Tyrann Mathieu Hired Law Firm to Stop Sports Illustrated Interview Requests
According to Tyrann Mathieu, SI would not take no for an answer. The former LSU star and his family hired a law firm, in an attempt to end what they perceived to be a barrage of television and in person interview requests for this piece by Pete Thamel and Thayer Evans.
The letter from Irpino Law Firm in New Orleans is addressed to Peter Thamel and Sports Illustrated and reads in part, “You have been consistently harassing Mr. Mathieu and his family regarding personal issues. Mr. Mathieu informed you that they have no desire to respond to your inquiries. Despite repeated assertions of this position… you have trespassed on the Mathieu’s property and otherwise violated their privacy… Demand is made that you cease and desist from any attempts at making contact with Mr. Mathieu or any member of his family.”
The persistent interview requests should not surprise, since that’s where the story was. What emerged in the SI piece was information already in the public domain, rehashed stuff about his father, some “Reefer Madness” style assessment of marijuana use (It’s an epidemic, you guys) and the revelation he might face NCAA issues, should he try to return, for having his likeness used on fliers. Heaven forbid someone besides ESPN, CBS, the NCAA, the SEC and LSU exploit him for profit.

So SI wouldn’t they No for an answer and then printed the story they were going to print anyway?

I’m confused here. Is this story about people making a profit off this dude or the fact that apparently someone has to go to rehab for pot.

Bow Thayer > Thayer Evans

So I read the story by SI. His dad never got into college, but was apparently really good at football. So good, that people say he could have been good enough to get into the NFL. Since he wasn’t smart enough to pass the tests and go to school, he ultimately ended up in jail.
Tyrann is almost assured an NFL chance because of his time at the high profile school LSU. BUT the only thing you want to talk about is people “exploiting” him.

The TBL story is the usual tripe – Pay the Players.
The real story, for me, is that we have another confirmation that Thamel and Thayer are idiots who will stop at nothing to make a story…when there really isn’t a story. The only new information gained from the SI article is that Tyrann may face NCAA issues because some club put his face on a flier. They tried the same thing with AU football players to no avail.

A serf is beholden to media requests and should vouchsafe for his Nobleman. A castoff (fee paying: pozhiloye) former serf who remains on the land should be hounded to make an example of.

Just like ESPN!

I also love that Tyrann is so bitter with LSU making money off selling #7 jerseys, that, instead of going pro, he wants to come back to LSU to play another year of college football.

Les Miles had his SID team take SI aside and let them know if Sports Illustrated wants to ask questions at any game in the future, their will be a change of tone.

One thing I’m curious about…Mathieu complained about the harassment of his elderly mother. What constitutes elderly nowadays? How old was she when she had him?

I just read that SI story. Timing and content-wise, I don’t get why this was an SI “cover story”. As Duffy said, it’s rehashed info about a kid that’s not playing right now.

Not disclosed is the Matthieu family had agreed to do the interview. Only when Sports Illustrated declined to note about BODYARMOR SuperDrink
and TNA’s Bound For Glory pay-per view, did the family turn against the magazine.

This sounds familiar….
/How did you get this number?

Sidenote. My cousin, through marriage, took the Tyrann cover photo. I think it’s his 3rd SI cover.

I don’t get why this was an SI “cover story”.
He was a Heisman finalist and football covers do best.

3rd cover. Insane.

I read the SI story. In terms of quality, it was alright though TBL’s right that any discussion of marijuana made it sound like crack cocaine or something, which it certainly is not.

Curious to know how many times Crosby has been on the cover. I’m guessing two times.

will I agree completely, in the eyes of the Federal Govt., sadly, it is viewed like that.
October 17th, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Whoops. What I meant was that my cousin has had three of his photos as SI covers.

Still wanna know who pays for the rehab. Asked Thamel but he didn’t get back to me. Would free rehab constitute an “impermissible benefit?”

Cover athlete, twice, Cup and Olympic wins. Cover of their Olympic Preview as well.

No that was clear. Any other major magazine covers for him?
