The correct answer is Raising Hope, then about 30 minutes of the debate then Sons of Anarchy while recording Chopped.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
Great way to start the day.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
Odd. He hasn’t exactly been having a banner season.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
WOW.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Been reading Paige since his days at the Commercial Appeal. The Post has been alluding to the poor ownership/front office situation all year.
When Brit takes care of herself (stays out of the clubs, quits getting high), she looks great.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:41 AM
This is the kind of nostalgia I can get behind.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
“missing” is a bit of an exaggeration. Twitter knows where Fetch is.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
I loved watching that jump Sunday. However — and I can’t believe I’m saying this — I was quite disappointed in the camera views after the initial step off the balloon. I hope the footage from his suit/helmet cameras proves much more amazing.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Let’s not pretend like the guy was balancing a construction job by day with his bartending job at night.
Buck gets paid handsomely to provide play by play at sporting events. That he did two events in one day, in the same city isn’t as big of a deal as folks (the media) are making it out to be.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:43 AM

RE: Joe Buck. The guy had to sit next to Troy Aikman then Tim McCarver for a combined 8 hours. How his brain is still inside his skull and not splattered all over some hotel bathroom wall I’ll never know.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Odd. He hasn’t exactly been having a banner season.
It’s a tough position to fill. The “non-box” safety who can cover the “joker” tight end but also play in the “box” while still covering a lot man in the “dime” or “dollar” packages is a hard find. And this kid has all the measurables to do just that at the next level. I know, because I’ve broken down the tape.
/broken down the tape = watched one Texas game on TV
//aggregator
October 16th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Queefer….I saw some video from Felix’ helmet camera. It’s not that great. But if your going 600 mph, that is to be expected. It’s certainly not like Captain Kirks space jump in the last Star Trek movie.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
good episode, lots of zombie deaths and few words.

October 16th, 2012 at 8:48 AM
i’m not sure how there weren’t mass suicides for people who ended up watching both games with Joe Buck,
October 16th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I was under the weather yesterday (right after we got done talking about it last week) and decided to give WD a chance after its terrible second season. Turned out to be a wise choice. Pretty damn strong episode.
Also, I know I beat this drum all the time, but you all have GOT to get on Treme. This season has been outfuckingstanding thus far.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
good episode, lots of zombie deaths and few words.
yeah, but there were three unbearable dialogue parts. Rick/Lorie, Lorie/Herschel, and Crossbow Guy/Battered Woman flirting. After they settle in, I expect lots more of that stuff.
Although I was pleased to see them foraging for food, and then later discussing zombie contingencies that some people might not have thought of, even during that awful dialogue.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Who here has plans to riot if Obama loses? That seems to be the new story.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
gotta say i feel like a dumbass for turning off MNF after getting pissed they didnt show phil’s shot.
you are probably only aware, then, of Manning’s role in the comeback, since he’s getting 100% of the credit. Denver’s awful defense scored twice.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:53 AM
Hello, Britney. You were so hot when I was graduating high school and in my first two years of college.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:53 AM
The dialogue will always be terrible. It’s not the show’s strength.
You raise a good point about the little details, though. The one thing the show has done well since its inception is get the details right. Cant tell you how many post-apocalyptic movies I’ve seen where there’s a nicely laid out path on the highway cars can just shoot through at 65 mph. So its good to see them not able to just drive everywhere.
Same with the body armor last night. Having that is extremely valuable against an enemy that bites. But I wouldn’t have put that gross shit on, either.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
it wasn’t the best dialogue, i agree with that, but it’s not like the show started out or set expectations of Downton Abbey/West Wing level dialogue when it started.
having two separate story lines will help cut down on the standing around and talking portions of the show when the action slows down for a bit anyway.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Who here has plans to riot if Obama loses? That seems to be the new story.
I rioted about food in 2009, and I rioted about gold in 2010. So mine will be a Quiet Riot.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
good episode, lots of zombie deaths and few words.
should be a solid season depending on how they handle the bevy of new characters about to be introduced. I’m hopeful.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
This is another lie: The Rockies ran off a good man and a solid manager in Jim Tracy because he was tired of their silly games and stupid ways.
The part about him being a solid manager is definitely a lie. He’s bad.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Classic Broncos – get in a huge early hole, Manning milks the stats in the second half when the defense leads off, and everyone thinks he’s awesome.
If SD just ran the ball every single play in the second half they probably win.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
I am going to bang my head as I quietly riot. After I am sure I’ll come on and feel the noize.

This deserved its own post.

October 16th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
The one thing the show has done well since its inception is get the details right.
you are completely mental. How is it, then, that the team ends up driving only twenty year old beaters and miraculously, one spotless Hyundai?
Are there no other late model cars available? That seems like a detail.
Also, they didn’t start foraging for food until Season 3, Episode 1. They spent a whole season living where food was plentiful, and zombies weren’t, during a zombie apocalypse.
And Rick definitely should have taken that dog food away from his kid, and handed it to the wife. Everybody eats dog food in apocalypse movies. It has food value.

October 16th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
These are all nitpicks, nothing more.
Look, I’m not a fan of the show and think the second season was the worst TV show of 2011. But they put a lot more thought into the details than they could or even should, far more than any other zombie movie anyway.

All I know is that the guy in my carpool has agreed to drive for a month if he loses. He said back in April that he was so sure of an Obama win, that he would drive us to work for a full month if he lost the election. Looking forward to a Romney win so I can leave my car at home for a month.

Goober.
But, I read the article. That roster looks better. Kirilenko, Cunningham, Budinger and Roy are all useful parts. Get Rubio healthy, rebound & run relentlessly, and the Wolves are gonna be even more entertaining this year. Looking forward to it.

October 16th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
These are all nitpicks, nothing more.
so you say “The one thing the show has done well since its inception is get the details right.”
but when I point out details they’ve gotten wrong, I’m nitpicking, but you agree those details weren’t wrong?
That would make you wrong, wouldn’t it?
October 16th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Few things in sports move the needle quite like the Packers
Isn’t this like hoping a team that finished 5th in its conference gets an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament with a ceiling of the Sweet 16?
October 16th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
RE: Walking Dead
I know this third season is supposed to better. That’s what the actors tell me during interviews. I don’t care anymore. There isn’t a likable character on that show other than Merle. And he has only had about four minutes of screentime in two seasons. I know nothing of the comics, but I am rooting for this Governor guy. I hope he kills all the still alives and then AMC replaces them with new characters.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
1998-2003…after that were the dark years when she went crazy for a while (the two marriages, the kids, Federline, etc.) She has cleaned up quite well.
I realize it’s nitpicking at this point, but I’m fairly certain that the “Toxic” video came out in 2004 — and any Brit peak years HAS to include that video. I think that video was on loop on my floor freshman year of college. Regardless, she was really hot.

I flipped from MNF at 24-0, saw Gyp Rosetti’s blood-soaked penis and got back to the game at 28-24 which was quite the shock

October 16th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
nick, why do you start watching television shows, and then stridently defend them until you realize they are stupid, then pretend like you always thought they were stupid?
You were the guy in here telling us how great Frank Darabond was, and in another instance, defending The Event for three episodes, and in another I stance defending falling Skies for three episodes.
People watch TV because they like watching TV. The Walking Dead, good or bad, has ultra gory highlights. points in the show that are noteworthy, whether you like the show or not.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Then, of course, he booted Scutaro’s hit that cleared the bases.

October 16th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
he’s making fun of the internet scouting gurus who watch a game and come to a definitive ‘conclusion’ not the attempt at scouting.
as someone who falls into the category he’s mocking, i do have to agree. guys like matt waldman and greg cosell can learn more about a WR watching five routes where he doesn’t catch a ball than any of us can learn watching an entire game. we’re just not that privy.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
JMac, U mad bro? Everything OK at home, buddy?
October 16th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
USA will win comfortably tonight. I don’t understand people saying Guatemala and America will play for a draw. One crazy deflection late in the game and both teams will be in serious danger of not moving on. But hexagonal (I think that’s what it is called) will certainly be an adventure. USA is finding out the hard way what Bayern learned few years ago. Klinsmann is an excellent salesman. He talks perhaps the best game amongst all the coaches in the world, but at the end, gets found out for what he is. A mediocre coach.

Wow, this is quite the bait.
You still haven’t answered the question, though.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
i know this was in jest, but ive always thought taylor mays would be quite good as a nickel linebacker that either sticks to a TE’s hip, blitzes or spys a RB for a draw or screen.
the browns have an unheralded guy, craig robertson, who’s pretty good in this position. profootballfocus has been pretty critical of his performance, but i think that’s because they’re evaluating him based on a set of statistics rather than evaluating him in his role as an intermediate safety.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Definite agreement here. I definitely refresh the page more often when he’s commenting.

The recaps by this guy are hilarious. When every single media outlet was saying how great the show was and anyone watching could tell it was a garbled mess, this guy was the first one on calling BS. Also, there was always a lot of discussion in the Am round-up.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
I have to say I have given up tweeting about my NFL team for the rest of the year, but reading twitter when the Broncos were down 24-0 and then at the end of the game was highly entertaining.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
if breaking down tape leads to the conclusion that Tyler Bray is the best QB to come out in next years draft, I think I will continue to not break down tape.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Damn, NFL truly prints their own currency. I understand it’s an important issue, but reading the full interview, it seems like they really did hire her to focus on this matter exclusively.

October 16th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Without question. And if I were Descalso or Kozma, I wouldn’t be hanging around the bag while turning two at any point in time in the series. That’s especially true if Scutaro misses any time in the series.
The Giants should be sharpening their cleats and practicing studs up slides on the off day, today.

I don’t recall reading WD AV Club recaps last season. I did read Justified AV Club recaps and thought they were pretty good. Breaking Bad’s were ok. Don’t bother reading Rolling Stone or Grantland recaps for Breaking Bad.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
it’s funny, i was thinking about all the QB’s ohio state faces this year and the only one i can think of that has even a remote chance of sniffing an NFL backup job is the kid from miami, OH. well, maybe the kid from maryland/wisconsin…maybe.

I think the Giants for a long time will have rough slides in their heads considering what happened to their star Posey last season. I can’t blame them for that.
Fox showed a replay of Holliday and Posey “chatting” during the former’s next at bat.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
a) i laughed a bunch at this
b) a 3i is not necessarily worthless up close…seve used a 3i a lot to chip with (and could even get out of bunkers and hit lofted pitches with too). tiger uses a 4i when he just wants the ball to get on the green and roll like a putt.

Haven’t watched the premier yet, is Carl and Lori still as annoying as ever?
Lori has the worst fake pregnant prosthetic in the history of tv/film to go with her continued horrible dialogue. I think they tried to age Carl about four years in the off season. He plays a bad-ass now. Well, not really, but that seems to be the intent.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:38 AM

Like a lot of you guys, my crush on Britney was huge during my teenage years. Good lawd.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Ignoring your horrible grammar, Carl is much better and useful, he only whined once in the episode. I find it dumb that they make every single shot in the episode a kill, especially when he is firing a pistol from atop a tower but goes with the show. Lori is trying to play the card of I know everyone hates me because I suck so feel sorry for me, but no one does.
I still think the show is dumb, dumb dialogue and incredibly dumb zombie strategy, but I’ll be watching every week as usual.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:40 AM

Fair point. For the amateur, a 3I will never come out of the bag near the green. 7 or 8? Sure. But, I’ve never played with anyone, high or low handicap, that wants to get out anything less than 7…
But, I digress. Anyone seen the closeups of her on X-Factor? Wow… in a not good way. Even the best makeup artists can only do so much.

Speaking of bad reviews, I still watch SNL regularly. Yeah, I said it. And the guy that does the review on hitfix is just horrible. He is on this weird crusade to diversify the cast of SNL. So any sketches that has white cast members playing non-white roles is certain to get a failing grade. Everyone loved the “Tech Talk” skit last week except for this guy simply because they had Armisen, Pedrad, and Strong playing chinese characters.

To be honest, I’m surprised that he was outright fired. The scenario I thought would happen was where they’d simply pull so much responsibility from Juan and give it to Bowles that Castillo would be the DC in name only.

only the commercial where she’s ripping apart that dude who talks about autotune. and her reaction to that made her far, FAR more unattractive than any of the crazy pics or behavior.
agreed and it’s all personal pref anyways. phil uses nothing but his 60* around the greens and manages just fine.
also, amateurs shouldnt be carrying 3i’s anyways. stick to the 38/24 rule for your longest iron…irons are too hard to hit once they get more than 38 inches with less than 24 degrees of loft (typical 4i).

how was it dirty? he started sliding before he got to the bag and went straight at the base. is the whole point of sliding in hard into second not to break up the double play?
watch this and then please explain how Holliday’s slide was dirty. I watch a lot of Cardinal games and that is exactly how Holliday has slid into 2B since he’s been on the Cards

probably not, but could you imagine how deadly a creative speacial teams coach like brad seely could get with him if he put on like 10 lbs? he’d drive coaches nuts if they could design a good fake punt play with him.
i always wondered why college coaches didnt teach their better athlete walk ons to punt and do kickoffs. fig they’d stand a better chance as a safety valve than some kicker getting embarrassed by a returner.

He ended up 5 feet past the bag. He ends up 5 feet past the bag on every slide? How is it not dirty when your slide takes you that far beyond the bag. Really, it should have been an automatic out at 1st because that’s interference.
If Holliday slides hard and stays on the bag, then its clean. But, since he needed to go 3 feet beyond just to hit him, then it’s completely cheap.

Happy for you. And I’ll refrain from making any of the half dozen mean spirited jokes that popped into my head when I read this.
Also, sorry it took me so long to respond. I had to “aggregate” some “content” from one of my “contributors,” if you catch my meaning.
Nick,
I don’t hate the Walking Dead, but I do often hate watch television shows. That’s a thing. I enjoy watching television, and often it’s a springboard to be re-entertained by specific reviews of the same show by people who have either a:) identical or b:) completely opposite feelings to my own.
I can just imagine the Walking Dead writing room, when they spitball ideas, because they definitely write the gore first, and just fill time between their goriest scenes with mind numbing dialogue.
So I think that script outline built around a skeleton of “specific zombie kills” to “specific character intro” to “specific zombie kill in specific attire” to “truly gruesome scene.”
But I haven’t read anything about it yet.

October 16th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
so was it 5 feet or 3 feet? and either way, if Scutaro is on the bag trying to make the turn, the same thing happens. there are way, way worse instances of interference that occur at 2B where the sliding player can’t even touch the bag as he is sliding, Holliday went right over the top of it.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
Zombies are more played out than indentured servant cheerleaders doing parody videos of legitimate Korean pop stars that our adoption as a fad is actually rather culturally insensitive and borderline racist.

October 16th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
what the fuck is up with Mr. Smart Zombie sitting there with his eyes closed waiting for a leg to step over him so he could sneak bite it?
they wanted to do a scene where they SPOILER ALERT, did the deed to that character, to render all that ridiculous character/annoying character dialogue moot, so she’s have to re-say it.
So they contrived a way to do it that wasn’t in keeping with the nature of the fundamental nature of the story.
Queefer Sutherland calls that “getting all the details right.”

October 16th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Dude. Give me a break. I don’t care if Holliday has slid that way into 2nd every game in his life, it was dirty as hell. He went flying over the bag and full on tackled Scutaro as he was turning to first base. He didn’t even come close to sliding normally and took out his lower body. There is a slide that breaks up a double play, then there is that dirty bush league shit. It was dirty, and I loved watching him bungle the play in the outfield the next inning. Fuck that guy.

The Coca Cola popups that come up at the bottom of the page when you scroll down on the site using a mobile browser are really intrusive. I said I wouldn’t complain about the lack of a site, but this is a functionality issue. Designing ads so that they’re accidentally clicked on all the time = why I won’t use anything without adblock.
