantasy slut league is absolutely brilliant.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:27 AM
Jessica Simpson’s got some strong legs
spencer…. something something… strong for plow….
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:29 AM
Guy Pierce is awesome. Was Iron Man 2 any good? And that’s what you get Tony Stark for building a fucking house on the edge of a cliff you arrogant ass.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:29 AM
I don’t drink that shit, and I definitely wouldn’t allow my kids to either.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:29 AM
Watching that Allison Brie/Gillian Jacobs video is a great way to wake up.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:31 AM
I swear that was a plot line on some tv show like L&O SVU or something like that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:32 AM
I’ve never forgiven him for what he did to Edmond Dantes.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Its OK. Has all the bad characteristics of a comic book movie sequel, but its still entertaining and Downey brings the thunder.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Ashley Benson is a great call for the roundup
/ been keeping tabs on her since the last bring it on movie
// creep’d
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:33 AM
FWIW:
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Killington Ski Lift to be Powered by Cow Poop
There was a dirty jobs episode like 5 years ago. Some dairy farm in CT powered his own farm by trapping all the biogas.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:35 AM
not bad, i guess i’ll go see it. mickey rourke isn’t in this one so it should be good.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:35 AM
*picks up grenade, puts pin back in it*
that’s nice, queefer. now, run along and play with your friends.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:35 AM
I thought we all agreed the debtae/political chatter was going to be funneled into that hockey lockout post?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:36 AM
Not sure who she is, have to google.
She’s beefy. It’s long way from Dukes of Hazzard To be fair, she’s been pregnant, had a kid and is adjusting to life as a mom.
/Needs more PX90
//Think her publicist would be all over this?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:36 AM
I just read that she is dating James Franco. Eww.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:36 AM
I can never decide if Emily Van Camp is hot or cute. Wifey watches Revenge religiously and sometimes she looks OK and then she throws a dress on an looks incredible. Dunno.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
Really? He’s always been tough and a gamer. If the Lions don’t turn over the ball 3 times in the RZ and Hillbilly plays well. Cutler probably gets bashed if the Lions win.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
That garbage TD with :30 left to cover the spread helped me complete a perfect week (0-13) in the ATS Pick Em league I’m in.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
What is hockey?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Because that’s what the world needs, another egotistical, blowhard, asshat hosting his own show. Douche is not a strong enough description of that guy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:38 AM
She stuffed her face while she was pregnant. She said she didn’t care. Now she is whining about her weight. When you have the money to have chefs and just work out all the time I don’t feel sorry for you.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:39 AM
There’s a massive, unwarranted perception that Cutler is soft. So for him not to leave after that hit played against the false media narrative, which means he’s now tough.
And the Lions are the Lions. They did turn the ball over.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:39 AM
who’s the pudgy raccoon?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:39 AM
Not a fucking thing.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
Wow. I honestly forgot how hot she was at one point now that she’s turned into the modern day Kirstie Alley.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
I’ve never forgiven him for what he did to Edmond Dantes.
Very true, but Edmond Dantes got such sweet revenge.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
so what? she’s got thick legs. i don’t think they look bad at all.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Highly disappointed no one was impaled.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
The fact media and other players questioned it in the first place is pretty dumb. Guy gets killed behind that line. Looking forward to Bears-Packers as it will probably be for the rights to the division.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Im with you on this. No wealthy celebrity should ever be overweight for a long period of time. Its a thousand times easier to work out on a day off or weekend. I cant imagine how in shape I’d be if I had personal chefs and trainers at my disposal.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:42 AM
I thought everybody did this, anal was 5 points. Called it a “Hero League” because you want a positive connotation, calling girls who put out ‘sluts’ is just counter-productive and Christian.
Danger Zone! Finally got Archer on Netflix, great show but I cannot recommend drinking two gallons of Mama-juana.
/Cheers mole

They attended the Jim Delaney seminar on operating a football powerhouse conference.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:43 AM
but he was great as Edmund Exley.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:43 AM
agreed…great trailer. too bad the movie will probably be a bigger steaming pile than the 2nd one.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:45 AM
I thought it was the golf post. Too confusing. Let’s just make it all politics, all the time.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:45 AM
Sure mattered a lot when Romney kicked Obama’s ass by that much in the first one…
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:45 AM
Oh man that was on this weekend. Russell Crowe, yummm.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:45 AM
I cant imagine how in shape I’d be if I had personal chefs and trainers at my disposal
Yes. Been running and eating minimally few months. Done great so far but gah good food is expensive, even in small amounts.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Ray Stevenson is killing it on Dexter this season.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:46 AM
but he was great as Edmund Exley.
He was also great as Leonard Shelby.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:47 AM

October 23rd, 2012 at 8:47 AM
Simpson and pudgy raccoon can get it
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:47 AM
obligatory.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:48 AM
they better not fuck up the Mandarin. He’s a complete badass
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:48 AM
That show has dragged since Lithgow but I do agree with what you said about Stevenson. And I’ve heard he will be on the show next season as well.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:48 AM
how about we bring the politics to the next post? I’m all for a friendly debate, but no need to ruin the roundup when no violent deaths where linked.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Titus Pullo is the man.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:49 AM
In exchange for Cleveland losing LeBron the nation has decided to let Ohio decide the Presidential Election?

October 23rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Big meeting at 9. You guys can take it from here.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
That was such a great movie. It strayed a little from the book at the end but they captured the mood of it perfectly. Russell Crowe played the meathead cop perfectly.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
I don’t see how that will be possible unless Issac comes to some sort of an agreement with Dexter to kill for him. Which seems highly unlikely.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Iron Man 3 trailer is badass. I like that they didn’t give a money shot of Iron Man being awesome and really just focused on how his whole world is turning to shit.
Felt Obama won the third debate. Handily. It was roughly a polar opposite of how I felt about the first debate.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Roundup seems to be the best place for politics, dontcha think?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:51 AM
My guess is that you’ll have trouble finding one person who watched it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Waiting for the “Obama will take your bayonets” ad in PA. Bass Pro will be PACKED SON!
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
pipe lick, or whatever they called the hockey post.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
someone’s got their priorities mixed up…
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
Funny how the debates have turned. Romney seems to be playing kill the clock while Obama appears to be playing offense, as if he’s behind.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
I can’t wait for those riots.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
Absolutely not. Put that shit elsewhere.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
Way too sober to extol Keynes, Gramsci and Marx all the time so in lieu of a time machine and 17 drinks I’d just like to say that I bet Jessica Simpsons farts like a 21 gun salute all night and is ignorant in all things hygiene.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Anybody else feel like Boardwalk Empire has ran its course? I think I’m done with it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
I think that’s one way it could play out. I could also see Issac trying to kill Dexter and end up being unsuccessful so instead he kills Deb at the end of this season or very beginning of next year and thus Dexter goes after him. Dexter kills him, get’s caught and goes to jail for the rest of his life for killing Deb’s killer.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Not yet, but it’s slowing down. It needs more Gyp.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:55 AM
obama typically takes the offensive when it comes to foreign affairs…tho the feeds from drones aren’t televised in front of a national audience.
/tho it’d be sweet if they were
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:55 AM
Not a smart strategy. Obama had to do that because he could afford to appear “off” again. Plus, it was easier to go on offense since he has, you know, a record.
Regardless of what Romney was trying to do, to me, it doesn’t seem smart to look uninformed and slapped around in the last national public TV appearance you’ll make before the election.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:56 AM
im all in, but wouldn’t mind if they did something, ya know, active.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:56 AM
Next week should be better with Gyp in it. But seriously, don’t you love more airtime for the children, Margie S, Billy Kent and birth control?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:56 AM
I think it needs Richard Harrow to go on a killing spree or something. It is just dragging on now.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Not on a 1/3 sports blog it didn’t.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Romney missed a golden opportunity to suggest that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
I watch BE because I feel like I should, not because I love it. It has all the elements of shows I love — strong acting, serialization, interesting time period and subject matter, violence, titties — but it never adds up to the sum of its parts.
Hell, it’s probably the third-best show on Sunday nights anymore after Treme and Homeland.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Are those chips marked/identifiable in any way, in case later on they show on a casino floor? If they are, not sure how he would make money off of this. If they are NOT marked, I guess he could sell them to others in Vegas or on eBay.
/the man is poorly dressed in the camera photo
//not like the Oceans Eleven crew
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:58 AM
*to more than the sum of its parts, that should read.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:58 AM
i dunno, i thought he handled himself relatively well despite being at a massive disadvantage.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
If only there were websites dedicated to news and politics….
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Richard is such a criminally underused character on that show it is infuriating.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
I’m sticking with it through this season, but I have no idea where they are going with some of the plot lines.
And Jimmy’s mom and Jimmy’s doppelganger? Gross.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
People whining about roundup political talk on a site that covers literally everything are the best.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Brilliant at moments, infuriating at moments, overall, mediocre now.
I stopped watching Treme when I stopped hanging out with guys that do coke.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
BE shouldn’t have killed jimmy. what the hell were they thinking?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I guess we’ll see in two weeks.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Ha ha, yeah, that is exactly what sucks the life out of the show. I’ve been skipping past all of that as best as I can. I did like Margaret’s storyline, but all this hospital crap is boring.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 AM
i’m liking the season so far, nice now that the writers have an end game.
it does seem to be moving fast with the Isaac storyline so i’m wondering how it plays out. Deb seems to accept his lifestyle, to a degree, so i don’t think the writers will have taken all this time to build this up only to have her killed off. the bay harbor butcher seems to be the storyline that plays out to the end of the series.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I would presume she’s using him to get him to pose as Jimmy and sign the house over to her, then Luciano will kill him.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Iron Man 3 trailer looks great. Just hope it is not as disappointing as Dark Knight Rises or even worse, Spiderman 3
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:01 AM
i was done after the fed killed the guy in the river in season one.
that show makes for a fantastic trailer, but ultimately doesn’t live up to the hype.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:01 AM
Looking Forward Not Back
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:01 AM
My opinion is that the Obama camp screwed up royally by attempting to paint Romney as a heartless, out of touch, non-presidential candidate prior to the first debate. That backfired miserably. The second two debates have done nothing to take away the perception that Romney could serve as president. Not saying he’ll win, but he’s got a much better chance because of the debates, which most folks on here said didn’t matter.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:02 AM
THAT’S FUCKING BRILLIANT.
i was assuming something along the fraud lines…but that dude aint foolin anyone that matters.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:02 AM
I hope Issac just kills LaGuerta. Deb’s looking pretty hot lately. I go back and forth with her. But she looks good this season.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Not yet, but it’s slowing down. It needs more Gyp.
no, it doesn’t. He’s a cartoon character.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
I hate to interupt the daily deep topics of the roundup such as but not limited to: nerds ragging on some celebrity chick who wouldn’t even piss your way if you were on fire, what you’re going to eat for lunch, your favorite barbecue sauce, talking about some second rate t.v. show like it’s the televised version of Shakespeare……..Never mind, I don’t hate interrupting after all. Romney’s people want to appear as if they are in kill the clock mode because 1)he wants to move to the center. 2) He isn’t equipped to argue Foreign policy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
more gyp, less sicilian stereotype caricatures and erotic asphyxiation.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
The Fed guy is another one who is criminally underused. I would like to see him enter into the mob life and return to Atlantic City.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Yeah no doubt she will. That’s some BS if they fall for that though. Margaret better get naked with her hijacking all these lame scenes.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Rory McIlroy is rumored to be about to sign with Nike for $250 million for 10 years.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
People that somehow feel the need to enlighten (bore) others with their one-sided opinions are better.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Thats more like it
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:05 AM
and still sporting the over-sized sweaters to conceal her gut I see.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Really? I see it in the opposite. The one thing Dexter feared, outside of being caught was his sister finding out who he was. Now she had and at first she was horrified, now she’s sort of accepted it, only to end up being killed.
It certainly seems like the Bay Harbor Butcher stuff is at least right now being set up as what may carry over until the end. I wonder if Dexter is going to have to get rid of Laguerta before she get’s any further. Which I wouldn’t be opposed to since I can’t stand her.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:06 AM
+1
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:06 AM
Hot and loose with the word “covers” there I see.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:06 AM
oh don’t lie, darrell. we all know deep down you have the etiquette of a plutocrat debutante.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:07 AM
WHOA. move’s been expected since like 2010, but that figure…holy shit.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:09 AM
that’s too neat, i think. I’m still up in the air what would happen to dexter at series end. is he caught? is he killed? does he end up seemingly free and on the run? does he get off totally scott free and live without killing?
i think we’re more likely to see him riding off on “the slice of life” as the screen fades to black with the same season end credit music they’ve played for every season.
and i’d be Ok with that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:09 AM
i just don’t see how rory, even as good as he is, is worth that figure. with tiger, nike built an entire golf division off of him that wasn’t there before. i cant imagine people saying “oh rory plays nike now, well im gonna too” if they didn’t for tiger.
maybe they’re going for the younger crowd…hope tehy don’t change too much. i fucking love nike’s current lineup.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:09 AM
I’ve yet to see the difficulty that comes from skipping over a comment. I’ve never watched a single episode of Boardwalk Empire, for example, so when I see the dozen or so comments about BE today, I go to the next comment. It’s really quite easy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:10 AM
I stopped watching Dexter after season three. Couldn’t stand his sister anymore. Probably the least talented actress on television.
How did Colin Hanks and Pockmark McLatino die last season? Did Mos Def die?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:10 AM
more gyp, less sicilian stereotype caricatures
but then how am I going to learn how to make a nice red gravy?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:12 AM
all of these debates have shown pros and cons of both these guys, but last night, obama looked like a massive condescending prick. an absolute child. he didnt need to go that route to whip romney.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Out of curiousity what presidential challenger is equipped to argue Foreign policy? A retired general? It has to be a tough position to be in.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:12 AM
I can’t see that. Dexter seems to have made it pretty clear that he can’t control his “Dark Passenger”. I think he either ends up dead or in jail. That said, if he ended up just walking away from it, I wouldn’t hate it because I like Dexter but I would consider that a bit of a cheap ending.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Yeah Spencer that is Tiger-like money.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Also quite easy: Finding a website where a majority of people give a shit what you think about politics.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Honestly, I think his sister has gotten a lot more tolerable over the last few years but for the first couple of seasons I wanted her gone. She was absolutely useless.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Best moment of the season so far? Louis taking a bullet to the head.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
To be fair…this is an awesome topic. Ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss, mayo and mustard? divine.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
i think that’s a bit too predictable though. shocking, yes, since you don’t expect Deb to die in the series.
i’ve always seen the series being about dexter trying to have it all, keep killing, have a family, live happily ever after. he’s already lost rita, and i think deb’s death would be devastating, but i think doing it before the end of this season would be a disservice to the story.
if they do it, i think the villain would have to be trinity-level where dexter has to go into full on rage mode to catch and take more than just a handful of episodes to do.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Isn’t Nike going to have to design a Rory logo, just like the “TW” one they already have for Tiger, ,or will he just rock the swoosh?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
…. maybe a Congressman, what with the whole “power to declare war” thing?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM
How many movie/tv shows are they going to let this guy ruin? He made Hitchhiker’s Guide barely watchable!
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM
Pick one, bro.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM
How was this amazing GIF not a post at this newly GIF-happy website?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM
Maybe so, but when I’m feeling really rebellious, I tap on my drinking glass with a soup spoon when breaking into someone’s conversation.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:16 AM
He nailed Ford. Come on.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Agreed, mayo AND mustard? Nasty. And get some onions on there pronto.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Because it’s from SBN and they can’t figure out how to scrub the watermark.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Not sure if this means what you intended it to.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Bullshit. Mayo and a nice mustard mix perfectly, especially if it’s a spiced mustard that has a grainier consistency, the mayo blends with it to make more of a sauce. Fucking sandwich amateurs.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:17 AM
I agree Kaiser that killing Deb might not be the best thing for the story, and I do think at this point it’s a bit predictable so I hope that’s not what happens but at this point that is what I am thinking is happening. Which hopefully means I am wrong.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Stop right there. Nobody fucking cares.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Whatever, Jenn Brown has a five-head and I need to inform the masses of this
George Lucas has to be kicking himself that he wasn’t able to cast Teddy as Young Vader back in the day
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Dan Shulman is staying at ESPN.
One of the few on-air personalities I enjoy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:19 AM
That’s not nice.

I don’t see what’s wrong with that. I would choose Srircha over mustard though. French fried onions are pretty good on sammiches too.

Someone on the site here would have had to have been watching baseball.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Your face is a sandwich amateur. Mayo is hideous when mixed with another condiment, it’s exactly why Wendy’s burgers are atrocious.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:20 AM
I’m not sure anyone was watching baseball. That was cool.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:20 AM
I think Romney looks like a guy that will need to have cyberterrorism explained to him if he wins.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:21 AM
well, i never said he’d be in control of his dark passenger boating off into the sunset at series end. but I think he lives and he doesn’t go to prison.
i don’t see him dying only because he’s proven that he’ll risk his life for someone he loves, that’s not a great character evolution to throw into the end of the series.
i could see him going to prison, b/c he’s considered life if he turns himself in for a while in the series, he always changes his mind or finds a way out of it. so a self sacrifice to go to prison if he can save Deb’s life or career is plausible… but i don’t see how ending the series with him waiting death row is a good ending.
could i see him being caught but Miami metro not having enough to arrest him, and thus being released the same way his victims are would be ironic and an interesting twist at the end.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Hated how they went for the HOllywood ending in the movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Maybe I need to reconsider but it felt like stunt casting. Sam Rockwell owned it as Zaphod though.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:22 AM
You could have just stopped there. Mayo is awful.

October 23rd, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Romney either failed to exhibit depth in foreign policy knowledge and experience, or an unwillingness to engage on his philosophy. Foreign policy isn’t going to have much of an effect on this election, I don’t think. But, his record is out there, and he placed himself into a situation where he looked more like a salesman trying to close a deal than a statesman looking to run this country. He didn’t help himself last night.

October 23rd, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Mayo is tolerable only when mixed with mustard, other than one or two exceptions.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:27 AM
I just thought of that possible ending during this discussion. I would be all for that. Especially if it ends with some guy in a dark room holding up a newspaper of Dexter being released, alluding to that guy becoming the next “Dexter” so to speak now that Dexter has become what he’s always sought to destroy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Very true, but Edmond Dantes got such sweet revenge.
Hated how they went for the HOllywood ending in the movie.
As long as you hadn’t read the book I think the Hollywood ending was pretty satisfying.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Not sure I agree with the author on who “won” the debate, but the points he make are valid and echo your sentiments.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:27 AM
I can’t be the only one that thought he was going to do more in the series. Seemed kind of a waste of time to set him up like they did only to kill him off so effortlessly.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Seconded
I hope to see it soon. It was made by the same guy that did In Bruges. Which was very good.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Order them without mayo
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Saw it this weekend. I liked it. It’s a dark comedy if there ever was one but I enjoyed it a lot. Rockwell killed it. C.F and Walken were both very good. Walken extremely so. My wife didn’t really love it, too much blood and gore for her but overall it was worth it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:29 AM
disagree…pesto, chipotle, sriracha and ancho are all great flavors to spice up mayo.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:29 AM
This.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:29 AM
You can’t have a BLT without Mayo. Mustard is king, especially Colmans, but Mayo does have its place.

i will say this, and i alluded to it last night. if he wins an election based on the message he put forth in these debates and the public ignores his record and previous policy statements on the same issues, i will be depressed our country has fallen so far intellectually while choosing a president.
no politician tells 100% the truth, but it’s a sad day when a president can blatantly lie to get into office, and there’s no “punishment” for flat out lying. moderators and media just repeat the statements w/o challenge.
i’ve thought that’s been the problem with our media for a long time, just a repeating what is said w/o calling bullshit or saying the statements are flat out lies.
fucking 24 hour news media has perpetuated this, by repeating the statements and having talking heads and spin doctors provide commentary. no matter what party you vote for it’s sad. if you ask me what needs to change in our political system, we need a media who will actually act as the truth seekers they used to be for the American public. No more NBCNews, No more Fox News, no more CNN in their current incarnations. Private interests have been driving elections for far longer than the recent infusion of corporate money into campaigns by using these outlets to control messaging.
it’s horrible that we’ve come to this as a nation.

So, if you had a kid and lived in Texas, where you get into UT or A&M if you finish in top 10 percent of HS class, would it be better to live near a really good school where he might learn more but have tougher time being top 10 pct, or a mediocre one. One would think even the relatively poor schools have some decent teachers and good classes for the college prep kids, no?

and it opens up the possibility for a Showtime “dexter” movie in a few years since a good two hour format could be awesome for this particular character.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM
RE Dexter: I see it ending with him eventually going to prison with him waxing poetic, blathering some profound platitudes. Fits the show about right. Also, I haven’t watched last Sunday’s episode yet but has Deb even bothered to ask if Rita knew? Has Rita even been mentioned the past 3 seasons? Did Dexter’s kid just starve to death of neglect?
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM

This. It was a slap in the face to the viewers who take a more cerebral, calculated approach to dissecting the different plots. I am approaching this with a Breaking Bad viewers mindframe, and then I saw this meme and thought it really rang true with Dexter since season 5

This is actually the correct answer on 90% of foreign policy issues.
In this economy, nobody is going to the polls thinking about their candidates’ stance on Syria. They just aren’t. I think Romney loses a very close election despite winning the popular vote. Thank God the debates are over, because Obama was gaining momentum back slowly but surely.

i saw mitt as the guy decked out with the tour bag, the logo’d clothes and visor and the bag full of the latest clubs with training aids and alignment sticks all over the place giving everyone at the driving range a lesson while obama was the guy who can actually play. mitt had the same look on his face that a cocky-albeit-shitty golfer has whenever he gets paired up with a guy who can flush every shot.
i thought the same thing in inverse after the first debate.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:10 AM
Thanks. It’s interesting (and politically incorrect), but I just printed out the stats of all of the local school districts on SAT’s, ACT’s and TAKS (state test) and the uniformity of the scores along racial lines, regardless of district, was striking.
HISD, the most inner city district and the one with the bad rep, actually had the second highest scores for white kids. Not turning this into a racial discussion, but I wonder just how much the “good school” rep is based on the racial makeup of the school. Makes it hard to judge what’s good and what’s bad.

Romney the salesman is now showing a love of coal, which would play well in the Western part of VA and southeastern Ohio. He is also playing the don’t cut the military card, which could play well with the huge government contractor segment of Northern VA. Then he laments the Navy not having as many ships as in previous years, implying we need more ships. Of course this would seem to play well in the Tidewater part of VA. I think reasonable people can recognize pandering, where it’s coming from and conclude from where desperation is truly seeping.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:17 AM
I’m fairly certain you don’t believe that…or maybe you do. Romney supporters are pretty much exactly the same as Kerry 2004 supporters. They ignored the realities of electoral politics. Instead they clung to the belief that a prez with a sub-50% approval rating couldn’t possibly be re-elected, could he? (I would note that Obama’s 10/12 approval rating is higher than Bush’s 10/04 approval rating, but that’s beside the point.)
Point is, every Kerry supporter I know thought he was going to win 2 weeks out, despite strong, strong polling evidence to the contrary. Deja vu in 2012 vis a vis Romney supporters.

Hey, its fine. Keep telling yourself Romney is winning. Disregard all the polls. Romney looked great last night. Disregard all the polls. They don’t matter. Republicans are enthusiastic, right? The polls are biased, right? We’ll know in two weeks.

I have been looking at polling places for the past several days, and lots and lots of them have data that conflicts with that guys computer simulations.
I also don’t think as many people who are likely to vote for Barry will be voting this year. I think it’s a real possibility that Mittens is the victor. And then the rich will get richer, and not a single job will get created. And Mitt will do what he intended to do, and then get voted out in 4 years.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:20 AM
Actually, he predicted a net gain of 55 versus a net gain of 63, which was within his confidence level. He wasn’t wrong on a single house race, D or R, where he assigned a better than 59% of victory.
But by all means, continue to misunderstand what he’s doing, and misstating facts.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:20 AM
Yeah, they just knew no one could vote for Bush. I voted for Kerry and knew Bush would win. Its hard for fence sitting voters to go with someone new when things are OK and the differences between the two candidates are somewhat minimal.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:20 AM
I wonder just how much the “good school” rep is based on the racial makeup of the school. Makes it hard to judge what’s good and what’s bad.
True. It’s difficult when a school has such a bad rep but the kids are really great. Scores may be low but with everything the majority of them in the school go through on a daily basis, it’s sad. Truly sad. That want and drive to be successful is a lot of times absent from so many because it’s not as important as taking care of themselves or others after school is over.

Hope & Change. The most widespread pandering job in political history.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Great point. It’s difficult to unravel the racial and socio-economic elements from the overall quality of the school. I would suggest visiting a couple of potential schools. We did that and it was extremely helpful. You could tell which “exemplary” school got that rating from providing a great education versus the one that got it based on the quality of the students in the school that would succeed anywhere. Usually, it’s some combination of both.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Point is, every Kerry supporter I know thought he was going to win 2 weeks out, despite strong, strong polling evidence to the contrary. Deja vu in 2012 vis a vis Romney supporters.
pretty damn good comparison.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Point is, every Kerry supporter I know thought he was going to win 2 weeks out, despite strong, strong polling evidence to the contrary.
it’s not that I thought he was going to win, it’s that I was utterly incredulous as to how George Bush could win, given what we knew and what was happening. And it kinda wasn’t close.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:23 AM
And I’m guessing that most of them are wrong. He’s just better at this than most anyone else. His entire book focuses on why so many people are wrong and draw incorrect conclusions from data. This is all he thinks about. His sole job is to be right.
Look, if the reverse was true and Silver had Romney up 70-30, not only would I think the race is over, but not one right-winger would be out there saying the data is different or the polls are biased or whatever else they’re claiming now.

I’m genuinely confused by the people who claim that the debates and polls don’t matter, and then say their candidate is going to thump the other guy in the general. I stopped thinking Obama was going to POUND THE OVER after the first debate.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:26 AM
On average, the result of the debate matters far less than who the media thinks won. Or, to put it differently, there’s more of a correlation there.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:26 AM
show me mitt winning Ohio and Wisconsin and I’ll agree with your sentiment that he’s winning the election.
Mitt has to win IA, FL, VA, NC, NV, NH, CO if he can’t win OH, WI, MI, PA to eek out a victory.
NV, IA, and NH are lean Obama right now. that’s not saying they will never flip to Romney, but that’s a tough spot to be in right now.
and it will be interesting to see how both campaigns move the narrative to IA and OH over the next two weeks.

That one is better than most, but still stupid. It looks like it could be for one of the dorms in Harry Potter.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Who would be the most respected alternative to Silver? I’ve not heard anyone else mentioned and would like to see someone else’s projections.

oh, he was last week. I haven’t been going there as much this week. I’ve been seeking out individual polls. I feel like it’s better to be pessimistic for the next three weeks, which is why I like Rasmussen. Obama is doomed on Rasmussen polls.

For the hundredth time when you have a party fully obstructing the recovery at all points you cannot reward them in the election. Also the Reagan recovery was Keynesian and against the actual economic philosophy of the GOP.
Romney: Obama you failed to create jobs.
Romney: I will create 12 million jobs.
Romney: Government cannot create jobs.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM
The three biggest competitors are Real Clear Politics, Talking Points Memo, and HuffPost Pollster. All three list Ohio as “toss-up,” but they go about things from Silver in a different way, they don’t assign % chances as he does. It should be noted all three list polling averages that show Obama ahead.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM
In a choice between Star Wars and becoming a welfare state, give me Princess Leia all day long…particularly in the slave outfit.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
This is from 538, which is telling indeed. It worries me because most of the morons that are going to put Obama back in office are getting their “news” from CBS, CNN, and Google. Guess we’ll see what The Messiah can do with another 4 years.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
agreed there.
in a choice between a welfare state and giving boeing $3.48 BILLION in 2011 to continue building this missile shield that is a) useless against today’s most likely threats and b) useless against the threat it was designed to suppress…fairly sure it’s a no brainer.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Two weeks before the 2010 election, Nate “Baghdad Bob” Silver was projecting a net gain of 49 House seats for the Republicans.
Might want to check again. Also never mentioned by the 538 crowd is that he had access in 2008 to the Obama Campaign’s internal polling data, and signed an NDA so that he cannot talk about it. Nor did he disclose it. Think that access had any help in his projections?
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Rassmussen is also objectively the most inaccurate and biased major polling company. At least, they were in 2010.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
For the 200th time, Government cannot create jobs. Romney’s argument (whether you believe it to be valid or invalid) is to get government THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
Where’s the proof of that? Show the link that says he got the internals.
And no, why would internal polling help his predictions? What are you even taking about?
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
And on election day, he was projecting a net gain of 55, not 49. Mike NYC, you aren’t an idiot, stop acting like one. What he predicted two weeks out is irrelevant to his final prediction.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM
Where do you get your “news,” non-moron?
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM

October 23rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM

Boeing employs people and passes out paychecks. The meth head in the foodstamp line calling his dealer on this new iphone doesn’t.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:50 AM
So does the government. Well, a lot less since Obama has been in office thanks to GOP budget cuts. But money from a local, state or federal job is worth the same at the grocery store as mine.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:50 AM
Yes, Jimmy Carter is widely regarded as a Presidential first ballot HOF’er.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:51 AM
boeing employs people, agreed. but why are they getting contracts for OBSOLETE INITIATIVES THAT DO NOT FUCKING WORK?!?!!?!? BILLIONS!!!
nevermind the fact that we’re like generations of aircraft ahead of the next closest country, yet still pouring in tons. or the fact that some of those billions could be used to rehab the methhead and make him a productive member of society instead of paying out additional contracts to private jailers to keep him in prison and make him a social pariah…
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:51 AM
I WILL NOT GET MY NEWS FROM FUCKING BING.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:51 AM
For such a devoted follower, one would think you would know these things.
And might we project this logic to the 2012 race as well?
I did ask you over Twitter about your apparent inconsistent stance of harping on college athletes not being paid, while simultaneously soliciting bids for an unpaid internship. I guess that’s considered a “shot”, because you subsequently blocked me.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
That’s not fair, he also enjoys hating on things Lisk writes
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
Then why are we concerned about his predictions as of today?
// 2 weeks out
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
Another thing — why do they have the money to employ people? Government contracts.
Government does not create jobs.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
You know, I would love to see Paolo back on this site and have him and Queefer in a death match. Not to mention the ratings boost.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:53 AM
Yeah, so does the government alright. Governments all over the country that have zero money, can’t balance a budget, and waste what they do collect. That’s who I want signing paychecks.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:54 AM
Im not sure what your point is. Even if he had access to internals, the point is that he was right. His models matched the internals. Are you saying that because he doesn’t have that same polling that his models are jacked? Do you know anything about his methodology?

October 23rd, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Eh, not really worth my time. I don’t really care what someone’s political ideology is. I care if they’re wrong and say dumb things. If Obama had a 30 percent chance of winning in a model that’s been stunningly accurate for the last four-plus years, and I was on here saying that its all bias and flawed metrics and that Obama was really winning, I’d deserve to be called an idiot.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:57 AM
Florida instituted a policy where people receiving government aid had to take druge tests, before a judge shut it down it was costing more to administer the tests than it was saving the state since too few people were testing positive…perhaps the broad brush should be set aside
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:57 AM
Yeah the NCAA at least provides shelter for their serfs.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:58 AM
Government is also signing those checks to Boeing if we want to talk about government waste.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
JMac, FWIW, he does have a point about your stance on unpaid athletes earning colleges money, and unpaid writers earning this site money. The practice certainly isn’t exclusive to TBL and it has some hints of apples and oranges, but his point that an entity (college/TBL) benefits from free labor (players/interns) because its a springboard to something better (a job/NFL) is a fair one, IMO.
October 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
You definitely won’t get any disagreement from me, in terms of how Silver’s 2012 accuracy will ultimately be judged.

Have you ever heard the phrase, distinction without a difference?
You and your company are profiting off the work of unpaid labor that you voluntarily solicited, all in exchange for the “experience” of the exposure of working for you.
Sounds familiar.

As an aside, I live in a state capital city. The amount of private businesses dependent on government jobs is astounding. A lot of people work for the state or state-related companies here. Housing, restaurants, auto dealers, grocery stores — they’re all dependent on those state workers spending their money to survive. Those budget cuts have a real impact on the private sector beyond direct government-to-private relationships like the above example with Boeing.

you’re right, because paying to house them in prisons is so much more productive for everyone, keeps those prison guards employed too.

i totally agree with you on personal responsibility…i am STRONGLY in favor of legalizing and taxing and regulating ALL drugs. but here’s the thing…you’re going to pay somewhere…why would you pay for someone’s life to be ruined when it’d be cheaper to help? taxpayer dollars for legislating and imprisoning a guy (not to mention “fighting” the flow of drugs coming in) are outrageous compared to simply helping the guy get back on his feet.
it’s counterintuitive financially and even worse ethically.

Ask Mikhail Gorbachev if he thought it was a stupid idea. The Russians were terrified at the idea of us developing SDI. They balked at a major nuclear arms treaty because Reagan refused to scrap the program.

October 23rd, 2012 at 11:12 AM
Also a very good point.
Like I said way back when this started: I’m very anti free labor. I certainly won’t besmirch anyone who would want to take advantage of this opportunity, but if I was offered the position and thus deemed “good enough” to write for a site this large, I’m going to take my talents elsewhere for money.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:14 AM

Prisons were originally designed to have a rehabilitative nature to them. That is until people got wind in the money that could be made with prison labor and building. Now it’s nothing more than warehousing. You have to ask yourself what end result are we seeking, especially with the high recidivism rate.

I’d argue that public detox centers and government programs have such a low success rate that it ends up costing more than prisons. And let’s face it, most people who get locked up for non violent offenses to very little time anymore, at least where I live. And my wife’s an attorney so that’s on pretty good authority.

seen it too. they rob because it’s hard to ask for help when there’s such a social and legal stigma…much easier to treat when a user doesn’t have to hide their addiction.
they also rob because the unregulated drug market pushes prices incredibly high in the name of profits over the cost of transportation, the cost of lost product and the fact demand will almost always outweigh supply.

As much as someone like Obama can try, you’ll never stop capitalist greed and the desire to make money. I much prefer greed to laziness and apathy.
As Judge Smails so elequently said, “The world needs ditch diggers too.”
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:52 AM
Agreed. I’m about as cynical as they come, but even I believe that most people are inherently decent and want to do the right thing to earn a better life. Sure, some are lazy and some are hopeless but the majority just wants a chance to do right. And they become frustrated when a certain group of people get all the breaks. After a while it’s easy to conclude that the system is rigged so why try?
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:53 AM
seen it too. they rob because it’s hard to ask for help when there’s such a social and legal stigma…much easier to treat when a user doesn’t have to hide their addiction.
in my case, this person had been to rehab and still continued to rob and use when they got out. everyone knew the situation. my point i guess was at some point, people just do not have a desire to be helped or to quit.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Well, Obama hasn’t done any of that. Record corporate profits under his watch with the stock market through the roof.
But anyway, you can limit the excesses of greed and capitalism and ensure that everyone has a real shot at achieving success. “Making as much money as possible” shouldn’t be the overriding goal all the time, especially when it comes at the expense of so many other things.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:55 AM
It really depends. Some are legit and some are stupid. DUI minimums are necessary. Minimums for weed and other non-violent or non-dangerous people are pointless. Obstruction of justice is bullshit I agree. But if you slug a cop you probably deserve resisting arrest.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:55 AM
it’s funny we have the exact same mindset (i was nodding this entire time) yet are so far apart on the above topic.
i love greed. it’s awesome. it’s inspirational. but there IS a point where it’s excess and i don’t agree with excess at the expense of public health. it’s not like helping the less fortuante is going to give us the same issues that destroyed the soviet union…it’s better for the long-term health of the country to invest in edcation and health at the expense of those extra few return points.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Agreed. The trick is finding better ways to sort the groups, locking up the ones with no hope of rehabilitation and giving the others a path to redemption.
Hell, I’ve said for years that welfare and assistance should be tied to continuing educational betterment wherever possible. I feel that’s an idea both sides could get behind.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:59 AM
Record corporate profits under his watch with the stock market through the roof.
arent a good chunk of those record profits driven by lowered overhead, ie, these companies cut a bunch of folks? dont think it had much to do with actual performance.
Hell, I’ve said for years that welfare and assistance should be tied to continuing educational betterment wherever possible. I feel that’s an idea both sides could get behind.
thats a solid idea. same logic to rehab. give a guy a few shots in a state appointed rehab to get on track, after that, jail.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:00 PM
This is all bullshit. Profits are still high because businesses are forced to lay off in a down economy, plus there’s no reason to expand or grow the business when all you’ll do is be taxed on it. Unemployment is the only number that matters. People who aren’t working are not putting money into the economy. It’s that simple. You attack business, you’ll never see umemployment go back up. There’s a reason why the majority of business leaders, small and large, cannot stand Obama. And not every one of them is a scumbag, greedy, self absorbed millionaire just out to make a buck.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:03 PM
Yes, Philly can explain this far better than I, but my basic understanding that its both. Companies are both earning more and employing less people. They’re also sitting on tons of cash reserves.
All for this, too. I hate mandatory minimums for the same reason I loathe the one-game playoff: your life should never come down to one incident (provided that incident is a mistake not murder or something intentional). Give people a chance in a program. They continue to fuck up, enjoy jail. I’m fine with that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Agree agree agree. Would have ZERO problem with this. Show me you’re trying to better yourself, you can pass a piss test, and are looking for work. I have no problem helping these people out.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:06 PM
Well, all of this is wrong. Unemployment is down — we’ve added jobs every month for the last two-plus years.
Also, even people who are not working, those on unemployment, food stamps, etc, are still spending money. In fact, the multiplier on those funds is often very high because those people can’t simply horde the cash. When I was on UC for six months in 2008-09, I spent every penny of my UC check because I had to.
Finally, business taxes are lower, on average, than at any time in the modern era. The loopholes alone ensure businesses pay almost nothing.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:07 PM
So Apple making over $33.5 billion in profit the past three quarters is b/c of layoffs? Google with $7.8 billion, JPMorgan with $15.6 billion, Wells Fargo with $13.8 billion? Get the fuck out of here. All of thse companies are making record profit because the economy is getting better.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:07 PM
Keeping with the baseball analogy…3 strikes and you’re out.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:07 PM
Nope, not on board with that. It’s a waste of money and unless everyone in America is going to be piss tested in exchange for government money (ie tax returns/cuts) then the poorz shouldn’t be, either.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:09 PM
Fuck you idiot.
1. That costs more than saves
2. I though you were small gov’t less wasteful spending?
3. Invasive as fuck
4. If they are deeply addicted and you cut them off they will become apart of the robust drug economy and cost more in prison you cunt.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:11 PM
Yes, use the 4 most successful companies in the world as your normal. That’s sound logic. Jesus.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:11 PM
i wouldn’t pass a piss test…as meatloaf said, two out of three aint bad.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:11 PM
Take away tax-exempt status for churches and legalize marijuana for the tax revenue.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:11 PM
That bankrupted California smart guy (along with thousands of bullshit community government counsels.)
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:12 PM
tax revenue wouldn’t make up as much of the deficit as simply not prosecuting it would.
/high five anyways
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:15 PM
Then make the companies pay for it. I’m not hiring you if you can’t pass the test, and we pay for ours as part of a pre-employment physical. Bottom line is that if you can’t pass a test, you don’t deserve a fucking job or handout. If I hire someone and they fail MY drug test, I should be able to turn the test in and their benefits should be stripped. And I’m willing to pay for it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:15 PM
Many, many things bankrupted California. Its mindbogglingly stupid property tax plan primarily.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:17 PM
So wait: you, Mr. Small Government, Obama is Crippling Business Through Oppressive Taxes, wants the government to mandate that all private businesses piss test any employee they want to hire? This is a stance that you’ve thought through??
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Dude what’s your problem with illegal drugs they can be good times. Prescription drugs are the real danger. I’ll show up hangover and still drunk as balls but you’ll hire me over fucking Horatio Alger who likes to get high on the weekends.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:20 PM
I could use plent of companies, I was just choosing four (all of which get most of their profit in the US). How about all of the small restaurants in Philly that are packed? Or you could use Credit Card spend metrics (last quarter average spending per Amex card was $3,885). Here’s a simple table:
http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CP
Corporate Profits are at their highest ever. So much for the anti-business President.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:21 PM
If a person is fired for conduct, then they are already ineligible for unemployment benefits.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:21 PM
i don’t deserve a job? thanks man.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:23 PM
Most companies are screening anyways because of liability. You have any idea what drug tests cost for new hires? Peanuts. And certainly alot less than Obamacare and tax increases for the “wealthy folks” are going to cost me.
I wouldn’t hire you because you keep calling me a cunt.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Sorry, you can keep your job. Pot should be legal anyways. I’m serious about that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:26 PM
Go out on a limb and say Spencer is a much better employee than me and I would probably pass the piss test. He probably does not arrive at work still bleeding or in the same clothes the night before he slept in on the ground. He probably has never arrived at work and turned off the lights and wore sunglasses when using a computer while drinking remedy whiskey at 10am. I would also guess Spencer does not get high at work all the time and does not have a bong at the ready in his desk.
/Spencer your fired
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:26 PM
Might also know the difference between you’re and your.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:27 PM
LOL!!! This is bullshit. They don’t turn anyone down anymore. And most companies don’t fight it because it’s more expensive to fight it than to pay it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:27 PM
48yearslump…lol im kidding. i know full well the consequences my imbibe of choice could lead to.
soused…tho i did wake up one morning and put my undershirt on backwards with the tag facing forward. old boss had a good lauhg at that one.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Prude.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:29 PM
You are one bad mofo.
/Truly reefer MADNESS
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:29 PM
shit, i know about ten people at my old company that should’ve been fired for conduct multiple times over taht never were. and they didn’t even bring in shit business.
i think people just don’t like firing people anymore. much easier to lay em off and pay severance?
/has no idea…genuinely curious
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:30 PM
In 2010, I got fired from my job for violating the associate conduct policy. Applied for unemployment – Denied.
oh wait, i thought you said everyone gets unemployment nowadays. Perhaps you should do some research and stop pulling things out of your ass.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:31 PM
But…but…he hates business! And Iran is four years closer to having a bomb!
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:33 PM
You have no idea what you’re yelling about.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:35 PM
Nope he doesn’t, I would recommend drugs.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:36 PM
If this was even the case, which I know it isn’t, the inability to refuse providing the benefit would be the result of poor documentation by the company. If you have your ducks in a row, and illustrate the reasons behind the terminiation, the benefit will be denied.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:37 PM
Employment Law 101
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:39 PM
So Apple making over $33.5 billion in profit the past three quarters is b/c of layoffs? Google with $7.8 billion, JPMorgan with $15.6 billion, Wells Fargo with $13.8 billion?
i think there are just a few more companies in operation than those 4. BTW, fairly certain wells and JPM’s profits have had a ton to do with layoffs. apple and google, outliers.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Looks like you were one of the few that got what he deserved, fuckface. I can assure you that based on my experience of being in business for 20 years, the State of Pennsyltucky is very generous when it comes to unemployment.
I don’t think he hates business, I just think he hates rich people (of which he is one) and loves to tax them. Problem with that logic is that businesses just stop hiring people, they sit on cash reserves, and wait it out. Business wins either way. So what BO is trying to do, as noble as it might seem, just wont’ work. Term limits bitch!
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:40 PM
does it disgust anyone else that apple’s profits are so high despite the fact that they only exclusively make recreational hardware? kinda gross. our country sucks.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:41 PM
perhaps pennsylvania is lenient but say that next time. Don’t lump all states into the assertion.
Yes, i did get what I deserved. New York doesn’t fuck around with that stuff.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:43 PM
obama’s net worth is $11.3 million. that’s rich, obviously…but that’s far from obscene. id say that’s about the net worth of a very successful small business owner. romney almost netted twice that last year alone.
if you’re talking about someone who hates the rich and would love to tax em…warren buffett.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:44 PM
JPM – Q1-09 219k workers, Q3-12, 259k workers
Wells – Q1-09 272K workers, Q3-12, 265k workers
Keep grasping, I’ll just provide the data. Wells cut back as part of Wachovia merger, but has stayed around 265k the past eight quarters.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:45 PM
So….he hates himself? Do you even think before you post?
What is wrong with you? First off, you sound like an infected gash. Second, I live in PA and its certainly not generous with UC. In fact, having been on both sides of the table, I can tell you that its difficult for employees to simply get a check for no reason.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Yeah someone told me that about New York. Other states should take that approach. Sucked for you at the time but it seems you’re very accountable.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:49 PM
or maybe after 20 years, you still don’t know how to accurately document your reasoning.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:52 PM
Well that has never been true. Think about it, more profit (less tax) for contributing less (no gains) realizes no incentive to hire. Essentially lower the tax rate provides more profit without growth. A company only hires to meet demand to increase profit, low tax business tax rates does not create more demand. Trickle-down economics are a myth that turned American in a debt riddled plutocracy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Don’t know what to tell you other than you’re wrong.
As usual, you completely miss the point and respond with insults. Obama pretends to be a man of the people, when in reality he’s a rich, lying politician (as they all are). The trouble with him more than anything else, is that business leaders hate him. And they will win in the end. They can wait out another 4 years while The Chosen One pisses away more money running up the debt and tries to get everyone to pay their fair share. They’ll continue to sit on their reserves, they won’t hire and try to grow their businesses, and the country loses. You see, Soc***ism just doesn’t work. You’re bleeding heart won’t change that Queefer.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:06 PM
so who really is the bad guy in that hypothetical? The president or the business leaders who “hate him”?
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:09 PM
Both. But that’s the capitalist system. If you don’t like it, feel free to leave. Europe is lovely. Of course, you may find things even worse over there.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:10 PM
I just used the Google machine and read the pertinent Pennsylvania regulation. It’s there, you just need to do a better job documenting your reasons.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:10 PM
We all so it going there, ladies and gentlemen your informed GOP voter.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:14 PM
just asking, no need to be a dickbag. You presented a scenario where “business leaders” are conspiring to do harm to the nation as a whole because they do not like the president. And this is a scenario you are ok with?
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:20 PM
Sorry, didn’t mean to be an ass. No, in a perfect world things would be alot better. But dreaming of a perfect world is for hippies and idiots. Soused and Queefer fall into one of these categories. I’ll call them hippies to be nice.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:23 PM
The problem with this scenario is twofold. Business isn’t in the work of hiring people for the public good. They hire for need. So, if these supposed conspiring businesses didn’t need to hire in 4 years under Obama, they aren’t going to suddenly start hiring because they supposedly have a friend in the White House. 2. Once Obama wins re-election, this obstruction in the House loses power. Obama not having to worry about another election while many of these same Congressmen have to worry about the mid term elections will create more willingness to work.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:27 PM
but it seems you’re very accountable.
sure, for a fuckface
/dick move
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:30 PM
Not a conspiracy, just a fact. Businesses and business leaders hate giving money to the government. They risk going to jail to avoid it. Stupid, I know. But a fact nonetheless.
Maybe, maybe not. If the economy continues to falter, it just makes BO look worse and the opposing party look better. I hope they do look to work together but Washington is so broken that I have my doubts.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:30 PM
Yeah I’ll keep taking acid, banging chicks with sub-par hygiene and dreaming that Obama spending rate at 1.4% is the lowest since fucking Eisenhower.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:39 PM
/team eisenhower
//golf swing
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:41 PM
It’s not what you spend but what you spend it on…hippie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:45 PM
Like 2 wars, rich tax cuts and taking a surplus into a deficit like a real cowboy all of which I’m sure you ardently opposed.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:48 PM
Horses and bayonets?
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:50 PM
Yep, Bush sucked. I agree. That’s why I voted for Kerry. I don’t just hold the party line no matter what like most of the liberals do, especially the ones who won’t acknowlege Clinton’s hand in destroying the American economy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:53 PM
I think it was Dennis Miller who said that they could have used some horses and bayonets at the Embassy a few weeks ago.
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:55 PM
special forces and delta force rode horses in alongside the northern alliance in afghanistan in 2003…just sayin’. and you can still attach a military knife to an m16/m4 for a bayonet.
October 23rd, 2012 at 2:02 PM
Future Al Jazeera Headline:
“Drone horses armed with bayonets decimate orphanage at India-Pakistan border”
October 23rd, 2012 at 2:04 PM
That’s great that you don’t only vote R but let’s not act like liberals are the only ones who vote strictly down party lines
October 23rd, 2012 at 2:14 PM
Horses and bayonettes sure worked well for the Polish Army against the German Army.
