Nowadays in baseball there’s a ton of focus on run differential. The Browns are 10th in the AFC in point differential. You may be right.

As for Weeden, if you exclude his first game against Philly, he has been completely mediocre, which is fine with me as a rookie QB. He has the arm to make every throw, has made some terrible decisions, but on the whole I think he can be a starter for 5-6 years. Browns need a veteran WR, maybe a stud at guard and a handful of DBs but the core of the team is as promising as anything they have had since ’99.

This. Weeden has been relatively acceptable, especially considering the number of drops that he’s been plagued with.

The DL is more the adequate. In fact, if Taylor comes back from PUP in the next 3 weeks, they will have a nasty front line. They are missing OLB’s and a couple secondary pieces from having a better than good defense.

Offensively, it’s O-line and attempt to find a top line WR and a slot guy (although Cooper may be that guy).

I’m not parting with a franchise QB. Just the parts it took to get him here to get another franchise player. Pure hypothetical that have less than a 1% chance of happening. Unless the Browns hire AJ Smith after the Chargers fire him.

For defensive, they have 4 quality interior lineman, 1 good DE in Sheard. A young fast LB core, 1 good CB and 1 good safety.

One more pass-rushing DE, a quality CB opposite Haden, 1 more impact WR. Eventually a coverage safety. Depth isn’t too bad.

I’ve only watched them twice this year but I think they need a lot more than that. They need a speed compliment for Richardson, they need a big red zone target, they need a veteran WR with good hands who can go get first downs, plus all the defensive stuff.

Actually they still need a few more high end guys and just some experience. One more pass-rushing DE, a quality CB opposite Haden, 1 more impact WR. Eventually a coverage safety. Depth isn’t too bad.

The Browns don’t seem like they’re TOO far away. They have some legit pieces. As in, they have players other teams would actually want for once. It’s just outside of those 4-5 guys, they’re horrible.

I’d do the Jay Cutler trade for Joe Thomas. Meaning, two first and a third if they want to part with him. Spencer might go Milton though.
