wow…badass. sucks he couldnt get a gig with the CSO…that’d have been mawney. few years there and he’d prolly have his choice of cities to live in.

I just think he wants to find something stable in a place where he’d like to live… (and then I think he’ll finally propose to his lady of 2 years.) She actually lives in Syracuse right now and I’m amazed they’ve made it work.

he had a second performance audition with the Toronto Symphony last week. He’s one of two finalists for the timpanist position. So proud of him. He has the ambition and focus I never had as a musician

The highlights of my karoake career:
1) Singing the Sex Pistols’ “God Save the Queen” to a group of rather bewildered Japanese at Henry Miller’s widow’s bar in Tokyo;
2) Singing Tom Waits’s “The Piano Has Been Drinking” at a bar in West By God and getting a standing ovation.

I watched Sharon Needles (drag queen from Pittsburgh, won that Rupaul show) do Rock and Roll Part II, sitting on a stool, just saying a drawn out “hey” each time and it was one of the funniest goddamn things I’ve ever seen in my life. Hard to explain, but it was outstanding showmanship.

I earlier in the evening did Shadows Of The Night.
