Breaking: Dancers Hook Up With Stars on Dancing With the Stars
As long as people from the world of sports have appeared as contestants on Dancing With the Stars, we’ve had an excuse to write about Dancing With the Stars. Now we have sorta-kinda-confirmation of what we have all always expected. All these people are totally boning. From the New York Post:
All the bumping, grinding and half-naked bodies have both pros and celebrities hopping in the sack like teenagers on prom night.
“When you have two single people in a room and you are spending so much time together, it’s natural to have chemistry and to be curious,” longtime pro Cheryl Burke tells The Post.
“All of a sudden you think you are in love because you are grinding on each other seven days a week.”
Burke previously admitted to hooking up with Chad Johnson.
Backstage love connections happen “a lot more than people know,” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy confirms.
In case you forgot, Chmerkovskiy has been paired up with Hope Solo, Willa Ford, Laila Ali, Misty May-Treanor and Erin Andrews. I’m not saying he has definitely slept with an Olympic soccer goalie, an NHL player’s wife, a boxer, a gold medal beach volleyball player and an ESPN sideline reporter. I’m just saying those are some of his previous partners. On the television program.

“…has been paired up with Hope Solo.” There you go, Mr. Webster.
/Gotta git you one of them proofreeding inturns. Unpaid, of course.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:06 PM
So who boned Kirstie Alley?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:07 PM
male dancers? this makes me angry. we’re a species after all, and our women choose to mate with effeminite men that cannot, AND WILL NOT, provide any type of utility when the apocalypse comes.
i think, for the prolonging of the human race, we ban dancing. not because of what it makes our children do, but because, in it’s essence, it’s nothing more than moving your body in ways that idiots find interesting.
to hell with it. to hell with it all. i wanna burn this country down.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:08 PM
shouldnt that be who bigboned kristie alley?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:09 PM
I assume you’re providing an exemption for pole dancing, lap dancing and just traditional nekkid stripper dancing?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:09 PM
Or who de-boned Kirstie Alley?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:11 PM
Looked good at Cheers reunion
/Still would
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:11 PM
So who boned Kirstie Alley?
Robin Colcord.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:11 PM
no no…im only advocating banning MALE dancing in exchange for money (outside of strip joints).
sorry for not making that clear.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:13 PM
spencer doesnt dance for no man or woman. He gets high to the bejeezus belt and then sways around, walking around the party with his hand up in the air and engages those at the party with a “up high brah”
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:13 PM
This guy knows, wonder if she’d still sport a pair of Vulcan ears for good measure
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:14 PM
We also would have accepted Tom Berenger as The Plumber.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:15 PM
This guy knows, wonder if she’d still sport a pair of Vulcan ears for good measure
Well, we learned quite a lot about Butters today.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:15 PM
i will gladly put aside any and all of my strong, declaritive statements if there’s even the remotest chance i might get…
/lights cigarette
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:16 PM
People who love to dance always crack me up.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:17 PM
We also would have accepted Tom Berenger as The Plumber.
Was this ever confirmed? He was a final episode riboon on her character arc. Mayday also crushed that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:18 PM
Especially if they’re dancing at the end of a piano wire.
/ I personally apologize to Kaiser for that one
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:18 PM
I don’t think I’ve ever met a person I liked who would list dancing as one of their hobby.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:18 PM
So I take it ms621 doesn’t want to come over for my Look Who’s Talking marathon this weekend
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:19 PM
Cheryl Burke has all the answers. Even to questions I haven’t thought up yet. Ow! Hit me! (figuratively, of course)
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:19 PM
This guy knows, wonder if she’d still sport a pair of Vulcan ears for good measure
Sigourney in Galaxy Quest could get it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:19 PM
I don’t get it. Is it a nazi joke?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Didn’t Rebecca go off to marry Jake (?) at the end of the Cheers finale?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:20 PM

ATL_Badger is interested.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Erin Andrews spreads like Jif.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Look Who’s Talking – one of the 10 worst movies i’ve seen in a theater.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:21 PM
More nasty than Nazi, but yes.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:21 PM
If it hasn’t been mentioned, tOSU and Oregon agreed to a ’20-’21 home and home series.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:22 PM
I’d give ‘er a go. Not ashmaed to say it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:22 PM
Yeah Kaiser like, what’s the deal with the whole hitler thingy?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:23 PM
Johnny Be Goode for me.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:24 PM
Media Musings is dead! Long live Media Musings!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:24 PM
The original? I liked the original one when I was younger, probably does not hold up well but it did have Abe Vigoda in it.
Look Who’s Talking with the talking dogs was horrible, and I saw that in the theatre and had my first make-out session of my life in middle school. Good times, bad movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:24 PM
Enemy MineGrease II, here.October 23rd, 2012 at 4:25 PM
According to Wiki, Anthony Michael Hall “turned down the role of Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to appear in” Johnny Be Goode.
Career suicide.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:25 PM
A sad chapter in history. Penn State scandal sad. Only 1000x worse.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:25 PM
Erin Andrews spreads like Jif.
So you’re saying I got a chance?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:25 PM
Oh, and Mafia! was the worst movie I ever paid money to see.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:26 PM
Look Who’s Talking
/Johnny Be Goode for me.
Kiss the Girls
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:26 PM
I didn’t understand what was going on in the second one when Mikey could speak yet was still communicating telepathically with the sister…at what point in life does that power go away?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:26 PM
I boned a great blonde whale. Call me Ashmaed.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:26 PM
The Master of Disguise was probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen in a theater. Also walked out on Mr. & Mrs. Smith
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:28 PM
worst movie i saw in theaters? ooo…tough. act of valor was preposterously disappointing…i guess gangs of new york.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Well played.
Other horrid movies I went to see in theatre because of adolescent dating:
My father the Hero, Weekend at Bernie’s II, Benny and June, Loser.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Pretty sure AP would bone Kirstie Alley
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:28 PM
I don’t remember the name of the worst movie I ever saw in a theater but it had Freddie Prinz Jr. in it and he played an undercover FBI agent named, if I recall correctly, Bob Smoot. I think Monica Potter, otherwise known as Nicholas Cage’s wife in Con Air, was the female lead.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:28 PM
A little off the tangent here, but if you’re looking for a good bad Halloween movie, track down Undead or Alive. Cowboys, Indians and zombies, oh, and Chris Kittan. It’s actually funny.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:29 PM
The hell you say!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:29 PM
That be an interesting list. Godzilla, Hush and Matrix Revolutions immediately jump to mind.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:30 PM
My father the Hero
Didn’t that movie have a young Katherine Heigl wearing a thong in one scene? If I’m thinking of that right movie that would certainly give the movie some redeeming power.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:30 PM
i said that movie sucked more dick than rob halford at a truck stop rest area.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:30 PM
His dad also committed career suicide. Literally.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:30 PM
Home Alone II is another one. I was very young though, in grade school and parents took me for my birthday.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:30 PM
After seeing Hancock and Indy 4 in the same stretch of summer I considered never returning to a theater again
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:31 PM
I saw Jersey Girl, Monster In Law and 13 Going On 30 all while trapped on airplanes.
/Whiiiiiiiiskkkkkkeyyyyyy!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:31 PM
i said that movie sucked more dick than rob halford at a truck stop rest area.
You said it was disappointing. That’s not the same as it “sucking”. Daniel Day-Lewis’s performance keeps the movie from being crappy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:31 PM
We’re talking the 1998 shitshow remake, right? Not the 1954 classic original starring the imcomparable Takashi Shimura?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:31 PM
I fell asleep seeing “The Pelican Brief” in the theater.
/all I got
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
Yes. I also loathe dancing. Its horrible. but if I am at a wedding and my unbridled enthusiasm on the dance floor moves me to the front of the line for a happy fun time with bridesmaid #3 then I will put you all to shame.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
oh wait, i know the worst movie i ever saw in theaters…x-men origins, the wolverine one. hah…the fuck was i thinking taking a chick to see that movie? dumbass.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
I think Monica Potter, otherwise known as Nicholas Cage’s wife in Con Air, was the female lead
ha! She was in the worst movie I ever saw (Kiss the Girls) If somebody can say Patch Adams is the worst they paid to see, she gets the trophy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
I didn’t watch gangs of new york in theater, but I totally agree. That movie was horrible.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
The Rob Zombie Halloween II would also be another one. Even the Weird All scene couldn’t save that.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
ms621…i said that act of valor was disappointing. my final answer for the topic was gangs of new york before switching my final answer.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
I don’t see as many movies as I did when I was in high school, but the only movie I ever remember leaving was called Love Affair with Warren Beatty. that was the last time I let my GF ever pick a movie we went to. I don’t even remember what it was about, but it was fucking horrid.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
But that’s the movie that convinced me all I need to survive 12/21/2012 is a refrigerator!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:32 PM
Gepetto you fucking match fixing, statutory rapist grease ball.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:33 PM
Oh, and Mafia! was the worst movie I ever paid money to see.
OK, my worst ever is Contact. Followed closely by Spaced Invaders, and Howard the Duck.
I walked out of Contact. I was a teen for the other two, so I wasn’t going anywhere.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:33 PM
worst movie I ever saw in theaters is, without a doubt, The Happening
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:33 PM
Indy 4 would be top 10 for sure. Top 5 even. Damn you speilbergo.

Head Over Heels…that’s what I was thinking of. Holy shit that movie was awful.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:33 PM
This was pretty awful.
I saw Bad Company with Chris Rock in theatres. That movie sucked ass.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:34 PM
I actually liked Wolverine.
/Ducks
Yeah the American version. JPQ is the only one old enough to have seen the ’54 Godzilla during its original run.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:34 PM
totally forgot about the matrix sequels…yea, those were trash too.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:35 PM
I can’t believe I actually recommended The Red and the Black to you, you illiterate canuck.
Ashmaed = Ishmael
Great blonde whale = great white whale
/ By the way, did you ever finish The Red and the Black?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:35 PM
Does it count as seeing it in theaters if I spent $2 to see Batman & Robin at the second-run one in town? Batman had his own fucking credit card guys
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:35 PM
all while trapped on airplanes.
that can’t count, because you didn’t pay, couldn’t leave if you decided to, and didn’t have to hear it. Those are terrible movies though.
Oh, I’m going to add to my worst movies ever in theaters the following 2 – Hope Floats, and The English Patient.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:35 PM
GF took me to see fucking Mary Antoinette, fuck was that bad. There was a fucking cake and shoe montage, there are scenes when the bitch is walking down the stairs for like 5 fucking minutes, I fucking get it you nepotism slag it’s fucking opulent.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:36 PM
ms621…i said that act of valor was disappointing. my final answer for the topic was gangs of new york before switching my final answer.
Ah. Never saw Act of Valor.
I think Gangs gets shit on because there was enormous hype over the fact that Scorsese had been trying to make the movie for 30 years. People I guess thought it was guaranteed to be a masterpiece. Daniel Day-Lewis is fantastic, but the rest of the movie is just kind of there. The story is fine though. I think everyone would have a higher opinion of it if Cameron Diaz was not cast and asked to attempt an Irish accent.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:36 PM
Also saw Friday after Next (the one where Chris Tucker did not want to smoke weed on screen because of his kids or some shit) and that was also terrible.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:36 PM
Grown Ups was bad too. Chris Rock’s movie career has been a major disappointment.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:36 PM
I disagree with you, I love that movie.
Ha, reminds me of the time I took a girl to see Mission IMpossible 2 the summer after my freshman year of college. It’s the Jon Woo one so all the birds flocking slow motion and super slow mo motorcycle chases did not really set the mode though.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:36 PM
They’ve been playing the Matrix sequels on Cinemax fairly regularly, so I tried to revisit them to see if, maybe, I was missing something the first time around.
I wasn’t. They still sucked.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:37 PM
That’s one of the movies I’ll always watch when I see it’s on TV. The only successful retelling of a Grisham novel imo.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:38 PM
He’s presently on route with the memorized message. Took a break to read The Satanic Verses on the subway to see if anybody would fuck with me, it was disappointing.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:38 PM
I actually enjoyed that, although it was drivel. It is not to be confused with the NC-17 Bad Company with Larry Fishburne.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:38 PM
here’s my problem with that movie. ryan reynolds is wade wilson. wade wilson is deadpool. deadpool is the greatest character in comic book history (disclaimer: not an expert). if there were an actor who’d play deadpool in a movie, it’d be ryan reynolds.
do you see how obvious this was? and yet…they still fucked it up.
it’s going to ikea, getting the parts for a bookcase, not forgetting any of them at the store, building the bookcase shockingly quick with no effort…and then using it as a desk.
AND IF ONE OF YOU CAN GIVE ME ONE FUCKING GOOD REASON THE ‘INSERT’ BUTTON EXISTS, I WILL PAYPAL YOU A DOLLAR.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:38 PM
totally forgot about the matrix sequels…yea, those were trash too.
The sequels were so bad that they made one of the Wachowski brothers question his gender.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:38 PM
Matric Reloaded was good dammit, they just blew it with the third…the twist was great, the series isn’t interesting beyond the first film if he’s just some magic Superman
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:38 PM
I blame Lucas pretty equally for that nightmare.
And Shia LeBoeuf.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:39 PM
I once took a date to see Matewan. Fortunately she was Japanese, could barely speak English and was pretty much confused the entire movie/
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:39 PM
So much this, she really sucked in it. GAH the scene with her on the trolley, so unbelievable the way she talks.
Oh man, forgot about Forces of Nature, the Ben Whofleck and Sandra Bullock. God awful, just a pile of shit.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:39 PM
Totally off base, but this is some FUNNY SHIT..
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:39 PM
dont waste your time. on paper, real navy SEALs in an action movie would be the greatest thing ever. in practice, those real navy SEALs have to really act.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:39 PM
That’s one of the movies I’ll always watch when I see it’s on TV. The only successful retelling of a Grisham novel imo.
The Firm is pretty good but the story loses its tension and intrigue when they end up in the Caribbean or wherever it was.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:39 PM
What was the movie with Robin Williams and the green goo? Flubber? Good god that was atrocious.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:40 PM
yeah I took a girl in college to see Con Air. I think everybody does that major error once.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:40 PM
im so happy im not the only person who calls him this.
/high five
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:40 PM
Not the book, book was fantastic. The no one giving a fuck which really is a positive and I was being an asshole about the whole thing.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:40 PM
Pearl Harbor.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:41 PM
The second Matrix had its moments. It was an enjoyable flick. The third one I saw in college with a group of friends and the whole theater was shitting on that thing. Even the local yokels could smell the shit wafting off the screen.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:41 PM
oohh shit. I saw the second one in the theater the first night it played at midnight, after never seeing the first one. I was asleep within the first 10 minutes, but that 10 minutes I saw it was fucking terrible. that is the extent of the matrix movies I’ve seen.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:41 PM
If she didn’t like Con Air she wasn’t worth your time friend
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:41 PM
There actually is a good movie titled Bad Company, starring Jeff Bridges and Mr. Big Lebowski himself, David Huddleston.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:41 PM
i cant tell if john malkovich overacts more than denzel washington or if he’s just in movies with such shitty actors, he stands out more than usual…
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:42 PM
How could I forget being forced to watch that hunk of shit on a plane ride.
That was a terrible movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:42 PM
Pearl Harbor.
Boom goes the dynamite.
If I could take one movie and remove it from existence that would be it. Not only was it disappointing but it ALSO sucked major ass AND managed to take a gigantic dump on history at the same time. That’s the triple crown for anticipated historical dramas.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:42 PM
Watched this movie in my 9th grade math class. Don’t ask. Anyways, my teacher burst into tears when one of the guy was saying good bye to his girlfriend.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
i cant tell if john malkovich overacts more than denzel washington or if he’s just in movies with such shitty actors, he stands out more than usual…
It works for him in In the Line of Fire though.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
Eye of the Beholder… worst movie I’ve ever attempted to watch. Left early. Missed nothing. Most confusing, riddled with holes, ignorant plotted script of all time.
/Could be overstating…slightly
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
overnight flight from hawaii to chicago…coach…can’t sleep…movie? the new remake of footloose.
i feel like that should count.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
damn when you went into Matrix 2 you were thinking, this is it, this is gonna be the greatest movie triology ever. it’s all there for the taking. walking out you’re in denial telling yourself it was good. then you see the 3rd and you’re like holy shit, both these last too sucked major ass. damn it!!!!!!!!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
Watched this movie in my 9th grade math class. Don’t ask. Anyways, my teacher burst into tears when one of the guy was saying good bye to his girlfriend.
I hope you all had the good sense to laugh at her on the spot.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
I very nearly walked out of the 2nd Matrix movie during that ENDLESS rave scene. That was torture. Signs was worse though. What a piece of shit
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:43 PM
Agreed.
I will watch almost any movie based on a real, historical event.
Pearl Harbor is a completely unwatchable movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:44 PM
this and…
this.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:45 PM
Here I thought I was the only one.
/returns five
//but does squinty eye glare because of your gangs of new york comment

I think that dude could find diplomatic sanctuary at Htown’s house.
/ OK, gotta knock it off with the Htown jokes
// Once Coop’d goes black, it never goes back
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:45 PM
indy 4 I knew it was a money grab but I was still disapointed in it. matrix 2, that’s like the 2007 alcs game 5 for me.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:45 PM
Matric Reloaded was good dammit, they just blew it with the third…the twist was great, the series isn’t interesting beyond the first film if he’s just some magic Superman
I saw all 3 Matrix movies in the theaters and I don’t recall what happened in the last two aside from a that big car chase on the freeway and Neo fighting like a million of those super agents in the rain in the last one… what was the twist again?
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:45 PM
You people forget about Battlefield Earth and Waterworld.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:46 PM
I’ll concede the rave being the worst thing that’s ever been
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:46 PM
She also cried in class once while talking about taking her daughter to school for the first time. She was umm….emotionally unstable.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:46 PM
And what still pisses me off is that the teaser trailer made it look like it was going to be so good. Martin Sheen did the narration and they made it seem like the movie was, you know, actually about the fucking attack.
Incidentally there is a movie about Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack that’s only partially about the attack. It’s called Pearl and it’s pretty decent.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:46 PM
Pearl Harbor is a completely unwatchable movie.
this.
Only Kate Beckinsale getting naked could have changed my opinion of this movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:47 PM
NOTHINGS FREE IN WATERWORLD!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:47 PM
“_______ is a completely unwatchable movie” could be applied to every Michael Bay movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:47 PM
Agreed. Still greatly enjoy Matrix Reloaded just for the highway scene, the fight where Neo uses the swords and other weapons and the Neo/Smith fight (the CGI in that scene has aged badly though).
Pearl Harbor, a Woody Allen movie in 2002, Terminator 3, they all blew ass in theatres. I’m not even counting the awful stuff I saw when I was a kid.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:47 PM
Here is a DWTS post. And people get pissed when politics is discussed.
SMH….
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:47 PM
She also cried in class once while talking about taking her daughter to school for the first time. She was umm….emotionally unstable.
This woman sounds remarkably like my 8th grade history teacher. Was she from DeSoto, Texas and wore multi-colored nylon windbreakers to class every day?

Scooby Doo and Enough with J.Lo at the Drive-in double feature
Top that I dare you

We watched all three Back to the Future movies in 7th grad Tech Ed for reasons still unknown…probably the only real instance of being cognizant of attending public school

Stone Cold, Barb Wire….yikes!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:48 PM
Waterworld
I think I was 9 or 10 when Waterworld came out. I remember actually being entertained by it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:48 PM
I didn’t see INDY 4 in theaters because I heard it was bad, but I’m almost sure I would have walked out after the great Indiana Jones had to hide in a refrigerator to survive a nuclear explosion. They took the authentic feel of the first 3 movies (although I thought Temple of Doom was a big stretch) and flushed it down the toilet.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:49 PM
The best Pearl Harbor movies remain Tora! Tora! Tora! and The Final Countdown.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:49 PM
No, she was a Georgia girl through and through. Most stereotypical southern lady you could find. Loved her Nascar, Blue collar comedy tour, and Jesus.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:49 PM
why were those kids playing baseball at 8 in the morning on a sunday!!!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:50 PM
(the CGI in that scene has aged badly though).
I noticed this the last time I was flipping through and this was on cinemax too.. it’s aged frighteningly bad.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:50 PM
Matrix Reloaded and Waterworld are fashionable to bash but neither are terrible movies.
I ran a movie theater in HS/part of college so I’ve seen a lot of bad movies. Worst one I paid to see was probably Transformers.
Armaggedon, The Rock, The Island, Bad Boys 1 and 2 are all perfectly watchable.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:50 PM
This thread is great, story time with Chitwood & Queefer isn’t…there’s no hypocrisy here
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:50 PM
I saw Waterworld in theatres.
Also, the third X-Men movie (the one directed by Ratner) was fucking terrible as well. Nice job taking a steaming dump on everything Singer had done.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:51 PM
why were those kids playing baseball at 8 in the morning on a sunday!!!
also, pretty sure you don’t bang your best friends girl until you got that death certificate in hand.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:51 PM
The best Pearl Harbor movies remain Tora! Tora! Tora!
You could really just stop here. The only problem I have with Tora Tora Tora is the title. Otherwise a near perfect historical drama (some wooden acting aside). It is one of the few movies about World War II that retells the event it is portraying with near perfect accuracy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:51 PM
also, pretty sure you don’t bang your best friends girl until you got that death certificate in hand.
We may not agree on much but we do agree on this.

A Banders classic. To this day anytime I see a Ritz display, I want to open fire with an Uzi.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:52 PM
When properly cast, Affleck acquits himself well on-screen. Dogma, Extract, Good Will Hunting come to mind. Also as himself in Jay and SIlent Bob Strike Back.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:53 PM
I got the ultimate Matrix collection cheap on BluRay from amazon a few years ago (like $35), even on Blu Ray it’s aged badly. However, the Animatrix is still awesome to this day.

Got dragged to the first Sex and the City movie by my wife back when we were still dating. It was a well plotted piece of non-claptrap that never made me want to retch.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:54 PM
Whoever said Godzilla wins. I paid to see that. Completely awful in every way. Matthew Brodrick as the lead in a summer tentpole. How do you fuck up that bad.
Good news? The reboot is going to be fantastic. Anyone who has Netflix and hasn’t seen Monsters needs to get on that. The director earned the Godzilla gig because of that movie.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:54 PM
i have tora tora tora on dvd. somebody borrowed my Midway and never returned it.
They got a little too fancy with Midway and tried to attach a completely unnecessary personal story. But I’ll still watch it every year on Memorial Day weekend.

One of the first U.S. WWII movies to be told partially from the Japanese viewpoint. Love the scenes with Yamamoto.
“I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:55 PM
Affleck is a good actor who made some poor role choices in the peak of his career. I don’t blame him — he was wildly popular and wanted to cash in (he did a movie called fucking Paycheck for christs sake) — but the guy is a legit star.
And a legit director, one of the 10 best working now, IMO.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:56 PM
You do if Mrs Brody is ready and willing
Ah, yes. There are exceptions to every rule.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:56 PM
they said matrix 2 was gonna be some technological marvel and then when neo is flying around and shit he’s all pixelated. like what the fuck!
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:56 PM
One of the first U.S. WWII movies to be told partially from the Japanese viewpoint. Love the scenes with Yamamoto.
And they actually spoke Japanese and used subtitles…the importance of that cannot be understated.

I like to picture Godzilla just tunneling underneath Manhattan.. going wherever she pleased – with no resulting collapse of the buildings whose foundations she just obliterated.

seeing Argo tonight, pretty excited
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:58 PM
Reloaded’s highway scene is still pretty incredible, IMO. Speaking of The Matrix, I’m pretty stoked to check out Cloud Atlas this weekend. Gonna try and drag the wifey.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:58 PM
seeing Argo tonight, pretty excited
It’s not super deep or anything but very entertaining. The way the scenes in the embassy are filmed while it’s being overrun was excellent.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:59 PM
Yes.
Made the mistake the other night of watching a German zombie flick called Rammbock that was dubbed instead of subtitled. Total turnoff.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:59 PM
Didn’t see it in theatres but yes, it was just beyond horrid.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:59 PM
I don’t think human CGI was that good when they were doing it. Or they weren’t as good as ILM is.
October 23rd, 2012 at 4:59 PM
It’s fantastic, it really is. Well written, shot, acted, edited, and directed. Hollywood doesnt churn out a lot of smart adult thrillers anymore. Hopefully Argo’s critical and commercial success will lead to more.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:00 PM
shit dude, I don’t know how long y’all have been married, but you better not let her forget that to this day.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:01 PM
No, no he’s not. Legit director definitely. But his acting is not above average outside of Good Will Hunting.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:01 PM
yeah but if you watch tora tora tora, when you are finished you are pissed so damnit, yes, I am putting in midway. time for some payback!!!

I had to sit through ever single episode of the TV show when I was dating a girl. Agony, agony, agony.
/but seriously once Carrie cheated on Aiden I was done, fuck her
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:02 PM
But his acting is not above average outside of Good Will Hunting.
I thought he was decent in the town… and the studios totally raped the original (and much better) ending he had in mind for that movie. He’s no DDD, but I certainly am not bothered by his acting.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:03 PM
It is worse than a disappointment since he’s made enough money to never have to do standup again.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:03 PM
Got up and left Date Night with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey, ironically on a date night.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:03 PM
changing lanes was good. all the superstar failings affleck made as an actor have only given him perspective and make him a better director.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:04 PM
Another excellent World War II era movie is The Caine Mutiny.
Which also is the movie that gave Michael Caine his stage name. His original stage name was Michael Scott. He was being considered for a role in a production that already had a Michael Scott on it. He was talking on a payphone with his agent about this when he say the marquee sign for the opening of the Caine Mutiny in London. He changed his name on the spot.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:04 PM

October 23rd, 2012 at 5:04 PM
That’s one thing about the movies… You pay the same whether the performances are oscar worthy or you’re watching January Jones in Unknown. Holy mother of Joe Thomas was she horrendous in that film.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:05 PM

To those who still want to bag on Kirstie Alley we all have her to thank for getting us that much closer to quittin’ time here
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:13 PM
Remember when everyone thought Michael Mann was a genius because he got Al Pacino and Robert De Niro to do something that they were already good at doing in a movie that went on for way too long?
/still like Heat though.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:13 PM
There are so many plot holes in Armageddon I’m not sure how it’s not considered a comedy.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:14 PM
To those who still want to bag on Kirstie Alley we all have her to thank for getting us that much closer to quittin’ time here
Indeed. A solid assist by the EIC as well.

But no one can touch Craig Ferguson’s Michael Caine.

October 23rd, 2012 at 5:17 PM
Collateral’s ending ruined the film for me since there’s no reason to take out the prosecuting attorney if you’ve wiped out all the witnesses, right? Felt like a contrivance to give Foxx a reason to save Pinkett and to make matters worse the climax just dragged on forever
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:18 PM

watched this a while ago in college when it first came out, watched it more for the filmmaking rather than the story so i distanced myself from it… however, i saw the last half not long ago and holy shit i didn’t realize how sad it all was, with Ben Kingsley’s character and his wife… damn….
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:21 PM
My favorite part of Volcano is that the County Emergency Director (or whatever the hell he was) was also Elizabeth Berkley’s unlikely love interest in Showgirls.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:21 PM
I get that, didn’t see the purpose in the boss making her a target is all…without a case it doesn’t matter who the prosecuter is
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:21 PM
I’m going to be that guy: I enjoyed Contact.
They tried to make it “too realistic” with the government red tape and religious implications…etc. Got too heavy handed. Not too mention that nobody on the island of Japan noticed that some crazy rich guy (who lived in space!) built another one of those things?
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:21 PM
I actually liked Collateral.
You don’t go into a Jamie Foxx movie expecting coherence, which makes Law Abiding Citizen a truly guilty pleasure.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:23 PM
They tried to make it “too realistic” with the government red tape and religious implications…etc. Got too heavy handed. Not too mention that nobody on the island of Japan noticed that some crazy rich guy (who lived in space!) built another one of those things?
The Japan part I’ll give you, but I like how they show government getting involved and people trying something, anything (religion, philosophy, conspiracy theories) to try to explain the phenomenon that is occurring. It was based on a story by Carl Sagan so you had to go in expecting it to very different from other sci-fi alien encounter movies.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:24 PM
which makes Law Abiding Citizen a truly guilty pleasure.
the first 2/3 of that movie were fantastic… unbelievable how bad it went off the rails in the last 1/3 though. Left me fuming after I saw it.

I like to throw in Leaving Las Vegas when I am feeling good and depressed
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:24 PM

I would say Law Abiding Citizen was better.
Just saw Contraband. Marky Mark. Enjoyed it.

I would say Law Abiding Citizen was better.
hahahaha… no.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:25 PM
I like to throw in Leaving Las Vegas when I am feeling good and depressed
My only problem with that movie is that Nicholas Cage won an Oscar for his role and then decided that all acting he did from that point forward should be based on his character in Leaving Las Vegas but with small adjustments (nerdy, criminal, psychotic) based on the movie he was doing.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:26 PM
Thought it was very good but the end completely took me out of it…I’m wont to letting that happen if an ending is particularly bad (looking at you, Remember the Titans)
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:26 PM
Haven’t seen Law Abiding, scrolled past in on Netflix but didn’t want to invest the time.

October 23rd, 2012 at 5:27 PM
Since there was a Shaq post earlier, I’ll throw it out there: Blue Chips. Only Nolte escaped with any dignity.
Added pleasures: Geert Hammink in his only Hollywood appearance!
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:27 PM
I actually thought Mann should have been nominated for Best Director for Collateral. His use of digital film and location transformed LA into another character. Very good film.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:28 PM
Law Abiding Citizen is terrible. Just an awful film.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:28 PM
Agree that collateral used LA very nicely. Very realistic portrayal of the decent areas of town and the not so decent areas.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:28 PM
Only Nolte escaped with any dignity
Which he promptly squandered in his train wreck of a personal life.

Kevin Spacy however will let you milk his calves and even his prostate. Someone should fix him up with John Travolta.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:30 PM
Speaking of Kevin Spacy, if you watch L.A. Confidential assuming that his character is gay it gives new meaning to many of the scenes he’s in.
October 23rd, 2012 at 5:30 PM
Saw this in the theatre too, with a bunch of middle school friends. J.T. Walsh, versital rich white guy actor.

That’s one of my top 3 favorite films. Loved that era.. especially in Los Angeles (who framed Roger Rabbit… FTW!) .. and the acting was awesome.

I’m fairly sure that Mr. Skin features that scene in the Jodie Foster collection. It takes all kinds.

Definitely. The glances that he gives to people in certain scenes, like the actor from Badge of Honor for example…I think they were trying to drop the implication for sure.

October 23rd, 2012 at 5:42 PM
As good as LA Confidential is, the book is even better. Hell, Ellroys entire LA Quartet (Black Dhalia, LA, Big Nowhere and White Jazz) are spectacular. Big Nowhere would make an awesome miniseries, in fact. Joe Carnahan (the brilliant Narc, The Grey) was supposed to adapt White Jazz with Clooney in the lead role but it fell apart. Damn shame.
