Exploding Flare Thrown at Injured Player in Cypriot Soccer Match

Here is video from Sunday’s Cypriot First Division match between Anorthosis Famagusta and Omonia Nicosia. Fans from the Omonia section threw a flare onto the pitch, that exploded right next to the player on the ground and the medical treatment staff. It does not appear anyone was seriously injured. there’s no such thing as an exploding flare. This is some sort of incendiary device, but flares, by groupthink definition, do not explode.

Scary. But you have to love the guy standing over the two people writhing on the ground after the explosion. His look is a mix of “Holyishtherewasabombrightnexttome” and “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!!”
