Austin Rehkow, a high school kicker at Central Valley in Spokane Valley, Washington, made this 67-yard field goal in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game, and his team prevailed in overtime. The kick by Rehkow was a state record according to the Seattle Times, and tied him for the second longest kick in high school football history. (The longest was 68 by Dirk Borgognone of Reno, Nevada in 1985.) Rehkow has three field goals over 50 yards this season, but according to ESPN, only has a partial scholarship offer from Eastern Washington. [Times video via Adam]

Dirk Borgognone’s record is from when kickers were allowed to kick fieldgoals off a tee, so this is MUCH more impressive.

in high school you have a # of factors helping. some wide open venues where the wind can really howl through aiding a kicker; less athletes capable of jumping up and blocking a kick, and coaches that dont want to risk a penalty; also, I think in many states a FG attempt that gets into the end zone automatically becomes a dead ball and spotted at the 20; so you’ll see a greater % of long distance attempts; but good for this kid; a really long kick is cool to see;

Dang. That is a crazy kick…to come from a High Schooler. Geez. Has a bright future if he takes care of that leg.
